Brintons Carpets Ltd

Luxury restaurant group D&D London commissioned Brintons to design bespoke carpets for its nordic-inspired restaurant, Aster. Brintons created approximately 116sqm of the custom circular repeat pattern for the space, which is located in central London. Brintons supplied carpet for the first floor restaurant and cocktail bar, which includes luxury private dining areas. The carpet has a repetitive dotted pattern, using muted hues to complement the warmth of the restaurant’s key interior features. Brintons chose a natural, circular motif, evocative of nature, in order to establish a link between Nordic cuisine and the natural environment.

A highly popular west-coast restaurant chain with over 30 locations in and around Vancouver, Canada required a design solution that provided them with a natural look that aligned with strict building codes. They had to find a replacement for their wood cladding that still looked great and reflected their preference for a west coast aesthetic but also aligned with strict non-combustibility requirements on all their buildings. We worked with the architects to determine a design solution and now our product can be seen on several of the Cactus Club locations.

Breakers Beach Bar & Restaurant, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The construction of an upmarket beach bar and restaurant, Breakers Beach House, part of the Grand Hotel Huis Ter Duin. Set amongst the dunes and facing the North Sea, the building was designed to be sympathetic to the environment but required the use of materials that could withstand the elements without requiring frequent maintenance. Accoya Wood was used for windows, doors, cladding, railings, trusses, mullions and planters. “We are delighted with the end result which meets our expectations and those of our customer.” Eline van Leeuwen, Director, Van Leeuwen kozijnen.

Located on the riverside, the restaurant features Karndean’s Opus Nero and Luna in a chequerboard design to complete the monochrome décor of the upstairs milkshake parlour, as well as the subtly limed tones of Korlok Baltic Mistral Oak throughout the main dining areas.

Howe Green

The UK’s first Palm Restaurant opened in Belgravia, London. Specialists in interior refurbishment, Fileturn Contractors fitted 5 of Howe Green’s 5000 Series floor access covers and one of its Visedge covers. The covers were selected to provide easy access to essential building services including plumbing and electrics. The 5000 Series covers were used in the restaurant’s signature hardwood floor of the lower level private dining area while the Visedge was perfect for the flexible flooring in the basement. Excelling in cleanliness, hygiene and durability, the covers are perfect for commercial applications.

Its exterior capabilities and anti-slip properties along with the required 222mm width made the NTEX294 a perfect choice of Carluccio’s restaurant and the Contracts team at Multiflor Co Ltd who completed the installation in a busy Central London location.

Incredible new worktops, floorings and walls have been created at the luxurious Hotel Puente Romano in Marbella thanks to the revolutionary characteristics of Dekton surfaces. Chef Dani Garcia is responsible for the Alice in Wonderland inspired restaurant and kitchens that truly have to be seen to be believed. He says "From an operational point of view, being able to work on such a brilliant material for hygiene is fabulous because it withstands both cold and heat, but there is also an important aesthetic factor”

London Zoo is one of the UK’s best-known tourist attractions and the world’s oldest scientific zoo. Opened in 1838, it now houses nearly 20,000 animals. The new Terrace Restaurant by SHH architects has tripled the dining space to 700 covers. Troldtekt ceilings play a major part in helping to create an acoustically pleasant environment for the high visitor numbers. With an abundance of hard surfaces, coupled with echoes and ambient noise, it was important to find a solution which would complement the design. This has been achieved by installing Troldtekt ultrafine acoustic panels on the ceilings below the mezzanine floor.

Urimat Waterless Urinals have been installed in over 1000 McDonald's Restaurants in the UK since the programme started in 2007. Testimonial from McDonald's Restaurants: "We use the Urimat system supplied by Ecoprod Technique for the waterless urinals in our restaurants, which have helped us reduce our water consumption by approximately 150 million litres per annum. After researching and testing a number of waterless urinal systems, both retrofit inserts and full urinal replacements, the Urimat model proved itself best suited to our specification".

AluK (GB) Ltd

Installed by WD Group for main contractors RG Carter, the curtain walling was an integral part of architects Stride Treglown’s vision for the landmark structure, which also features a flying roof. It features AluK’s SL52 flexible capped curtain walling system throughout, with an entrance door fabricated using the suited GT55TB door system. The diagonal design and irregular angles meant that AluK had to create a solution with multiple transom and mullion sections which was cost effective, while still being true to the aesthetic and meeting the static considerations and performance requirements laid out.

Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant - Cornwall

Tarkett Ltd

Overlooking the beach on the north coast of Cornwall, Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Cornwall restaurant underwent a major refurbishment in 2013. Absolute Design took the lead on the project, with the aim of creating a more colourful and contemporary space. Inspired by a new wave of expressive art called “Pop Surrealism”, Newquay artist Ben Allen was commissioned to paint onto a blank white wall to transform the restaurant into a living work of art. The designers wanted to create an equally striking flooring installation to complement the new, bold walls, and the Tarkett Floorcraft Design team were a perfect fit.

The Brimstone Spa is the latest addition to the Langdale Estate, one of the most luxurious hotel and spa destinations in the north of England. The 29-week project involved the dismantling of the existing treatment rooms before two extensions were built to accommodate the new state-of-the-art concept. The ‘Stove’ restaurant is where you can see applicArt’s polished plaster finishes, the finishes applied to the ‘Stove’ bar front and feature wall are Black Stucco Da Vinci with Silver Metallique, with a large indented vein detail for added depth and character

Carnivoro - Brazilian Style Restaurant Burnley

Travertino has been applied to the bar front, with a Micro Oxide stencil ‘Carnivoro’, bringing the restaurant name to life. Marmorino Venezia Beton with DeCorten Rust was chosen for the bar top. The floor, which is a Micro finish, this finish boasts high strength and durability which is great for high traffic areas. Travertino with Metallics has been applied to the walls leading towards the bathrooms. Edel Riviera in Crocodile Effect is on the walls in both female and male WC, in tones of brown. Micro Oxide has been applied to bespoke sink troughs.

Loch Fyne Restaurant, Cheshire

A Grade II listed Royal George building in Knutsford was sympathetically restored to create a stunning dining venue for the Loch Fyne brand. During the restoration project, contractor A&J Interiors specified 4 of Howe Green’s 5000 Series floor access covers. The covers were required to provide an unobtrusive access solution to cover the kitchen’s essential mains services whilst maintaining fast and easy access for maintenance or emergency repairs. Blending seamlessly with the flooring the covers avoid distortion and prevent the risk of slips and trips – essential within a busy kitchen environment.

Our Flexirol Multdirectional hardware was identified as the best product to fulfill the project brief. Local refurbishment experts, House Mobel Decoracion, took full advantage of the hardware in order to best meet the restaurant owner’s demand for aesthetic and practical appeal. The client required a solution that would enable the efficient use of the restaurant floor space, making it bigger or smaller depending on the amount of guests.

Expona Flow helps to refresh University Hospital Wales restaurant

High design commercial sheet vinyl flooring from UK manufacturer Polyflor’s Expona Flow PUR collection was recently used to create a vibrant new restaurant area at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. Formerly known as the Heathfields restaurant, this hospital canteen has undergone a transformation and is now called Y Gegin. Approximately 600m² of Polyflor flooring was installed throughout the restaurant by Artisan Flooring. The grey-toned Silver Oak and Smoked Oak wood effect designs from Polyflor’s Expona Flow flooring collection were installed alongside each other throughout the servery stations, cashier desks, dining areas and around vending machines.

Pro-Railing used in new 120 Seater Restaurant

F H Brundle

Knights Garden Centre opened a 120 seater restaurant at their Chesham branch. F.H. Brundle was chosen as the main supplier for the fencing and security gates to protect the site, and also provided all the pre-assembled Pro-Railing posts and fittings to create a stunning coffee shop terrace with views over the surrounding fields. In this project, the use of 10mm glass clamps as signage holders demonstrates the unique versatility of the Pro-Railing range of products.

ACCOYA® CLADDING CHOSEN FOR A KFC RESTAURANT IN STOURBRIDGE, UK

Accoya cladding was selected by contractor Jephsons for the new KFC restaurant in Stourbridge. Along with a new Costa and McDonalds, the £5million development is the latest venture by Guernsey-based Jumbuk Ltd. After performing well with respect to stability and retained aesthetics on a KFC concept design store over the past 18 months, Accoya was chosen for the project. Finished in a Sansin coating this Accoya cladding also offers a stunning aesthetic appearance. For this project Accoya was distributed by James Latham and installed by Protec Roofing.

Additionally, Accoya proved a great visual choice as the the shou-sugi-ban exterior siding creates an eye-catching impact thanks to the way it stands out from the rest of the mall’s neutral coloured façade. The Farmiloe Building, with its faded Victorian industrial charm, was last year’s venue for celebrating and awarding innovative design across the hospitality industry. This fascinating Grade II Listed building made an exciting venue for the 5th anniversary of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. Attended by over 600 leading international architects, designers and operators, the architecture and engineering of the Farmiloe Building was complemented by five uniquely designed ‘Box Project’ spaces, each conceived by dedicated teams for the Awards, and where Breezefree’s 115sqm retractable canopy created a striking counterpart to Nicholas Alexander Creative Construction’s theatrical alfresco kitchen area.

Using two different finishes on the aluminium eaves cladding on this new restaurant for star chef; Tom Sellars, Dales achieved a clever distinction between the raw edges of the building and its ends with large, anodized panels on the raking soffit a noticeable contrast to the vertical matt finished polyester powder coated gable end panels. Matt Flannery: Spacecraft Architects: “Dales were a good team to work with, and were a critical part of the design workshop…Despite the complexity of the canopy, I think everyone would be in agreement that it is definitely one of the highlights of the finished scheme.”
