The challenge of Gareth Hoskins' architects was to bring natural light into this space without damaging the exposed works, drawing 400 years of history. Thus, the architect imagined and created lighting paths and wells of light using Barrisol Lumière® ceiling. Today, the place benefits from a soft and pleasant light. A Barrisol® matt stretched ceiling offers a simple and minimalistic design on the remaining surface.

A bright creation and fourteen years later, still a current project in its modernity. This project was carried out using a metal structure composed of geometric shapes in diamonds and quadrangles, which was built in the Atrium and BMW Edge amphitheater (sponsor of creation). The originality of this structure was its acoustic quality and high brightness. To obtain such a result, the translucent canvas Moonlight was chosen to enhance the natural light and Acoustic stretched ceiling Barrisol Acoustics® to reduce noise. The layout of the interior space was also thought that the furniture harmonize with the ceiling.

Slim EB24 steel windows light up this glorious house!

Occupying an elevated position above the city of Guildford stands this wonderful house, which was built in the early 1900s. Individually designed and constructed to a very high specification, the numerous windows and doors (over three floors) allowed plenty of light to flood into the property and to take advantage of the fantastic surrounding views. Windows from Clement’s EB24 system with rectangular leaded lights were used to replicate the original fenestration. As well as the new windows being in keeping with the character of the property, the multi point locking system chosen by the client brought extra security.

Modernising historic properties can bring major challenges. The architects at Fuse Studios gave careful consideration to this question as they prepared for a refurbishment of the Fine Arts building at Leeds University. Early on, the new access ramp at the front entrance was identified as an important visual centrepiece. The architects opted to use Q-railing products, including an LED-lit handrail, when creating an ultra-safe glass railing for the ramp. Q-railing recommended the Easy Glass Max system. It is highly robust, meeting all the relevant safety requirements with ease, and yet provides an uninterrupted glazed area.

Branko Siladin used Structural Barrisol Lumière as luminous support for retables and crosses, luminous base for chests and luminous showcase for statues. This structure was perfectly adapted in this historic place creating a harmony between the prestige of a place and the prestige of a product.

The company now has added Palladiom keypads and thermostat, and automated blinds to its myRoom Prime guestroom management solution. The result is efficient, intuitive, and stylish. “All of our customers are generally quite short-stay, so we wanted something that was really simple and seamless to use,” says Z Hotels Technical Manager Eamon Kelly. “And we needed something that could integrate motorised blinds, room occupancy [data], and other features without requiring deep technical expertise.”

The design for the new office placed particular emphasis on the health and wellbeing of staff; two values which the trust pride themselves in delivering through their social housing scheme.

Providing a balanced mix of old and new, Hope Street Xchange maintains the features of the six storey Grade II listed building, such as beams and exposed brick where possible, blending it in with the modern arm of the building to deliver a contemporary workspace for a community of innovative-led businesses. Hope Street Xchange hosts Sunderland University and business tenants providing an incubator space for innovation and collaboration, offering office spaces, creative units, meeting and event spaces.

Connection and Interface

Connection in a joint partnership with Interface have opened a showroom in the heart of Manchester. Innovative commercial furniture designer and manufacturer, Connection, joined forces with carpet tile producer, Interface, to reveal their showroom in the historic Law Library. The stunning building was built between 1884 and 1885 and acted as a meeting space and reading room for the Manchester Law Society. The new display area is based on the ground floor, with the upper floors still contains books, keeping the library alive.

Modular skylights improving office and warehouse conditions using natural light

The VELUX Modular Skylight system was installed as part of a new combined office and warehousing space for third generation fabric design company, ROMO Fabrics. The use of natural light proved essential to the project and so 348 modules of the VELUX Modular Skylight system were specified and installed across the building. This included a VELUX Ridgelight solution to accentuate the entrances of the atrium and offer a glimpse of the internal space, as well as a VELUX Northlight solution within the office and design studios to provide soft, reflective lighting and a natural feel to the workspace.

Neaco gets the green light at City Green, Sunderland

We supplied and installed our Spectrum nylon-coated balustrades with glass infills and Neatdek aluminium decking with alternate inserts on every balcony. Frosted glass screens were also supplied between balconies to provide an element of privacy for the occupants. A spokesperson from ENGIE says, “Neaco offered an excellent service from start to finish. They had the task of designing and installing their product to the existing structural steel which they carried out with very few issues and all modifications were handled by the teams promptly and efficiently, so that our programme was maintained throughout. Overall, the service provided was outstanding”.

Victoria Works was built in 1913, and was originally designed as one of England's first cinemas. It remained the White Palace Cinema until 1934 and since then the building has been occupied by various businesses. The Strada restaurant chain selected the Victoria Works Building for their new Harpenden branch in 2010. Clement’s EB24 steel window range created the stunning feature curved windows for the front elevation. The wall of the front elevation was opened up to insert the new windows that flood the restaurant with masses of natural light.
