Kawneer’s energy-efficient, and aesthetically pleasing products ensured that the performance of Northgate matches its striking appearance. A use of terracotta on the project subtly references at Chester’s Roman past.

Polytan UK in cooperation with Hunts Contractors Ltd, Playdeck UK Ltd and Premier Line Markings Ltd have successfully completed the new 2020 Track Refurbishment of the Manchester Regional Arena Outdoor Athletics Track at The Etihad Campus. The original track built in 2001 using Polytan M system now sports a very impressive new Dark Blue Polytan Rekortan M sandwich system.The athletics and events track are built to meet and hold High Level Competitions, including Diamond League Events, World Athletics Certification Level 1 and UKA. To meet the highest quality certification under very testing circumstances is testament of the quality to all involved in both workmanship and materials and commitment to achieve.

JUTA UK is leading the way with the new Facebook Data Centre in Ireland. As the first geosynthetic on site, JUTA Gas Protection geomembranes are being utilised to protect the building, and the future workers from Ground Gas emissions such as Methane, Carbon Dioxide and Radon. Following many months of working together in partnership with Baridek Services Ltd (Installer), JUTA UK Gas Protection membranes were selected to provide the foundation for future proofing the development. The Facebook project is split over two phases, Phase one will deliver two buildings with a gross floor area of 50,800 square meters.

Earlier this year Troax UK Ltd. were approached by Swisslog and their client TJ Morris, who trade throughout the UK as Home Bargains to assist them in the implementation of a large scale automated Warehousing System in a new distribution centre at Amesbury. The materials handling equipment installation, Swisslog’s largest in the UK this year, included pallet and light goods systems (incorporating racking, cranes and conveyors), EMS monorail system, and Swisslog’s innovative CaddyPick semi-automatic case order-picking system, the first of its type in the UK.

The British Museum opened its doors in 1759. Now home to some 8 million works from a number of different cultures, the museum stands as an iconic London attraction. The Museum made the decision in November 2013 to replace the restaurant’s old flooring, as it could no longer handle the vast number of visitors. W B Simpson Ltd, was the chosen tiling contractor to complete the new installation. Marc Poland, Director at W B Simpson Ltd said “The architect consulting on this project specified we use ARDEX UK’s products. Glasgow’s latest redevelopment project, located on Langside Road, is built upon the former site of the city’s Victoria Infirmary and consists of a large housing development that includes 413 flats, offices and retail space. The 3.75 hectare site, which is situated next to Queen’s Park on the south side of the city, forms an important part of the Battlefield area’s character, with the buildings’ exterior reflecting and complementing the surrounding heritage by using the city's traditional blonde coloured sandstone.  As part of the construction process, Bilco UK was commissioned to supply six ESW-50REM Smoke Vents, in addition to seven E-50TB Roof Access Hatches, to provide the highest standards of safety and efficiency, whilst being sympathetic to the project’s overall design.  Installed onto the roof areas of four blocks of flats by Scottish contractors, Procladd Small Works Ltd, Bilco UK’s ESW-50REM Smoke Vents were specified to provide essential ventilation in the event of a building fire. Featuring a linear actuator operating mechanism that opens the cover to 140 degrees within 60 seconds, the smoke vents ensure compliance with Building Regulations Approved Document B, BS9999 and EN12101-2.  The built-in wind deflector also provides protection against smoke being blown back into the vent in the event of a fire., whilst the newly-designed closed-cell EPDM sponge gasket helps meet Building Regulation air leakage targets by providing a better seal of the cover to the curb. With the addition of a fixed vertical ladder, the smoke vents can also be used by maintenance engineers for roof access.  Billy Baillie, Managing Director at Procladd Small Works Ltd, said: “We have a longstanding relationship of over 20 years with Bilco UK, and will continue to do so over the forthcoming years, due to their impressive product quality and outstanding service. Bilco UK has supplied an innovative replacement roof hatch for a medieval church in Norfolk. St Mary’s is one of the 653 churches within the Diocese of Norwich. When it came to providing a means of safe access to the roof area a product was required that was both technically and architecturally suitable. Medieval Masonry Ltd, a specialist contractor in the restoration and conservation of historic buildings with over 50 years of experience in the industry, installed Bilco UK’s S-50VMTB VersaMount® Replacement Roof Hatch.

The Anchorage Gateway in Salford Quays is a new multi-storey building in the centre of Salford. The main wing is 29 storeys high whilst the lower tower tops out at 19 storeys. The ground floor contains almost 400m2 of commercial space and the upper floors contain 290 residential units and 800m2 of amenity space.The building is reputed to be one of the highest brick clad buildings in Europe, Kinlan Brickwork being specialist sub-contractor.Domis Construction is the main contractor on this scheme. URSA UK Ltd was chosen as the preferred insulation manufacturer. Fifty5ive Queen Street, Salford is a new 18 storey, 220-unit residential building in the centre of Salford for local developer Salboy.It includes modern, high-quality 1-, 2- & 3-bedroom apartments and duplexes, amenities include private resident workspace, gymnasium, yoga studios, resident cinema room and a terrace garden. Domis Construction is the preferred construction partner for Salboy on this scheme. In early 2022 they approached Encon Insulation in Chorley looking for a more readily available alternative to the stone wool product already specified. URSA UK Ltd was chosen to fill the void and keep the scheme on track. A&L Tiling Ltd are based in Caerphilly and offer a professional tiling service, which includes mosaics, bathrooms and kitchens. They are also members and award winners of The Tile Association. They were asked by their client to provide a splash back for a new kitchen renovation. 

As part of the broader regeneration plan in the northwest of Birmingham, Plot 6 at the Perry Barr Residential Scheme, is one of the largest developments.Providing 268 residential apartments, the eight-storey, mixed-use building also has a large courtyard garden, rooftop gardens and parking facilities for its residents. The living space has been created by blending modern architecture with traditional values.To achieve their vision, Glancy Nicholls Architects specified a range of Kawneer’s market-leading, architectural aluminium glazing systems for the residential scheme.The AA®100 Curtain Wall System, AA®720 Casement Windows and AA®720 Balcony Doors were used throughout the project and were chosen for their design flexibility and thermal performance. Selfridges is one the UK’s most famous high-end department stores founded in 1908. It’s Grade II listed flagship store is located on London’s Oxford Street. Buzon UK were commissioned to supply and install over 200sqm of the Buzon ALUrail and pedestal system to the newly renovated roof terrace area. The ALUrail installation system offers a complete structure for the raised installation of outdoor spaces. The system can be used for various substrates, 20mm porcelain, concrete and natural stone pavers. Practical and functional, the ALUrail system can be used where the void is limited.

Buzon UK were commissioned alongside The Outdoor Deck Company to refurbish the external terraces of several top floor apartments located on Nile Street, moments from Old Street, London. The brand new GRAD invisible fixing clip system was supplied and installed by the Outdoor Deck Company, their first ever GRAD installation in the UK. Buzon UK supplied and installed PB pedestals, which were placed under each rail to support the GRAD ThermoAsh deck boards. The GRAD system can either be fitted onto conventional timber joists, or mounted onto the bespoke support rail system.

GRP Rail Station Platform - Mountbridge Install | Case StudyThe Island Line and its associated infrastructure on the Isle of Wight in the UK has recently been upgraded to offer a more frequent service and introduce a refurbished fleet of Class 484 trains. Key to the project was creating improved accessibility between the train and the station platform to allow the new trains to operate effectively. This was achieved by deploying GRP Dura Platform panels from Dura Composites in conjunction with the Mountbridge™ system from Hammond ecs ltd to raise the platform gauge by up to 400mm at 5 stations on the Island Line, including Ryde Pier Head.The patented 40mm Dura Platform solution (Patent No GB 2 523 381) has a span of 1.5m per 5kN/m2 UDL and delivers multiple benefits in terms of faster, safer and easier installation, reducing time on site, therefore reducing disruption to passengers, and providing major cost savings versus traditional materials such as concrete. The platform panels can accommodate fully integrated tactile recesses, illumination of the coper and integrated heating to remove frost & ice build up and reduce the future maintenance burden of the platforms.

The design and installation of the Schüco FWS 60 façade required complex setting out and fabrication due to the geometry associated with the façade and the feature diagrid running on the diagonal. The Catalyst became the first commercial office building in the North East to be awarded the certification of “Outstanding” by BREEAM, a rating only the top 1% of new UK non-domestic buildings.
