Our client Prestige All Parts, a car dealership, aimed to establish a new showroom and office space. They sought an innovative solution that would not only set their showroom apart but also ensure functionality and appeal to visiting customers.To address our clients needs, we proposed a comprehensive redesign of the shopfront. The focal point of our solution was the integration of expansive windows to maximise the influx of natural light into the showroom. This strategic approach aimed to create an inviting ambiance while showcasing the displayed vehicles in their best light. In addition to that, the implementation of a sliding automatic door system for the main entrance allowed for enhanced accessibility and also offered a seamless and user friendly experience for customers entering.Beyond its practical benefits, such as ease of access for visitors, this feature symbolised the dealership’s commitment to modernity and innovation. By implementing these proposed solutions, our client not only transformed their physical space but also redefined their brand identity.

The town of Whitchurch in Hampshire is a special place: most of the town is a Conservation Area, the amount of wildlife in and near the River Test means its course and banks are designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the town is the Gateway to the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the third largest of Britain's 46 AONBs. The current Town Hall was built by a local landowner, Lord Middleton, in or around 1791, using some of the timbers from the Old Town House that had stood in the centre of The Square, and was demolished in the 1780s. During the 1800s the building had many tenants including the Mechanics Institute and a furniture warehouse.Records show that in the 1900s the building was also put to a variety of uses. The local Magistrate held sessions, two rooms were used to shelter Military Units passing through Whitchurch, and in 1919 the building was used by the National Federation of Discharged Soldiers and Sailors. Parish Councils were set up in 1896, but met at the Poor Law Institute (the Gables). More recently, the National Fire Service was accommodated in the lower middle section of the building. In 1946, Midland Bank, (now HSBC) was in the lower right hand corner. The Town Band practiced here, and the British Legion used the upper floor. Recently, an extensive program of refurbishment works has taken place to improve the Grade II* Listed Building. This included new steel doors and windows by Clement for the front elevation. The Clement W20 range was chosen for both, with krypton gas filled units. Ash pull handles perfectly complement the steel doors and Boleyn handles were chosen for the steel windows. Sarah Weir, Clerk at Whitchurch Town Council said ““The Town Council are really pleased with the new windows and door which are modern, practical and in keeping with the historic building”.

With average daily energy bills of only 24p, the cottages at Howgate Close have earned a reputation as possibly the UK’s most energy-efficient homes*. Built by farmer Dr Chris Parsons, the row of nine, single storey cottages exploits a range of passive solar design principles** - including a southerly orientation, a high thermal mass and a earth-bonding (external walls partially covered in soil) - to create homes which are exceptionally energy efficient and comfortable to live in. The homes are also truly affordable as no artificial heat source is required to deliver a stable internal temperature averaging 21-23 degrees Centigrade. The cottages instead use a mix of passive heat sources, created by people and appliances, and solar gain generated through VELFAC triple glazed aluminium / timber windows. As a result, the energy consumption of a two bedroom cottage is 94% less than the average UK household. The architecture of Howgate Close is based on designs created by sustainability housing experts Hockerton Housing Project** ( https://www.hockertonhousingproject.org.uk/) with performance further enhanced by Dr Jerry Harrall (https://drharrall.com) a consultant in the design and adaptation of fossil-fuel-free buildings. ‘Describing Howgate Close as a development of eco-homes is to understate its performance,’ states Dr Harrall. ‘In fact all nine properties operate beyond zero-carbon, and instrumental to the success of Howgate Close is the installation of VELFAC composite triple glazing, specified for its excellent thermal performance.’ A key feature of every cottage is a large, white framed VELFAC composite window screen installed on south facing facades. The screens combine fixed units and a sliding patio door, and with dimensions of up to 3m x 5m occupy almost the entire wall. ‘The VELFAC windows play a crucial role in achieving a SAP rating for each cottage of around 143, potentially the highest group of SAP rating’s in the country and a significant improvement of the average rating of 63,’ says Dr Harrall. ‘VELFAC triple glazing has a U-value of 0.8W/m2K which reduces the rate of heat loss while bringing more natural light into each home, thereby reducing the need for artificial light,’ says Dr Harrall. ‘Across the development, the windows are actually net gatherers of heat, and contribute to an annual energy surplus which we estimate will be enough to power another similar dwelling.’ Unwanted solar gain is minimised by the exceptional insulation afforded by the triple glazed units, enhanced by low emissivity coatings applied to inner glass panes. Ventilation is primarily mechanical but supported by trickle vents within the window frames, and by cross ventilation using additional, smaller VELFAC windows installed in the rear facade. ‘Triple glazing also delivers excellent acoustic insulation,’ adds Dr Harrall, ‘which is important, as the cottages are located within actively cultivated farmland, and are near a busy road and wind turbines.’ Howgate Close is now a model development for affordable, ultra-low energy homes and is also the focus of a two year research and monitoring project, co-run by Dr Harrall and Professor Anton Ianakiev, Professor in Sustainable Energy Systems at Nottingham Trent University (NTU). ‘I have also co-authored an academic paper on Howgate Close,’ adds Dr Harrall, ‘which aims to show that it is possible to design, construct and live in buildings without resort to fossil fuels.’—ends— * Analysis by Elmhurst Energy, the UK’s largest independent provider of energy assessment, retrofit and property professional training, software and accreditation. * * Principles advanced by Professors Brenda and Robert Vale, architects of the Hockerton Housing Project, the design of which inspired Howgate Close.

The Links ELC – CoventryCoventry ELC is a Pupil Referral Unit for Key Stage 3 & 4 pupils who have struggled to access mainstream school education due to Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) issues.They have recently increased security around the whole facility. Heightened door and window security was delivered thanks to our E37 electric shutters.THE CHALLENGEThe client was looking for increased security for their facility, to cover windows and doors.We worked with their contractor the Darwin Group to work out the best solution and completed the installation of 31 E37 shutters of varying sizes to the external doors and windows.THE SOLUTIONThe E37 is made from an strong extruded double skinned aluminium slat which can be powder coated any RAL colour. With a narrow 37mm slat it is capable of rolling tightly with a 2m high shutter capable of rolling into a 180mm box. It is widely used for domestic and light commercial applications for securing windows and doors up to 4m wide. It is very popular with schools, offices and modular building companies.The E37 comes with numerous control options including manual, key switch or remote control, including group control options.

University Arms Hotel, the oldest hotel in Cambridge, dates from the 1840s when it first opened as a coaching inn. Extensions followed in the 1930s an 1960s; but in 2013 John Simpson Architects began returning cohesion and grandeur to the building. The aim was 190 bedrooms boasting 5-star luxury. We were proud to be awarded the 14-month contract to design, supply and install 300 timber box sash windows, 50 balcony French doors, and 28 curved-on-plan sash windows. We also produced large bespoke entrance screens, and undertook the restoration of leaded light glass.

The new Muscat International Airport is designed to transform the airport experience not only in the Middle East but on the global stage. A smooth and pleasant customer journey is at the core of the design. Since its conception in 2011, SAS has been heavily involved in realising the aims for each area of the building. SAS has supplied more than 200,000m² of column casing, acoustic wall panelling, staircase cladding and bespoke metal ceilings to the project. Each product has been carefully designed to provide essential acoustic absorption for visitors as well as service integration and accessibility for staff.

Part of an energy efficiency drive, the landlord aimed to reduce carbon emissions and the effects of fuel poverty on 96 units in 8 blocks at Hornby Flats, Liverpool. Triple-glazed PVC-U windows and doors using the Profile 22 70mm system by Walsall-based Approved Window Contractor Select Windows, with extensive experience in social housing. Profile 22 worked closely with Select Windows and One Vision Housing, facilitating the entire process from conception to completion. The project was completed on-time and in budget. One Vision Housing was able to future-proof, while improving the quality of living for tenants.

Heighington Hall | Helping To Restore A Grade II* Listed HomeMr & Mrs Anderson’s period home had some sash windows and a period door that were cold and draughty, and some windows that were completely stuck shut. But as the owner of a stunning Grade II* Listed property in Heighington, Darlington, they were only too aware of their responsibility to protect their home’s heritage. So, when they saw Ventrolla recommended by Sarah Beeny on the television about her home, Rise Hall, they got in touch.This was back in 2017, and we’ve continued to work on their beautiful house ever since, phasing the work over the past five years.Phase oneThe first project we completed was for the sash windows in two of the bedrooms. Both were sealed shut, so following a survey, we completed renovation works including sill repair and replacement, incorporating our innovative Ventrolla Perimeter Sealing System to eliminate draughts, and our Sash Removal System (SRS), so that any future decorating or repairs could be completed effortlessly. Both windows were completed with antique brass hardware, to complement existing fittings in the property.Phase twoIn 2018, The Anderson’s contacted us again. This time to complete work on their master bedroom window. This 6 by 6 pane Georgian sash window required extensive repair work, rail and sill replacement, and again we incorporated our unique draught-proofing and SRS systems.We also surveyed a pair of French doors for restoration – in the end, Mr & Mrs Anderson decided that they would prefer replacement doors made, rather than repairs carried out. As these were an exact, like-for-like replica of the existing doors in their home, Listed Building Consent wasn’t required. We crafted stunning timber French doors to mirror the originals, creating a seamless look and feel ­– including glass specially chosen to blend strength with the subtly ‘distorted’ look of old, heritage glazing.Following the works carried out, Mrs Anderson went on to review Ventrolla on independent review website, Trustpilot, rating Ventrolla 5-stars and commenting:“Excellent workmen. Pleased with product and will recommend.”Ventrolla replicated the existing Georgian timber doors, hand crafting new versions in their workshop.Phase threeWe were delighted to hear from The Anderson’s again in 2019 – and undertook restoration work on two of the property’s dining room windows. A complex project, due to foliage on the exterior restricting access, our team worked to release stuck sashes and restore them to their former glory. The works in this phase also included new joinery elements – replicating the existing single-glazed sashes with new versions, hand crafted by Ventrolla, in their Harrogate workshop.Phase fourMost recently, this year we were brought in to help Mr & Mrs Anderson again – to refurbish, draught-proof and craft new sashes for a sash window in a bathroom. Repairing the sash box and providing replacement sashes, we completed the window works with polished brass hardware.Mrs Anderson commented:“Once again, I was very pleased with all aspects of Ventrolla’s work. The team were reliable, polite and tidy – and my new windows look excellent. They’ve made the room warmer and less draughty.”Heighington Hall was thought to have been built in the early 17th century, and the home has many stunning Georgian features of the time, such as the twelve-pane sash windows, the sandstone front exterior and detailed stonework with fluted pilasters, dosserets and a scrolled pediment around the door. The Cooperage is located on a former industrial site in Central London and is believed to have been built in the early 1900s. Following an unsympathetic earlier restoration in the 1990s, Chris Dyson Architects were invited in 2011 to prepare a scheme for the extension and complete renovation of the property, turning it into a spectacular five bedroom family house. The former Queen Elizabeth Children’s Hospital building in Tower Hamlets, London lay abandoned and deteriorating after its closure in 1997. Twenty years later a vibrant new residential development stands in its place. Architects HTA Design liaised closely with heritage consultants to ensure that original key elements, such as the Hackney Road facade, were preserved and seamless integrated.The new building provides 188 homes of which 72 are Affordable. We were appointed to design, manufacture and install 122 timber tilt and turn windows with a high acoustic specification of 45 dB Rw; plus timber single doors and French doors.

78 St James Street, a very special office refurbishment in the heart of London’s Mayfair, has involved a slew of skilled and experienced contractors to make the Grade II* Victorian building a commercial space fit for 21st century working while retaining the building’s magnificent fabric. Halifax Glass has used Hodgson Sealants’ U9 silicone for sealing the building’s impressive timber window units.  The windows, which are the full height of the storeys on the front façade, required a specialist glazing company to meet the demands of the project. Halifax Glass has many years’ experience in creating architectural glazing solutions and was called in to produce and install the windows at St James Street using Hodgson Silfix U9 Silicone Sealant for the job.  Halifax Glass also used quantities of Hodgson’s Flexistrip, the market-leading load-bearing security glazing strip for installing double glazed units, laminated glass and single glass into windows and doors.

The door drive is just 7 cm tall, and integrates discreetly into the door frame to move the door leaf precisely, reliably, and extremely quietly. In the event of a fire, the swing doors also serve as barrier-free emergency exit doors.Automatic sliding doors: effortless door comfortA single leaf automatic sliding door with GEZE Slimdrive SL NT drive guides students and visitors into the interior of the Riverside campus. The highly modern building, which was nominated for the prestigious Stirling Prize, houses student accommodation hat is home to over 3,000 ship building and marine technology students.The slim Slimdrive SL NT drives (just 7 cm tall) integrate almost invisibly into the modern, column-encased entrance area, moving door leaves of up to 125 kg quietly and effortlessly. This makes it the ideal drive solution for a public building with consistently high traffic in both directions – especially one such as Riverside that is also used as a residential building. GEZE's modern door solutions have played a key part in ensuring students can move comfortably and safely through their environment.

This five-plot new build project in rural Lincolnshire required cream sash windows in order to match the local architecture, including the stone lintels and cills that had been selected. As a high-end development, the windows needed to be high spec and fully accredited.Solid cream Charisma Rose sash windows were ideal for the project. As a standard colour, the windows didn’t need to be foiled or sprayed. Woldgate School secured £1.3 million for improvements to its buildings from the Department for Education. The funds were to cover work including the removal and replacement of external walls not of brick construction, as well as windows and doors, many of which were the originals from when the school was first built. Profile 22 Approved Window Contractor Kingfisher Windows was appointed principal contractor for the works. The company undertook the design, manufacture and installation of the window element of the project and worked closely with trusted sub-contractors to deliver other aspects to the high standards the project demanded.

St Mary’s School in Calne, Wiltshire, is a leading UK independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18. It was founded in 1873 by local vicar, The Reverend John Duncan, who believed that the daughters of the town’s Anglican families at the time lacked access to a wide-ranging education. The school moved to the current site in 1907 and over the years as the school grew, nearby properties were bought and new buildings were established.Clement Windows Group was chosen to manufacture and install almost 40 new steel windows to replace the original steel windows on the front and gable ends of the Plumer Wing which comprises classrooms for music, computing, Religious Education and art. Windows from the EB20 steel window range were chosen and these were polyester powder coat painted RAL 7016 (Anthracite Grey) instead of white like the original windows.This was the second phase of work for Clement who had previously manufactured the steel windows for the rear elevations of the building. The school acted as the main contractor and CDM lead for the job and Clement was the sole contractor on site. The project was completed to programme and budget during a break from the school term with minimum disruption to the school overall.Bob Lunn, Director of Estates at St Mary’s said “The installation of 83 high quality Clement windows, which were installed in two phases during 2021 and 2022, have significantly enhanced the aesthetics and environmental efficiency of this building. The urgent need for a replacement rear goods entrance at a high-turnover commercial fast-food restaurant brought our proposed comprehensive solution to address both security and functionality concerns.Recognising the critical role of a secure entrance in the restaurant’s operations, we recommended the installation of a commercial-grade steel door and frame. This robust system not only provided enhanced security but also ensured ease of use for restaurant staff, crucial for maintaining smooth workflow amid the bustling environment. Anticipating the challenges posed by the high usage typical in such establishments, we tailored the solution to withstand heavy use and abuse, including the impact of large food delivery cages. To bolster the door’s durability, we integrated a custom heavy duty pyramid bumper bar system, extending its lifespan and longevity against daily wear and tear.Moreover, to enhance security measures and streamline access control, we incorporated a digital keypad externally. This feature allowed the door to be kept closed and locked securely while granting staff convenient access from outside. Not only did this improve security protocols, but it also contributed to rodent control efforts by minimising entry points. Additionally, to impress trade visitors and further elevate the entrance experience, we introduced a modern digital video door entry system. This innovative technology provided a seamless connection between the entrance and kitchen staff, enabling real-time visual identification of visitors and ensuring efficient management of incoming deliveries and guests. By seamlessly integrating security, functionality, and modern technology, we successfully revitalised the rear goods entrance, ensuring it could meet the demands of the fast-paced restaurant environment while enhancing overall operational efficiency and security measures.

With a focus on both functionality and aesthetics, our team applied high-quality powder coating to the grilles, ensuring they seamlessly complemented the stores' branding and visually stunning interiors.This meticulous attention to detail underscores our commitment to meeting the unique security and design needs of our clients, such as Louis Vuitton, in enhancing the overall shopping experience for their customers.

Clement EB24 steel windows, doors and screens were the ideal choice of fenestration when it came to this jaw-dropping project in Arundel. The combination of T bars, slim, dark frames and satin chrome accessories create just the right look.Achieving such an exceptional appearance did not mean that performance had to be compromised. The 24mm insulated glass units are not only argon filled, but also include a Silverstar E glass coating. Chosen for its thermal insulation layers which lower both the thermal loss of the glass and energy consumption while allowing high light transmission.Our client explained the project and her experience of Clement Windows:“When we finally made our decision to modify and extend our 16th century, Grade II building, we knew that we had a challenge on our hands. We owed it to the history and unique position of the existing premises to choose first class materials and workmanship.Our brief to the architect was that we really needed to maximise natural light as my husband has sight issues. The building faces north, north east so this was going to be really tricky. The windows were going to be big!The search for the best then began and luckily some clients of ours recommended Clement Windows. We visited the showroom, liked what we saw and began the design and surveying process. The quality of the steel, the finish and the fit were head and shoulders above anything else that we had looked at. We wanted an unfussy, minimalist profile inside and out. Simple lines and workmanship one could trust. Clement ticked all the boxes.A few months later the team showed up to fit the glass. We did have certain logistical issues relating to access but these were overcome with good planning. At the end of two weeks, we had a home! The installation of the glass transformed a building site into an incredible, light-filled architectural space that then became the most stunning home we could ever have dreamed of living in.”

A beautiful Yorkshire family home has found a new lease of life with the addition of aluminium doors and windows replacing the existing timber frames. Achieved using Reynaers bi-folding and sliding doors; CF 68 and CP 130, as well as door and window systems; CS 68 and ES 50. Alongside striking visuals, the unique design of the frames makes for excellent performance characteristics, meeting the highest requirements when it comes to insulation, stability and safety, while perfectly framing the garden views. Elsewhere, aluminium windows have improved day-to-day usability, with sliding opening options reducing draughts and improving ventilation.

Accoya was used to construct the external windows, window reveals & doors. 38 Accoya fixed & opening windows were installed, & 22 glazed door leafs. They will require little maintenance over their lifetime due to the process in which the wood is made. Caspar Rodgers from Alma-nac commented: “We chose Accoya because we wanted to build using eco-friendly materials that could withstand the variable weather conditions that are characteristic of England’s southern coast. Accoya is well-respected within the industry as a highly sustainable product that has high levels of durability & stability"

Naturally this was an incredibly sensitive project for Clement. This Listed Building is of great architectural significance and the fact that we would be replacing metal windows, some of which were over 170 years old, meant a great deal of planning and thought went into deciding the correct specification. Clement’s EB20 range of steel windows was specified by the architect to best replicate the original windows, while still improving the thermal efficiency which was so important for the building’s residents, the religious order of Saint Bernard.

St Benedict's School in Ealing, West London holds the distinction of being the only the third Passivhaus certified school in the UK. We were naturally delighted to be part of the construction team for such an exciting project. Architects van Heyningen and Haward were commissioned to design two new Passivhaus buildings for the independent Catholic school - a sixth form centre and a primary building. We were appointed to design, manufacture and install 78 Passivhaus-certified aluminium clad windows, with a Uw rating of just 0.79. We also provided thermally-efficient timber aluminium curtain walling, plus Reynaers CS 86-Hi high-insulation aluminium doors.

EB24 cottage pane style steel windows featuring the G+ system with a Fenestra joint were chosen by the client to replicate and replace the original windows in this beautiful 1930s private residence. The open-sided loggia leads out to the garden - Clement were able to manufacture this screen in the EB24 window system to match all other fenestration. The new EB24 windows to the feature stairwell window allow lots of light into the centre of the house. The original timber surrounds were in good condition throughout the property and so were retained by Clement to house the new steel windows.

HAG was entrusted with supplying a suite of fire protection solutions, including fire curtains and shutters, to HSBC UK’s flagship office, One Centenary Square, located in Birmingham.This cutting-edge conversion of a ten-storey building symbolised a substantial £200 million investment in the West Midlands. Working within this expansive 1.5 million square foot site posed significant challenges, especially given the heights involved. However, HAG met these challenges head-on, prioritising safety throughout the project. By integrating HAG's advanced fire safety measures, HSBC UK's new headquarters not only stands as one of Birmingham's greenest buildings but also aligns seamlessly with the company's esteemed brand standards.

Environmentally friendly larch with an innovative wood protection treatment, supplied by International Timber, has helped husband and wife team, Dan and Nina Rowland build their sustainable, three-storey dream home in Chichester.

An urban luxury conversion in the heart of Nottingham City Centre. This project involved the contractor converting a commercial building within a conservation area into luxury apartments.There were various design issues that needed to be overcome, including curved on plan bays. The curved bays required a bay pole system to allow the installer to gain the necessary shape profile.An added challenge was window size. There were a number of large, multi-part windows in apartments accessed via tight staircases and small door openings. To overcome this we made some of the larger units in kit form and sent one of our experienced fabricators to site to assemble them in situ.A key requirement was noise abatement which was achieved with acoustic glazing and an optimal 100mm air gap, adding - on average - 35DB of noise reduction on top of that provided by the primary windows.The end result were minimal profiles matching original sightlines, coupled with significant thermal and acoustic performance improvements. 

Sash Window Renovation and casement window renovation on an Imposing Georgian HouseMrs Shepherd had recently bought a beautiful Georgian house, undeterred by the fact that all of its windows were in poor condition. Clement have now completed their third phase of works at Norwich City Hall, an Art Deco building completed in 1938 and designed by architects Charles Holloway James and Stephen Rowland Pierce. Clement replaced the original steel windows in this listed property with new Clement W20 windows, improving energy efficiency and security whilst retaining the character of this wonderful landmark building. Morgan Sindall, the main contractors on the project, have awarded Clement a Perfect Delivery Certificate for the works carried out.

Virgo Fidelis Convent School was founded in 1848. The beautiful Gothic style, club head windows with feature tear drops are a main feature of the building. The original single glazed windows were made from cast iron, offering very poor thermal performance and minimal security. After 100 years the time had come to replace them. Project managers Synergy Construction & Property Consultants were seeking a window system that could not only replicate the original design but would also meet modern performance criteria. Clement’s EB24 steel window range met these requirements.
