The new Hilton Garden Inn Hotel enjoys a prime location with stunning views overlooking the Lancashire Cricket pitch at Emirates Old Trafford. To create the bright and welcoming entrance to the new hotel, Senior’s slimline SF52 aluminium curtain walling was used alongside our SPW600 aluminium casement windows and robust SPW501 aluminium commercial doors. The rooms at the rear of the hotel, which directly overlook the cricket ground, feature Senior’s patented, thermally-enhanced PURe® SLIDE aluminium sliding doors. These open onto individual balconies that can be also be used as private corporate boxes during events at the cricket ground.

The new Brookfield Business School 7-acre Campus brings together a sympathetically restored, 19th century mansion with a new three-storey three-gabled, copper clad extension and elliptical lecture theatre. Senior’s slim profile SF52 thermally enhanced curtain walling and SPW600 Windows were used throughout the extension to create a comfortable, light and airy environment. For the main entrances, Senior’s robust SPW501 Commercial Doors provide both security and longevity for these high traffic areas. This was a complex project which required precision, close co-operation between all sub-contractors and 3D BIM modelling to ensure co-ordination of all the elements involved.

The new build £75m project is part of the regeneration of the Temple Quarter enterprise zone in the city and includes a new office development at 3 Glass Wharf. The office building which will be occupied by HMRC, features a shimmering external envelope with an amalgamation of glazed units and rainscreen panels finished in a palette of champagne and sea foam green. The result is an external facade that creates a symmetry with both the surrounding buildings and its proximity to the riverside area. Metalline supplied and manufactured over 3000m2 of bespoke aluminium rainscreen panels which included large 4.0metre x 2.0metre panels featuring a 3D effect diagonal crease across each panel to enhance the light and shaded appearance of the façade. Each of these panels were finished and delivered in batch quantity to ensure continuity of colour. Working closely with Darling Associates and Glassolutions, Metalline produced a special bespoke support bracket to accommodate the 3D effect panels. These were pre-assembled in factory-controlled conditions to shorten installation time on site. Metalline also supplied a range of aluminium interlocking soffits in varying lengths and widths that create an eye-catching feature to each of the 8 storey balconies. Metalline has continued to invest in state-of-the-art machinery and has led the industry with having capacity to process material of up to 6.0metres, this includes a custom made 6.5metre vacuum bonding tent press, 6.0metre press brake and router beds. This investment has given Metalline the ability to offer solutions for designers and architects that previously were not available.

SAS International bespoke metalwork comprising of a striking waveform shaped ceiling was designed by architects Arup Associates to feature in the construction of Ropemaker Place, London EC2 for British Land. Specialist bespoke wave ceilings were installed in the atrium, main reception area, lift lobbies and main external canopy. The waveform panel, although elegant in appearance, had to have the required strength to support the light fitting. Place, is a state of the art commercial development with impressive sustainability credentials.

AATi supplied Tri contracting Services Ltd with their extremely hard-wearing; building reg. compliant cast metal anti-slip stair nosings to help with the station renovation. The preceding stair nosings were installed in the early 1990’s in Cast Iron.

A variety of products from Johnstone’s Trade’s Ecological Solutions range have played their part in ensuring a new £74 million state-of-the-art campus building for Kirklees College has received a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’.The team decorated the vast majority of the building’s interior with Johnstone’s Acrylic Durable Matt and Covaplus Vinyl Matt; two core products from the range. In addition, Johnstone’s Satin Finish was used for the interior wood and metalwork, while Johnstone’s Professional Undercoat and Gloss were used to protect the exterior steelwork.

Project: Design and manufacture of 2 reception desks and browser in GRC cast and sprayed concrete with brass finishes for ROMO GROUP. Materials used: Hand cast and sprayed GRFC concrete in Silk Mist finished with brass detailing. For Romo’s flagship store in London’s Chelsea Design Centre, the Living Concrete team were faced with the challenge of converting complicated geometrical designs into two precast reception desks and a browser. The single casts were made offsite, with each being over four meters long. They were treated and sealed to make them stain proof.

Armourcoat Sculptural creates seamless wall surfaces with impactful designs and cast relief. Each design is created from cast GRG (Glass-fibre Reinforced Gypsum) panels, CAD generated to enable a continuous pattern or unique decorative effect.Specified by Pernille Stafford of Resonate Interiors

With the reputation of the illustrious Tottenham football club preceding it, the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is an emblematic building that has already secured its place as a sports stadium to be remembered.It has also become one of the more renowned and iconic spaces to have benefitted from Alumasc WMS expertise, receiving the full ‘rain to drain’ treatment.Comprising five core brands and more besides, Alumasc WMS was brought into the project to provide cohesive, integrated water management throughout the project. This eventually included the installation of Gatic Slotdrain systems, Gatic Access Covers and AssistLift Covers, Harmer SML below ground Cast Iron drainage and Wade floor gulliesto ensure effective water management all round.Completed in 2019, the 62,303-capacity stadium is one of the largest in the Premier League and the largest club stadium in London. The state-of-the-art sports and leisure centre can stage major events including football games, NFL American football games and rugby, as well as concerts and other non-sporting events.Populous Architectural Design were the architects on the project, however, it was Buro Happold Engineering that specified Gatic Drainage and Access Covers, Harmer below ground cast iron drainage and Wade floor gullies from Alumasc WMS for the task.

160 linear metres of drainage solution have been installed in the area surrounding the Town Hall and its car park.As regards the grating, the slot drainage was selected, suitable for load class D400. The choice of this type of grating has provided an ideal solution for this cobbled area, as a discreet and aesthetically pleasing option, without relinquishing drainage capacity. In total, 160 linear metres of drainage have been installed.

Fern House Extra Care, built on the site of the former Bingley Hospital in West Yorkshire was designed to complement the existing streetscape and provide a wonderful living environment. The 49 extra care apartments, plus 30 residential bedrooms to support people living with dementia feature Senior’s timber and aluminium composite Hybrid range, to give the scheme a domestic and homely feel. The development also benefits from Senior’s thermally efficient SF52 aluminium curtain wall and SPW 600 windows to help reduce heating costs and maintain a pleasant ambient temperature for residents.

StoSilent Direct was specified for its outstanding acoustic performance, ease of installation and attractive aesthetic appearance.

Watling Place, situated in South Kilburn in London, contains 152 apartments. The project is part of upgrading work being carried out in the London Borough of Brent.The DucoSlide sliding panels consist of aluminium frames holding wooden or aluminium louvre blades. Thanks to the wide selection of louvre blades, the architect or client always has a large choice that will seamlessly fit any project. The architect opted for DucoSlide Wood wooden louvre blades. These louvre blades lend the façade a warm appearance and are an effective solution for regulating solar heat and the privacy of the residents.

BRENT CROSS SUBSTATIONIf there was ever an image to uphold our notion that Downer rainscreen framing isn’t ‘just metal’, it’s this one.Brent Cross Town, which is being delivered by Related Argent and Barnet Council – has recently unveiled this powerful and vibrant piece of art. One of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe, Brent Cross Town has ‘wrapped’ this eye-catching substation in a 21-metre-high permanent public artwork – all of which sits on our robust, sustainably-friendly Downer HELPING HAND framing.Here we come, here we rise’, created by celebrated artist Lakwena in collaboration with architects IF_DO, consists of four undulating bands and triangular-shaped lenticular panels that create a kaleidoscopic visual effect to emphasise the idea of movement as viewers move around the structure. IF_DOThe project has also brought back to life a piece of brownfield, ex-industrial land with the creation of a newly landscaped embankment designed by Gillespies.Brent Cross Town is the neighbourhood at the heart of the Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration programme. ASF were approached by Bradford Metropolitan Borough Council to manufacture railings to design drawings that they had completed. Firstly the drawings required turning form design drawings into working documents, so ASF produced a full set of cut drawings and GA's as well 3D models for approval purposes. The panels were individually hand made and hand polished and fitted to site by a third party (also identified by ASF). Polishing was carried out to 2k standards which dramatically decreases the risk of discoloration. The outcome is a great looking but extremely robust and long lasting, design led utilitarian railing for a busy city centre area

An impressive version pedestrian guardrail using the machine topped ASF 5008 bollard as posts, and solid bar stainless steel vertical infill panels to create the guardrail. This system is made to order, and as such can be set up to host any combination of post and panel or hand railing. Contrasting polish finish can be used on the bollards to show the machined top as more of a feature. Posts can be reinforced to make them ram raid resistant.

ASF 650 Trough Bollards were chosen for the service entrance / players entrance of Anfield Football Ground. As there would be coaches and HGV access to that part of the ground the 'Boston' version of the ASF 650 was chosen, which offers a lid that is rated to H20 (US) loading standards. The ASF 5002 stainless steel bollard was chosen to be housed in the trough

This development consists of two spectacular residential houses. The natural touch is enhanced by the use of Trespa® Meteon® NM07 Casted Grey, which is part of our Naturals collection. The developer was the first to use Casted Grey in the UK. They are always looking for new finishes to give a unique look to their developments.

Two ranges of Furnitubes’ products have been selected for the deck area at HereEast, London business space and headquarters for BT Sport. The RailRoad range of seating and integrated planters is employed where the furniture can be placed on a more or less permanent basis and Ribbon XL seating modules are used where they need to be moved more regularly. The unusual Ribbon XL kissing seat, with two backrests facing opposite directions, and the two-person high-back recliner are the initial products used. Steelwork was finished in a dark grey PPC to match the metalwork on the Broadcast Centre.

As part of a £14 million redevelopment of Bolton’s Market Place Shopping Centre, the extensive historic vaults that lay beneath were uncovered and developed into bar and restaurant units. Bolton Gate were engaged to design, manufacture and install nine collapsible steel gates which spanned the openings some of which were arched and in keeping with the surrounding metalwork, a clear powder coating was applied over the galvanised substrate to match. In addition to the vault gates, Bolton Gate also supplied a series of roller shutters, smoke and fire curtains in the upper development of the project.

SANDTEX TRADE scaled new heights to revamp a Central London office block – without a ladder in sight. 20 Farringdon Road has been transformed into a contemporary workplace in the heart of the city following a stylish refurbishment project undertaken by specialist abseiling contractors Rubynest. Their specialist ‘working at height’ team worked from temporary cradles to apply the Sandtex Trade trims system to metalwork on the building’s windows. Sandtex Trade Rust Inhibiting Primer Undercoat, Flexible Primer Undercoat and Eggshell X-Tra were used to create the on-trend black finish.

When Mersey Care upgraded their existing leaf-and-a half bedroom door arrangements, they wanted to improve the anti-barricade access and robustness of their doors – while still having a clear opening width of 1000mm. They found the leaf-and-a-half arrangement wasn’t ideal – with a bulky meeting stile and additional exposed metalwork. To address this, we proposed an extra-wide single leaf Symphony doorset. Aided by market-leading fire evidence, the leaf is 1100mm providing a clear opening of 1050mm – more than enough space for a service user and two members of staff.

AATi worked closely with London Underground engineers to design a fully cladded stair system that was, hardwearing, compact and easily to install. AATi supplied Nickel Bronze SN93/SL3/280 standard cast metal Antislip stair nosings along with a 300mm deep version of the SN93/SL3/280 and riser plates also in cast nickel bronze.

Goat Yard, formerly a Victorian Warehouse building named Albion House, underwent comprehensive refurbishment to offer grade A office accommodation, totalling 30,484 sq ft. Refurbished by West 1, a leading high-end office fit-out Contractors, the building boasts a newly reconfigured reception area. The Living Concrete team were commissioned to cast and install a custom-build concrete reception desk.Spanning 3m long, the single cast was made offsite, without any joints and finished in Mist Pitted finish to resemble a real, cast in-situ concrete. Laminated grey joinery and black Forbo rubber-lined worktop completed the look.

OverviewThe Mayson, a new boutique hotel in Dublin’s regenerated Docklands, consists of two protected buildings on the city’s North Wall Quay – a traditional dockers’ pub and a 19th century timber warehouse. Features include Ryleigh’s rooftop restaurant, and a boutique barber shop set in a traditional pub, The Bottle Boy.Project criteriaA critical aspect of the design was to restore and knit the two buildings together in a way that preserved their industrial character. The hotel is a landmark feature in the Dockland area, sitting on North Wall Quay overlooking the River Liffey, a testing marine environment for architectural metalwork, making their protection paramount. A Corten-like finish had been suggested for the exterior metal fins, to look like rusted steel, but the designers wanted to avoid run-off from storm water drainage staining surrounding structures.The SolutionPowdertech Evolution™ finishes emulate metal patination but with no run-off and staining. A range of ‘rusted’ ‘Corten’ finishes is included in the Evolution range, all of which conform to ISO 12206 and Qualicoat specifications.The client chose one of the brightest – ‘Sahara’. As the images show, the colour changes depending on the light, and looks particularly stunning in full sunlight, complementing the red brick of the former dockers’ pub. Powdertech coated 2,100 linear metres of box-section aluminium to form one hundred and fifty vertical fins of 14m in length extending on the upper storey of the building. A marine-grade epoxy polyester primer was applied after a high etch-rate pre-treatment and before the Sahara coating in order to ensure excellent protection. Armourcoat’s latest decorative surface finishes have been used to stunning effect in the recently renovated Matilda Bay Restaurant in Perth, WA.Situated right on the banks of the picturesque Swan River, with sweeping views of the city skyline, the Matilda Bay Restaurant offers fresh, local produce and modern Australian and seafood dishes with a creative twist. The restaurant and function centre have also become known as a showcase for local timber, stone and artisan craft.The vibrant new interior, created by Karlee Boucher of KADA interior design, is fresh and contemporary. Welcoming diners into the restaurant, an Armourcoat Sculptural feature wall in a ‘Flow wave’ design creates a dramatic and original design statement. The ‘wave’ design is continued with a longer wall into the dining space. Sculptural seamless contoured wall surfaces offer impactful designs with cast relief. Each signature design is created from cast GRG (Glass-fibre Reinforced Gypsum) panels, CAD generated to enable a continuous pattern or unique decorative effect.Throughout the restaurant, the use of ArmourColor Perlata architectural coatings provides a sophisticated shimmer effect and subtle backdrop to the architectural detailing. Columns within the ground floor Catalina Room have also been decorated with textured plaster in a ‘Travertine’ finish. Hand-applied by artisan craftsmen from The Polished Plaster Company, the finish creates a light open texture and gives the appearance of natural travertine stone. The Polished Plaster Company is the appointed agent and applicator of Armourcoat finishes in Western Australia. Nigel Goldsmith, Managing Director commented, “The specification of these modern decorative finishes; echo the local crafts, with their ancient roots and skilled application. The new Sculptural finish is also right on trend, tapping into current designs using 3D forms”. The Polished Plaster Company is pleased to present their Armourcoat showroom in nearby O’Connor, which can be viewed by appointment. Multi V+ drainage channels have been installed in the outside area of the Jaguar car dealership.These channels with V-shape section, provide a higher speed with lower flows, and have been developed to drain water faster, improving the self-cleaning effect of the channel. Its optimized cross section, larger than the traditional V-sections currently available on the market, provides bigger hydraulic capacity for extreme flow situations.

Let’s go to the house of the Rangers, in Glasgow, the Ibrox Football Stadium, so I can show it to you.Here, CIVIL F system channels have been installed, but not to drain water, but to conduct the wiring of the facilities from the outside to the inside of the stadium.So instead of installing a slotted or mesh design for the grating, these are solid, with no inlets. The fact that the gratings are solid avoids water from getting inside the channel. This protects the wires and keeps them dry.These channels with solid cover can have a Rapidlock quick lock, a system that allows you to open and close the cover in one click, without the need of tools.Simple, easy and quick, like dissolving cocoa in milk.

The new purpose-built Health & Allied Professions (HAP) Centre forms part of Nottingham Trent University’s vibrant Clifton Campus and features an array of innovative resources and amenities, including mock hospital wards, specialist equipment and creative teaching spaces, to assist students in their study of nursing, paramedicine and healthcare.The impressive building has been designed by architects Pick Everard and incorporates a number of sustainable features to achieve an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating. Senior’s fenestration systems, which offer cradle-to-cradle recyclability, were the ideal choice and the building’s striking main façade features both Senior’s thermally-enhanced SF52 aluminium curtain wall system and integrated SPW600 aluminium windows. Senior’s products were fabricated and installed by supply chain partner Logic Aluminium Systems for main contractor Henry Brothers Ltd.As well as a creating a welcoming gateway to the University’s Clifton Campus, the new two-storey building has been designed to provide both visual interest and maximise the use of daylighting. The use of Senior’s slimline SF52 aluminium curtain wall systems floods the main atrium with natural light and provides each of the rooms with extensive views of the campus and surrounding areas. Ventilation is provided by Senior’s robust SPW600 aluminium windows which have been seamlessly incorporated into the curtain wall.The interior features of the new HAP Centre are just as impressive, with flexible teaching and study areas interspersed with state-of-the-art facilities including a virtual reality wall, which enables students to practice emergency medical responses in ‘real life’ settings, and mock hospital wards and domestic flat settings which feature robotically controlled mannequins that allow a range of patient symptoms, illnesses, and scenarios to be simulated and studied.

ASF were approached to supply the ASF 3001 Tree Grille and Tree Guard Combination in stainless steel, alongside a range of other stainless steel street furniture products. The grilles were manufactured in grade 316 stainless steel and supplied with a brush polished finish which offers that classic stainless steel sheen whilst being a robust enough finish to minimise marking up and discoloration.
