GEC Anderson’s stainless steel worktops, sinktops, doors and splashbacks have been chosen for the modern Café Bar at The Hepworth Wakefield art gallery in West Yorkshire, for their contemporary and accurate appearance as well as their hygienic qualities associated with food service. The stunning building is formed of ten different sized trapezoidal blocks constructed using pigmented, self-compacting concrete and recently listed in The Times ‘Top 50 Galleries in the World’. The continuous stainless steel worktop installed behind the main serving counter of the Café Bar incorporates sinks, plinth, cupboards doors and splashbacks, all in brushed satin stainless steel.

Bridgewood House Care Home is a 70 bed residential and nursing home in Enfield. MKM Building Supplies, the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchant and Martin Dixon Ltd, Building Services Specialists were contracted to provide bathroom solutions for the property.The challenge was to provide suitable washroom products for the care home before for the grand opening so quick delivery and installation were imperative. Gwenfro Community Primary School in Wrexham has undergone a £4.9 million makeover, replacing the existing 1950s school. Funded by the local authority and Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Education Programme, the new school amalgamates juniors and infants, and provides state of the art facilities for its pupils, as well as an energy efficient building, BREEAM rated ‘Excellent’.

Grade II listed hotel in the heart of the City of LondonHyatt Regency London Blackfriars is located in the historic Square Mile, directly outside Blackfriars station, and is a short stroll from St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. The Grade II-listed five-star hotel is steeped in regal history, residing on the former grounds of King Henry VIII's Bridewell Palace.195 rooms had wedi XPS shower tray formers (the wedi Fundo Riolito neo) featuring a linear drainage channel with continuous slope right to the channel and more flexible adjustment for tiling. Providing a complete abP-approved, CE marked and BBA accredited waterproof system, removing the need for labour intensive tanking because no further sealing is required.

No kitchen is ever complete without the sink and tap, and on a high-end project such as The Atelier in London, it was important that the sinks, just as every area of the design, were of the highest specification. Hopkins Architects, who worked on the project on behalf of house builder Regal-London, chose the Abode R15 stainless steel sink to achieve the brief. With the manufacturer’s Althia designer brassware being the perfect match, this sink and tap pairing were supplied for use across all of the 43 boutique apartments in West Kensington.

Drainers were included to one side and each unit has an integral upstand. Legs have adjustable feet to facilitate levelling.V55 Gypsum Separators are mounted below each sink to prevent blockage of the drainage system by solid waste associated with working in clay.All units were produced in EN 1.4301 grade brushed satin stainless steel.

Stainless steel worktops with integrated back and side upstands (edge 10) were specified in this smart residential apartment in the City of London.The hob run and sink run oppose one another in a galley arrangement. The front edges are plain (edge 7) and the sinks include a ‘wet zone’ provided by the fully integrated sink and a half with drainer.

Abode delivered a combined sink and tap offering to high-end house builder Berkeley Group, for its Edenbrook Village development in Hampshire. The challenge for Abode was to supply a complimentary sink and tap offering to work alongside the specified German contemporary kitchens from Leicht. Exceeding at the challenge, Abode took one of its stand-out designer taps, New Media in four finishes and coupled them with the extremely versatile R15 Matrix stainless steel one-and-a-half bowl sink, providing solutions that excelled in form and function.

The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, is one of the countries most valued heritage sites and contains many rare, unique and priceless artefacts.GEC Anderson stainless steel sinks and worktops were specified in a recent refurbishment of some of the Museum’s restoration and conservation rooms. Mica Architects included stainless steel worktops, sinks and tables from GEC Anderson’s Decimetric range. The Decimetric system offers a modular range of sizes (based on 100 millimetres = 1 decimetre) increments, providing cost effective solutions with a tremendous range of sizes and options. The range includes sinks, worktops and tables but also shelving, base cabinets, wall cabinets and tall cabinets.

Washroom created a unique washroom space using a mix of marble, brass and oak for this Grade II Listed refurbished office building. The brass effect accessories including wall-mounted taps, coat hooks, handles and cubicle locks, were paired with marble vanity splashbacks and oak veneer toilet cubicles. The bespoke Corian vanities were manufactured with rounded edge counter-top sinks and inset waste bins. Washroom's above sink Tego hinged mirror system, which includes concealed storage for soap and paper towel dispensers, also feature curved edges to reflect the sink shape and are backlit to provide soft lighting.

GEC Anderson stainless steel worktops with ultra-thin edge profile and integrated sink were included in this recent residential project in London.The sinktop is 4.8m long and was produced in one, continuous piece and includes sink A50. The opposing island also has the ultra-thin (15mm) edge but incorporates a breakfast bar.Worktops are in EN 1.4301 grade brushed satin stainless steel.

Stainless steel sinks, worktops cabinets and shelving to various station train-crew and control rooms, including a DDA compliant area featuring a special shallow sink.Working closely with the LUL design and specification, all units exclude flammable materials or materials that can smoulder under extreme temperatures. Having supplied many LUL locations in the past, this did not provide a difficulty for GEC Anderson.

GEC Anderson were chosen to supply stainless steel classroom worktops, drinking fountains as well as fabrications for the main school kitchen.Classroom worktops have integrated sink bowls and are mounted on wall hung stainless steel base cabinets, also by GEC Anderson. The cantilever arrangement allows for uninterrupted floor cleaning and easier working and access to the sink units. It also facilitates the ability to mount the worktops at the height appropriate for pupils. GB4000 wall hung drinking fountains were specified in the corridor areas. The units can be mounted at any height to ensure access for the children. Within the main kitchen, sinks and and worktops include leg frames with solid undershelves in order to maximise the limited space available.Brushed satin stainless steel (EN 1.4301 grade) was used throughout.

The fit-out of a new primary school building in North-West London has featured the installation of half a dozen different configuration of high quality stainless steel work-surfaces within its teaching, staff and family areas, specified for their durability and visual appeal as well as the creation of hygienic, easy to clean and maintain facilities.The Edith Neville Primary School in Camden has been built by Orpington based Neilcott Construction for the London Borough of Camden with Hayhurst and Co. Architects leading the design team. Project Architect, Jamie Wakefield, commented: “I had seen GEC sinks on another project and we specified them as part of a full Stage 4 design for the Edith Neville Primary School, which has been built for the London Borough of Camden. Schools inevitably get some very heavy usage, but with stainless steel it is easy to clean the surfaces up and get them looking smart again and they’ll still look good in ten years’ time. The different GEC fabrications feature throughout the new school as classroom art sinks, tea-point countertops and in spaces such as the family centre. There is also one in the staff kitchenette and a special studio space. We’re very pleased with how they look and they are working well for the school.”The many and varied units supplied by G. E. C. Deny’s Holland House, located in London’s Camden Road was the subject of a recent and total refurbishment by specialist contractor, ITC Concepts.Within the specification were stainless steel worktops to a total of 13 kitchens. Each kitchen is designated for shared use by student occupants of the various apartments. As such, the need for a durable, safe and hygienic facilities lead to the specification of seamless worktops with integrated sinks and anti-drip edge profiles. GEC Anderson were able to produce the prescribed configurations and detailing that were called for. Delivering where suppliers before them had been unable to, Abode is supplying the versatile R15 Matrix stainless steel sink, coupled with Pico and Althia brassware to Avant Homes developments until at least July 2021. With ongoing and planned developments on over 50 sites, all of which will feature design-led Abode kitchen solutions. An ideal solution for creating a high-end and minimal look, the design of the Matrix R15 stainless sink means it can be installed into any surface, including laminate, enabling the developer to create an undermount look without the expense of solid surface.

GEC Anderson stainless steel worktops were specified for ward kitchens within the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocinology and Metabolism (OCDEM). Part of the Radcliffe Department of Medicine, the OCDEM is a pioneering centre that combines clinical care, research and education.Sheppard Robson Architects, specified the L-shaped stainless steel units with hygiene, durability and practicality in mind. Continuous, integral upstands were included at the junction between worktops and walls. Sinks were fully integrated within the continuous stainless steel worksurfaces. The main sink bowls are set within a shallow recessed area, acting as a wet zone and to prevent spillage.

Design freedom and product flexibility was high on the architects agenda when specifying a mix stainless steel sink tops for the new education workshop and standalone sink pedestals for the artist studio at Watts Gallery, Compton, Surrey.The new education space and arts studio known as the Foyle Art for All Learning Studio is part of a restoration and remodelling scheme at Watts Gallery in Compton. The work has been part funded by Heritage Lottery Fund & English Heritage, the finished scheme provides an art studio and education space for around 15 people. The gallery runs workshops for the local community including life drawing, painting and pottery, and an art club for young people.WorkshopGEC Anderson supplied a mix of Made to Measure and Decimetric units. The Made to Measure range for the workshop area allowed the specifier to order to their exact size requirements. The customised sink tops arrived on site in two continuous pieces which incorporated a lower level top to comply with DDA requirements and suit the height of children working in the studio. These items incorporated a plaster trap and sand trap in order to segregate the paints/sands being used in class from the waste water.The Made-to-Measure units included a large bespoke sink bowl 1100 x 340mm in size. There were no joins at the sink bowl, edges or upstands and the 18mm bonded substrate provided rigidity and strength as well as allowing for easy fixing.Art StudioWatts Gallery has run the Artist-in-Residence scheme since 2005 and the new studio provides all the facilities required for the artist to work there in comfort. Here GEC Andersons Decimetric commercial stainless steel sinktop was chosen for the wash area. A highly sustainable Education & Visitor Centre is nearing completion alongside a historic landmark in a south London park, with the fit out including the installation of stainless steel sinks, work-surfaces and shelving units, supplied and installed by sector specialist, GEC Anderson. 

In theory, placing your hand dryer or towel dispenser in just the right location should be easy. In the simplest terms, it involves measuring the hand dryer height from the floor and planning the right hand dryer distance from the sink and other washroom features.
