Speedor high speed doors activated by vehicles allow for efficient movement in and out of the building.The successThe doors, installed at feed intake tipping bays, improve aesthetics of the facility, prevent ingress of wildlife into the building and dust being blown over adjacent properties. Speedors do a tremendous job when required for fast open/close cycles at locations such as this where tipping feed can create dust for example. We designed taller and narrower doors – 7.5m high x 3.2m wide – to accommodate the dimensions of the tipping trucks and overall the installation works very well for a happy client

The scope of this ambitious project was to restore and transform an abandoned Neo-Gothic Cemetery Keeper’s Lodge with adjoining public facility into a luxurious mansion in just 12 months.  Works included demolishing the adjoining public facility to enable the construction of a new basement.The proposed new build construction would be a luxury ground floor extension which would run the footprint of the redundant public facility to offer a 4,000 square foot subterrain space with key features such as 13-meter swimming pool, 2 additional bedrooms, a tv games room and office space.Simon Gill Architect designed the ambitious project and was appointed as Project Manager.Delta Registered Installers 5 Star Basements were employed to undertake both dig out and installation of the structural waterproofing with Delta’s Technical Waterproofing Consultant, Paul Callaghan representing Delta. This approach at the design stage, allowed Paul to attend design team meetings and to ensure all criteria’s of BS8102:2009 were met.As aired on Grand Designs on 6th January 2021.

Split over basement, ground and three upper floors, the Charles Doll Building on Grape Street, London, offers a contemporary and functional specification in this stunning office refurbishment. The development mixes industrial elements with a crisp modern aesthetic by carefully combining characterful architectural features, including vaulted ceilings with exposed brick and steelwork.Named after its architect Charles Fitzroy Doll, the building is clad in decorative thé-au-lait (“tea with milk”) terracotta – Doll's use of grand façades is understood to have resulted in the expression, ‘all dolled up’. The first floor has been fitted out to a high standard with office furniture from Vitra, providing the perfect space for those who want to move in and get straight to work.The lobby mixes vibrate contemporary wall art with industrial light fittings and brickwork. Forza’s in-house CAD team planned the bespoke black oak Firescreen partition wall to match the architect's design. As a market leading passive fire product, this Firescreen provides both integrity from Smoke and Fire and insulation from heat. This is important because in a fire emergency heat has been shown to ignite secondary fires to items, such as curtains or carpets, that are near the other side of non-insulated partitions.Via the Thinking Space Design & Build, Forza Doors supplied twenty FD30 Fire Doors with stained frames and skirting boards to match throughout the five floors of The Charles Doll Building. Chosen to match the steelwork throughout the development, the dark satin finish of the doors was selected from Forza’s Creato range of dyed veneers. This ‘Illunis’ finish is one of twelve fashionable choices in the range. Dyed veneers are an increasingly popular choice with designers as they offer cost savings over stained veneers without compromising quality.The Doors with glass vision panels, required to allow light through to the stairwells, feature our flush and quirk bead. A minimalist design option where one side of the doors is completely flush right up to the glass vision panel and the other side has a very simple elegant bead detailing.

An innovative door design was required for a new manufacturing process about to be introduced in the new Nissan battery plant manufacturing facility. Project/doors:100 Bespoke Conveyor screensThe challengeNissan required a unique door for a new production facility. The doors needed to give 60-minute fire resistance and be capable of completing up to 400,000 open/close cycles a year. Further, the doors needed to meet strict air leakage criteria and be able to withstand sudden air-pressure increases. The doors also had to interface with third-party equipment such as conveyor belt controls and fire alarms. Each required an LCD display control panel that provided a quick and easy diagnosis of what each door was doing at any point in time. The solution Using an already proven design solution which Hart developed for the baggage handling system in Heathrow’s Terminal 5, Hart adapted the product to suit this new requirement. As this was not a product already on offer, invention and rigorous testing were required.The successA decade has passed since the doors were installed and commissioned. The facility continues the manufacture of the battery cells and the doors remain a critical part of the success of the plant and have proved exceptional reliability and total cost of ownership

Bellway Homes became the latest major house builder to specify Modus, an innovative new PVC-U window and door system from Eurocell. Rectory Road in Leicester is a development of nine properties in a conservation area, this meant that the planners had to approve external elements of the properties, including windows.The Modus flush sash was specified because both Bellway Homes and the planning authorities felt that it offered an aesthetic rival to timber windows.

Positioned at the front of the establishment, this terrace would not only enhance the dining experience but also provide patrons with a warm and enticing view of the dining facility.To bring this vision to life, we proposed a sophisticated bi-folding system designed to offer an expansive opening, effectively blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. This innovative solution provided a seamless transition, allowing guests to seamlessly move between the restaurant’s interior and the charming patio terrace. Moreover, the bi-folding system was equipped with an easy-to-use lockable folding door mechanism, ensuring both security and convenience for staff. The specification of the locker is 1800 high, 300 wide and 450 deep, powder coated in black and with a laminate door colour of ‘Fenix Nero’.‘Fenix Nero’ is an aesthetic style of laminate, which has low light reflectivity with a matt surface. Additionally, it has a soft touch as well as being anti-fingerprint colour.On the laminated lockers the clients decided to have an oval laminate number plate with a key, making it easy for staff to use as they will be allocated a locker and a key to keep their personal belongings secure.The bespoke lockers were designed and manufactured at Helmsman. With all-glass revolving doors and vast glazing panels, the INTRAform DM entrance matting at 338 Euston Road appears to flow seamlessly from inside to out. Encompassing the angled and recessed doorway, the external matwell continues the line of the interior mat to square. This interesting combination of internal and external matting creates a highly practical design feature. Zonal entrance matting system Using INTRAform DM with differing inserts in the internal and external zones, the architect has created a two-stage zonal system. In zone 1 external, the matting is inset with multidirectional rubber which scrapes away excess dirt and moisture from footwear and wheels. With the entrance on the corner of the building, the flexible rubber fins ensure performance, whichever the direction of approach. In the primary mat, (zone 2, internal), the profiles are inset with highly absorbent INTRAlux Elite polyamide fibre. These inserts remove and retain any remaining dirt and moisture to ensure a safe and slip-free entrance. With the revolving door sheltered within the recess, the matting here is also inset with fibre. Made from 100% Econyl regenerated nylon fibre and capable of absorbing 5.4l/m2, INTRAlux Elite is both a practical and sustainable choice. Minimal design, maximum impact The INTRAlux Elite fibre in Grey 606 matches tonally with the multidirectional rubber. The oversized entrance matting panels lessen the use of diving t-bars. While the positioning of the t-bars has been carefully planned to align with the threshold. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service recently commissioned Norwich-based Cooks Industrial Doors to replace failing vehicle access doors at Long Melford Fire Station in rural Suffolk. The Little Kelham project is a housing development created by CITU Homes consisting of 153 1 – 4 bedroom homes and a variety of creative spaces, cafes and shops. The Port of Tyne is one of UK’s most efficient deep-sea ports, handling a diverse range of cargoes from cars to containers and bulk goods to renewable energy across five continents. They offer a unique end-to-end solution ensuring goods move safely, securely and efficientlyThe project4 Speedor Storms designed, manufactured and installed to mobile hoppersThe challenge:A key part of the port’s ship unloading procedure required fast and reliable doors to compliment their logistics process. Materials such as wood pellets are unloaded into hoppers which simultaneously load directly into lorries that drive into the hoppers. The process generates dust which must be controlled as a residential area is close by. These hoppers are in highly exposed areas and require a product that withstands strong winds.The Solution:The mobile hopper systems originally came with rigid doors that blew out as they were rated Class 3 and were not fit for purpose. We resolved the issue by installing robust Speedor Storms, the Speedor variant with exceptional wind resistance up to Class 5 (over 90 mph). Their automatic action and robust design ensured that the doors worked during all weather conditions ensuring the efficiency of the port is maintained.The success:The original project was to install 2 doors to the hopper systems. Due to the reliability of the first 2 doors, a further 2 Speedor Storms were installed a few years later. 

A new state-of-the-art business incubation building in Dorset has been completed with the use of an integrated package of Sto thermal insulation and external render and paint products. The company’s StoTherm Vario and StoTherm Classic insulation systems were specified for the new Innovation Studio at the Arts University Bournemouth, along with StoSilco exterior render and StoColor Dryonic façade paint.

Designed and Manufactured by Simplicity Timber Solutions this curved folding sliding door system was crafted for an opening of 9 linear meters. This was designed to enable a 10 door leaf system to be effortlessly opened, plus it folds and slides in the same direction. To seamlessly bring the room together, Accoya was also used for the 16 sided hex decagon lantern light ceiling feature. Dimensional stability is key for large joinery installations such as this.
