The client required a gravel driveway that could withstand the use of larger vehicles, in this case, most notably ambulance access. A DDA compliant surface had to be laid due to the client’s disability, teamed with an application that could combat the waterlogging that was being caused by excess water coming off the adjacent farmer’s field. Funded by the local council, the costs covered the materials as well as the cost of preparing the existing ground for the grid.

Having been identified as the preferred supplier, Artform offered a selection of site furniture elements which included Big Harris Benches, Word Bollards and Box Litter Bins. When Architects McAllen & Penfold were designing the new Brewer House Halls of Residence they wanted to ensure user friendly facilities to aid the students in every way possible. Easyflush is a WRAS approved, hygienic and simple-to-use product that employs an infra-red sensor to operate a dual-flush WC valve. The user needs only to pass his or her hands in front of the sensor for a part flush, or hold them in front for more than a second to obtain a full flush.

The Royal Shakespeare Company has renovated the Theatre as part of a £112.8m transformation project which saw the creation of a new 1040+ seat, a thrust stage auditorium which brings actors and audiences close together. The new theatre is also more accessible to people with disabilities and offers a more comfortable experience. The style of their washrooms needed to emulate the features adopted from years of fashion and trends reflected in the theatres' décor.

Created by Waterways Ireland, the development is aimed at attracting more people to enjoy the waterways. CBRE wanted to replace their existing automatic doors at the front and rear of their newly refurbished building with stylish doors which are safe, reliable and ensured effortless pedestrian flow. Two record K41 stainless steel four-leaf revolving doors constructed from glass to provide a modern, minimalistic look were installed. A stainless steel swing door complete with a record DFA 127 operator has also been installed next to revolving door at the main entrance to provide a wider opening for disabled access and deliveries of large, bulky items to the premises.

Sliding pocket doors are hugely beneficial when designing new or refurbished accommodation for people with disabilities where inclusive design is deemed important. More than 30 sliding pocket door systems and 11 Eclisse Hoist pocket door systems have been installed inside the new building. The Eclisse Hoist pocket door system has meant that a hoist lift can be between rooms to transport the young people from one area to another. Three ECLISSE Hoist pocket door systems have been installed in the physiotherapy area and a motorised lifting system in the pool area.

Franke were thrilled to provide products to one of the UK’s leading theme parks and attractions for a recent refurbishment, which consisted of a large male toilet room, a large female toilet room and a less abled disabled washroom. Water conservation was also an important aspect. Franke supplied a number of self closing Pureline taps, which only release water for a controlled amount of time, bringing down water usage in the washroom. Stainless steel table top soap dispensers (SD80) were also supplied, removing the possibility of spillages onto the vanity units and making the area easier to clean.

Pepenbury, a charity based in West Kent that provides care and support to people with learning disabilities, has chosen EnviroVent’s heatSava Single Room Heat Recovery Units to improve indoor air quality, reduce condensation and enhance energy efficiency. The charity approached EnviroVent to recommend an effective ventilation solution for its residential unit which supports 70 people and is based in Tunbridge Wells. Following a survey by a ventilation specialist, EnviroVent recommended that each bedroom was fitted with a heatSava 150 to provide constant ventilation and improve indoor air quality by maintaining relative humidity levels.

The design for Cally Pool’s refurbished changing rooms follows the highly successful ‘changing village’ format which is used in leisure centres and pool facilities across the UK. 23 Cubicles and 52 heavy duty lockers were installed throughout. This home was designed specifically for people living with complex physical disabilities and plus size patients. Our designers worked closely with the owners to design a flexible, thorough hoist systems that would deliver for patients throughout the building, no matter how much their needs vary.
