Leading high street retailer Marks & Spencer knows that a happy workforce makes for happy customers. The modernisation of staff catering areas in stores required replacing traditional drink machines with instant hot water taps for greater efficiency and general staff wellbeing.

As part of the palace refurbishment project, the lighting winch division of multi-award winning UK manufacturer, Penny Hydraulics Ltd, were contacted in 2016 to design, manufacture and install a specialist lighting winch system to lift and lower the special chandelier for cleaning and general maintenance.

The Garscube is described as an ‘urban barn’; with a low slung fibre cement slate pitched roof intended to be sympathetic to the character of neighbouring properties. The building sports a single homogenous fibre cement slate skin to form both walls and roof alongside generous window openings.

Spectraplan has provided an innovative roofing solution for a major refurbishment to the newly named, Jack Jones House in Liverpool. Designed and built in the 1970’s, Jack Jones House (formerly Transport House) has been totally refurbished and renamed for Unite, the trade union. Jack Jones was the former leader of the TGWU, the Transport and General Workers’ Union.

The Sports Hall was built to replace the former gymnasium originally designed by John Francis Bentley, the architect of Westminster Cathedral in 1888. Although the primary function of the hall is for sporting activities, the school needed a hall for exams, general assemblies, presentations, parents' evenings and plays. So DYNAMIK installed several methods to protect the floor when not being used for sport.

An independent residential mental health facility, which houses 16 residents with long-term mental health illnesses, has recently been completed in Bedwas South Wales. To ensure the facility complemented the local area, OMI Architects specified Wienerberger's Anglesey Weathered Buff brick, as its patina and worn nature generate harmony with its surrounding area.

Built in 1904, Lots Road power station generated electricity to power London’s Tube network until the mid-1960s. Chelsea Waterfront is the glamorous transformation of this fabulous piece of British industrial architecture and its surroundings. Now a bohemian urban neighbourhood within walking distance to the fashionable end of Kings Road. Majestic were invited to supply Napoli and Genoa screens for the residences.

The client, a rugby club in Leicestershire, had recently upgraded their facilities to include new function rooms. They were now planning to improve their 4500m2 car park to replace the existing loose planings with a safe, permanent all weather surface. Artform Urban provide modern and stylish cantilever seating to a new Arts and Humanities facility, at the University of Liverpool. The Yoko Ono Lennon Centre is a newly built teaching and performance building, named in honour of Yoko Ono Lennon, an Honorary Graduate of the University (Hon LLD 2001), campaign ambassador and long-standing philanthropic supporter. It houses the 400 seat Tung Auditorium with space for a 70 piece orchestra, as well as a state of the art 600 seat lecture theatre. Architects and lead designers Ellis Williams worked alongside a number of acoustic and structural engineers in order to achieve optimum acoustic profile and capacity for the orchestra. Artform Urban was appointed by HA Civils to provide seating elements for the landscaped exterior space of the building. The Generation 50 Seat with cantilevered legs was specified for the project due to its minimal and contemporary design that includes a curved timber cladding that echoes that of the main entrance of the building. It is the first installation of Generation 50 in the UK. The Generation 50 range was designed by Robert Chipman and offers a flexible ensemble of style and mounting options.Available with four different cast aluminium powder-coated leg fixing options, a range of armrests and a number of timber options including ipe, jarrah, and thermally modified ash. National Innovation Centre for Ageing and Data Science (NICAD) is a flagship building in Newcastle upon Tyne on the high-tech, city centre Helix Science Site where a number of building are being constructed. The client wanted an integrated PV system that didn’t compromise the integrity of the green roof solution being installed. Bauder were asked to design and supply a 30.78kWp system, generating an estimated 26,140kWh per annum.

Like many workplaces, a good cup of tea is a necessity for the staff at Wiltshire Council and, after years of faithful service from their older generation Zip HydroTaps, Wiltshire Council’s drinking stations were due a refresh. A new mains-fed drinking water system was required that could meet the hot beverage demands of all the council employees, at the same time as fitting the building’s energy saving criteria.

In addition to the repair of damage to the building fabric, the main objective was the general  modernization of the property within the framework of the preservation of historical monuments. The combination of Lindner's modern hollow floor system FLOOR and more® and the historic overlay therefore met all the requirements. The Hepworth Gallery required access to their low pitched roofs to facilitate safe working at height when carrying out external glazing cleaning and general maintenance. The concrete design of the building resulted in a thin roof construction, so The Gallery needed to ensure that any systems installed were fit-for-purpose, fully tested and compatible. With such a prestigious and architecturally prominent building, it was imperative that the chosen system also suited the design of the building.

Vandersanden has installed their first wind turbine at their Lanklaar site in Belgium. The wind turbine will supply 10,000 MWh of green energy annually, equivalent to the energy consumption of 2,000 families. With this new sustainable milestone, Vandersanden aims to make their production processes and sector more sustainable. The family business continues to build a green future. In recent years, Vandersanden has invested in solar panels and the use of geothermal power to generate heat and electricity.  "At Vandersanden, we don't think in years, but in generations. That is why we find it extremely important to manufacture as sustainably as possible, for people and the environment, for now and later", says Raf Jansen, COO at Vandersanden. "Alternative green energy sources are the future. With our wind turbine, we are helping to build that greener future."Production of enough energy to power 2,000 householdsIn November 2021, Vandersanden started with the preparatory works on its premises for the installation of the wind turbine. All construction elements, such as the mast sections and rotor blades, were delivered in April and the assembly was completed in early May. Currently, the electrical works are in progress and the connection of the wind turbine to the electricity grid is being prepared... The wind turbine has a full height of 200 metres and will supply 10,000 MWh of energy annually. That is equivalent to the energy consumption of approximately 2,000 families. More than 50% of the energy generated will be used for Vandersanden's activities at its site in Lanklaar. Remaining energy will be offered to the grid as green electricity. "Not only do we want to make our own production process and our own sector greener, we also like giving something back to the community," Raf Jansen explains.
