University Campus, Loughborough (2014)

Artform were approached to assist on external building works as part of Loughborough University’s campus master plan. The scheme consisted of an open plaza plus a more formal, secluded seating garden. The landscape architect, BCA Landscape, were looking for simple seating made from quality materials. In addition to providing an aesthetic appeal that complimented the campus, it was also important that the products chosen were tough and durable. Giada Benches and Salgueiro Granite Blocks were chosen for their simplicity, exceptional value and effortless functionality. The Giada’s overall weight also influenced the product choice by being unmovable once installed.
Hudson Quarter, York (2021)

Hudson Quarter is a modern development consisting of four buildings that surround a central courtyard. The £35 million investment has provided 127 apartments over three buildings and a Grade A office space.The site sits on the former grounds of the city’s first railway station and within the ancient city walls. To remain sympathetic to these historic factors and York’s distinctive character the buildings have been deliberately built close together, to mimic tight spaces in the city. The external walls are angled to reflect the organic nature of York’s core. As a connection with its railway past the apartment blocks are all named after stations – Waverley, Victoria, and Kings. Hudson Quarter’s buildings have been carefully designed to step down from Toft Green towards the City Walls to create a new public pedestrian connection between the nearby train station and the Micklegate area. It is here that Artforms Cestis Litter Bins have been supplied to provide a robust waste management solution.The Cestis litter bin features a stylish and simple design with a cast aluminium pole, a galvanised steel container and cast aluminium cover. Further to this, a number of Cafe Cycle Stands with matching powder coated finish to the bins have been installed running parallel to the exterior of the building and ancient walls. Cafe cycle stands offer a unique approach to cycle parking that elevates a space whilst maintaining a secure structure for cycle locking.Using a careful and considerate approach in a highly sensitive location Hudson Quarter has successfully provided a vibrant new place to live and work in the City of York.
University of Liverpool, Liverpool (2013)

The University of Liverpool developed a circular paved area outside of the listed Victoria Gallery and Museum, to commemorate HM Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee celebrations in 2012. The area was designed to host ceremonial presentations and to be used as a break out space. Artform were required to supply circular seating that would line up with the paving and suit the overall area. The Diamante Seating Range was chosen for having a flexible design that worked with the client's initial ideas. The project made a significant improvement to the previously unused space, linking the university to the city.
Aston University, Birmingham (2013)

Aston University invested in developing the campus. This project was to add more seating areas to the external spaces on the campus to encourage use by the students. Artform were approached to supply a bespoke stainless steel seating design. The bespoke elliptical benches were designed to have a wing profile rather than a flat surface for improved comfort. Some Standard seating was also requested and the Libre Seating was chosen as it showed consistency with the rest of the project. The main courtyards within the university campus are now frequently used.
RHS Garden, Wisley (2019)

Artform Urban supplied a range of solar powered lighting elements to The Royal Horticultural Society’s garden, Wisley in Surrey. The requirement for the job was for external lighting in prominent parts of the gardens to assist with wayfinding when dark.The Point Sun and Sunstone are 100% cable free, self-charging ambient light sources.The end result is that visitors and staff can now walk around safely in the dark thanks to eco-friendly lighting.
Redrock Development, Stockport (2017)

The Redrock Development, previously known as the Bridgefield site, is a new leisure destination in the heart of Stockport town centre. The Client required a range of products for this project, including the MultipliCITY seats & benches, which were supplied and manufactured under licence in the UK by Artform Urban, the Big Harris Benches which were customised with LED illumination, and two bespoke sedum roof cycle shelters. Artform provided their expert knowledge for the design and installation of these individual products.
Wapping Wharf, Bristol (2015)

Artform were approached by Gillespies to explore some ideas for using bespoke granite blocks on this new development at Wapping Wharf. Communication & coordination were key to making sure that the bespoke granite blocks were the precise measurements required for the lighting columns to be fitted correctly. The advice and experience provided by Artform helped to solve problems that other suppliers were unwilling to address or tackle. The particular aspect of this project that was most innovative was utilising the granite block for the functional purpose of a foundation for the lighting column, but in a decorative manner.
Tiber Square, Liverpool (2016)

The Tiber Square project involved the renovation of a community space in Liverpool. It was inspired by a group of 14-18 year olds who are members of the Tiber Young People’s Steering Group (TYPSG). The group of young people were given the opportunity to improve their local area thanks to a 100K grant from a national scheme, which supplied funding for just 24 town centres or high streets across the UK. Artform Urban were asked to supply robust but inspiring picnic sets for the new community development. The products chosen were the Twin picnic sets from our Metalco range.
Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester (2018)

Wythenshawe Hospital has implemented a £17 million development to double its available resources for patients, staff and visitors.
Included was the expansion of the children's Emergency Department, with a new purpose built paediatric area, specifically designed to improve the treatment for patients up to 16 years of age.
Artform Urban were asked to provide colourful, free-standing seating for a courtyard space, adjacent to the paediatric area.
The Loop Arc Bench was offered as a lightweight seating solution that could be weighted down while remaining moveable if necessary.
Stockport Exchange, Stockport (2020)

Stockport Exchange has been undergoing extensive refurbishment since 2014 with improvements to the train station, a new multi storey car park, new retail and leisure facilities as well as office buildings. Given its location on the doorstep of one of the busiest train routes in the country, connections to London in under 2 hours, and less than 10 minute journey into Manchester - The potential and popularity of the scheme has seen well known brands such as Stage Coach, Music Magpie and many others fully occupying the office spaces. The external area surrounding the buildings is completely pedestrianised with a combination of paved walkways, grass plots, and raised concrete edging for plants and trees. An open green space that is the first thing visitors see of Stockport after leaving the train station.Artform Urban were asked to provide their popular Stone Benches in HPC Granite with a smooth Velluto finish. The unique design and polished finish invites users to interact whether to rest or to climb and play. The solid stone bench becomes an immovable barrier offering security and protection once it has to be maneuvered into place with cranes. A modern and monolithic design that creates a striking visual contrast to the contemporary glass and steel architecture. The stone bench range has recently been expanded with three sizes now being offered in new finishes.The client, George Cox & Sons, have a mission to present a high quality finish on all their projects that provide essential transport links. Stockport Exchange is another excellent scheme added to their portfolio. The regeneration scheme has and continues to be a success for Stockport Council and is a benchmark for future renovations to the town centre.

Furnitubes' RailRoad design was the perfect choice for the roof-top of award-winning apartments Green Dragon House, with its modular design allowing seating and planters to be linked to create large structures that can be left freestanding, without the need to bolt down. The RailRoad products were complemented by the use of the Hollo range coffee tables, and a bespoke dining table with Hollo stools completed the suite of products supplied.

The new city centre campus at Cardiff & Vale College sees a distinctive wedge shape building designed with a high focus on sustainability. Furnitubes designers worked closely with the project contractors and Architects involved who were keen to encourage open welcoming spaces for students and members of the public. Part of the solution included a bespoke Elements Podium platform, manufactured in iroko timber slats with steel supports. The platform created an informal seating provision to encourage interaction and socialisation amongst students. Also supplied to the development were a number of contemporary seats and benches to suit the character of the scheme.

Enfield Town Park is a 9.5-hectare green open space in the heart of the Enfield Town, north London. Following a series of consultations with the public and park user groups, works were undertaken in to restore the lake, reinstate public access to it, repair the leaks, and add wildlife friendly features to the area. Furnitubes supplied two types of products to the scheme – concrete Blyth cube seating blocks and Parallel table and bench sets.

New development Colindale offices is recently home to London Borough of Barnet staff and community facilities. Furnitubes has supplied 6 table and bench sets and a further 7 independent benches from the RailRoad Inline range, with ‘Delta’ supports that can be readily bolted down to the decking of the new roof terrace located on the 4th floor. Eleven RailRoad planters have been placed in the gravel margins to perfectly compliment the nearby seating, and planted with contemporary box topiary balls.

When the Vivienne Westwood group wanted to project their brand image on to their outlet entrances, they contacted ASH directly to design a door handle.Using the well-known iconic orb logo as a starting point we created a unique polished brass profile with engraved features which reflects their brand and also feels comfortable to touch and operate.We are proud to have provided such a bespoke handle to the location in Nottingham, the same city where the handle was manufactured, and even prouder to see the handle still on the doors 15 years later, providing a testament to the quality and durability of our products and craftsmenship.

Artform were approached by Design Coalition to provide ideas on an impressive outdoor seating solution, as part of redevelopment plans to enhance and update the exterior of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow. Artform recommended using their large “feature piece” Moonstone sculptural seat for the space identified. The end result for this scheme was a striking waiting area at the entrance of the hotel that echoed the message of luxury and quality assurance that the Crowne Plaza brand is associated with.

Artform were a part of this project from the very beginning and were available to tackle the challenges with their expertise. Specialist lifting equipment was needed for the installation due to the 4.4tonne weight of the Moonstones. The Artform team, having installed Moonstone Benches previously relied on their knowledge to make the install as smooth as possible offering full assistance to the site team.
The new Ice Arena has improved a part of Slough by revitalising the space it inhabits to encourage the wider community to come together and be social.

The Concourse, part of The University of Sheffield’s ongoing public realm regeneration is a key thoroughfare, connecting the Students’ Union with the Alfred Denny Building and one of the most used areas of the campus.
Artform Urban were approached to provide a waste and recycling solution that would complement this modern and uncluttered space, whilst also having the capacity to meet the high demand in this busy area.
The Pack Litter Bin was chosen due to its adaptability and durability.The bins ensure that this heavily used space remains clean and tidy whilst uncompromising on the forward looking environment.

Teesbay is an out of town retail park in Hartlepool. A safe environment was required for pedestrians walking around the site, and cycle parking was needed to visitors and employees. Artform provided Corten steel bollards and cycle stands to compliment the facades of the existing shops and eateries. The products chosen provided a coordinated finish, durability and ultimate protection which matched the clients needs.
Nine Elms, London

A recently completed residential complex in the centre of London is where you will find this magnificent building which has been finished to the highest standard. The reception area is welcomed by a circular entrance with a pool of water at the centre. The stone that's been used is a pale cream and the metal work is a light bronze. We provided the pull door handles which complement the colours and materials used. The have been finished in a dark bronze adding a dramatic entrance across the front of the building and on the main entrance. You can find a range of finishes which we offer across a range of products. The front of the building benefits from planted up areas which breaks up the hard lines, this along with the curved stone seated areas creates a pleasant place to sit and sip a coffee. There have also made great use of lighting in the main lobby area and the reception is grand and welcoming. The style of our handles used are Ash 103.
Nine Elms Point, London (2017)

Nine Elms Point is a new apartment complex in London. A part of the project was to offer a green space of landscaped gardens for residents, to enhance the community feel. This included many walkways which required seating. Artform were consulted regarding the supply of standard products to the residential area, which needed a bespoke feel. The award winning Multiplicity seating, with its cast aluminium support structure was suggested, as this could allow for a selection of alternate timber to be used, giving the client flexibility and confidence that it would blend with the landscape.
Town Centre Regeneration, Eastbourne (2015)

This project was part of an investment to re-enliven the shared space of this popular seaside location, as part of the social and economic regeneration scheme. Artform supplied the Stop Bollard from the Metro40 Collection, designed by BMW Group Design Work, for use outside of Eastbourne Train Station. The bollards were required as a physical demarcation between the pedestrian zone and the drop off point, which is designed to be at the same level, without a kerbside. The products installed will serve as highly visible barriers with the addition of reflective banding that meet Network Rail’s safety standards.
The Regeneration of Eaglesham Environment, Glasgow (2019)

The Regeneration of Eaglesham Environment is a -not-for-profit volunteer organisation, established to improve Eaglesham’s outdoor areas and promote community spirit. Artform assisted their latest project to brighten up a central area of the village that had become overgrown and neglected. Flo planters were chosen for their robust, attractive and customisable design. The planters were delivered to the site and installed by the hardworking volunteers and the result is a much improved space for the village.

Superdry’s new flagship store in Oxford Street London, is a 29,000 square foot UK hub for shopping, wholesale, and brand ambassadors. We had the pleasure of working with the team at Technical Signs where together we designed and manufactured a bespoke pull door handle that fitted Superdry’s criteria and specification, encompassing their brand and values whilst also remaining practical.Bespoke 2.5M full height antique brass pull handles with the Superdry logo engraved were the final product which were hand crafted for the all of the exterior doors.
CAERNARFON CASTLE HAS A REVAMP

May 6th 2023 will see the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. At ASH we also have royal connections and last year completed a project on the historical grounds of Caernarfon Castle in Gwynedd, North Wales. In April we took the opportunity to go and visit the site and it exceeded expectations. They have merged the old with the new in creating a impressive area for visitors to enjoy the views of the grounds. The timber deck area encompasses large bronze sculptors including one of hands cupping coins and the cascade down the timber steps. We manufactured and suppled a bespoke version of our ASH145 pull door handle in Bronze Patina. These handles had a added curve on the bottom end creating a double ski effect mounted on to our bespoke plates which are recessed into the structure of the door. Hard Rock Hotel, London

The Hard Rock hotels are an iconic music brand with an international presence.During the refurbishment of their retail premises in Great Cumberland Place, London they approached ASH to design a handle that reflected the values synonymous with their music brand and could be placed throughout the hotel.During the briefing session their iconic music associations and guitars were chosen as a product that many people identified with and was a design that could be practically developed into an entrance handle and handles throughout that kept it’s original design qualities whilst remaining practical and functional.Following the initial briefing ASH worked to develop the design for their new pull door handles, informing the client throughout the design process and providing technical drawings for the client’s interior designers.
Canada Water Project Hub, London (2021)

The historic Grade II listed former dock offices will be home of the Project Hub for the Canada Water Masterplan to oversee the regeneration of Canada Water into a new town centre for the local area. The Hub will contain a flexible exhibition and event space, as well as office space for project staff.Artform Urban have supplied a range of seating to the Project Hub to create a welcoming courtyard space for staff and visitors to enjoy during the ongoing project works and beyond.The Dea-Diva-Lua-Ela-Stella seating range is manufactured entirely from thick laser-cut sheet steel that has been powder coated with a high-quality Faux Corten effect paint. The distinctive and unique pattern is derived from the surrounding landscape that sits at home in the leafy space. The seats are part of a range of products designed by French architect Marc Aurel that include litter bins and tree grilles all featuring the recognisable and attractive perforated leaf designs.The Canada Water Masterplan is expected to deliver up to 3,000 new homes, two million sq ft of workspace and one million sq ft of retail, leisure, entertainment and community space including proposed health and social infrastructure, and educational uses for all ages.The vision for Canada Water is to be a place where the community will shape and share in the development's success.
100 Greengate / Anaconda Cut, Salford (2019)

Anaconda Cut, also known as 100 Greengate, is a 44 storey apartment building. Situated next to the River Irwell, it is the tallest building in the City of Salford and one of the tallest in Greater Manchester.It is home to 349 elegant rental apartments, including luxury penthouses. Artform were asked to provide external seating, tables & planters for 2 roof terraces. Our popular range of out-sider products were considered due to the lightweight nature for manoeuvring, material durability and a wide range of colour options.A key factor in the design discussion was the end client's concerns regarding the use of timber products for a variety of reasons, including maintenance resulting in alternative materials being sourced. One of the key benefits of the Loop range of products is that they don't need to be permanently fixed down and can also be filled with either sand or in this instance water, adding ballast weight, taking a product with an initial weight of 37kg to in excess of 250kg.
Dalton Retail Park Outlet, Seaham (2017)

Dalton Retail Outlet Park in the North East was modernised in order to create a premium shopping destination. Contemporary external landscaping as well as lighting, bespoke planters, seating and signage were to be part of the planned renovations. Product suggestions made by the Artform team offered a consistent design and complemented the original brief, whilst offering a robust durable result and a cost effective solution. The Stone Bench, Treeline bench, FGP seats and FGP Litter Bins were chosen to suit the overall project theme.
Edge Hill University Campus, Ormskirk (2013)

The Edge Hill University redevelopment of the Eastern Campus landscape had a master plan that included a range of seating to complement other factors on this ambitious scheme. Artform were asked to supply architectural seating in the forms of The Salgueiro and Couso seats from the Gravin range. The seating had to be robust and durable with a simple and minimalist design to suit the project. Artform were able to supply these products on a short lead time which suited the needs of the client and the project.
Republic at East India Dock, London (2018)

East India Dock is a refurbished site in East London, comprising of 6,000m2 of office workspace and a new area of public realm. The previously underutilised space has been fabulously transformed, including the creation of a pedestrian only external landscaped area. Artform Urban were commissioned to provide litter bins for the public realm and surrounding areas. The client needed the litter bins to be multifunctional for the project, allowing litter to be segregated into both general waste and recycling. The Spencer R Litter Bin was the optimal solution for the site, from design to budget.
Hyde Park Speakers Corner, London (2018)

Speakers Corner, located on the northeast edge of London’s Hyde Park, close to the world famous Oxford Street.
In 1872, an act of parliament set aside this section of Hyde Park for public speaking. Some historic figures were known to use the area to demonstrate free speech. Even today, it's not unusual to find crowds gathering at Speakers' Corner to listen to enthusiasts.
Artform were commissioned to supply a number of customised Icaro Notice Boards, as part of the refurbishment to the area, designed to provide visitors with information regarding the history of the location.
Yoko Ono Lennon Centre, Liverpool (2022)

Artform Urban provide modern and stylish cantilever seating to a new Arts and Humanities facility, at the University of Liverpool. The Yoko Ono Lennon Centre is a newly built teaching and performance building, named in honour of Yoko Ono Lennon, an Honorary Graduate of the University (Hon LLD 2001), campaign ambassador and long-standing philanthropic supporter. It houses the 400 seat Tung Auditorium with space for a 70 piece orchestra, as well as a state of the art 600 seat lecture theatre. Architects and lead designers Ellis Williams worked alongside a number of acoustic and structural engineers in order to achieve optimum acoustic profile and capacity for the orchestra. Artform Urban was appointed by HA Civils to provide seating elements for the landscaped exterior space of the building. The Generation 50 Seat with cantilevered legs was specified for the project due to its minimal and contemporary design that includes a curved timber cladding that echoes that of the main entrance of the building. It is the first installation of Generation 50 in the UK. The Generation 50 range was designed by Robert Chipman and offers a flexible ensemble of style and mounting options.Available with four different cast aluminium powder-coated leg fixing options, a range of armrests and a number of timber options including ipe, jarrah, and thermally modified ash. Providing a perfect addition to complete a range of urban landscapes. The Yoko Ono Lennon Centre will develop a programme of new public-facing cultural highlights including concerts, lectures as well as other events in the University calendar, and will be the new home to the Music Department’s popular Lunchtime Concert Series.Yoko Ono Lennon said:“It gives me great pleasure to know that this centre will serve as a new opportunity for countless future artists and musicians to communicate their work with the local audience in Liverpool, and the world beyond.
