When London Green Developments wanted the latest trend in facade cladding for a new development of town houses in Essex, they didn’t look much further than Hardie® Plank cladding to provide a durable and visually impactful finish. Being that ‘The Beach Houses’ were situated at a popular beachfront location, a selection of colourful cladding finishes were chosen to complement the seaside location and the unique style of the development. Hardie® Plank cladding not only met the aesthetic criteria but as the houses are in close proximity to the sea, it will also provide excellent protection from the harsh elements.’

The extensive refurbishment of The Mill House in Wiltshire, has been successfully achieved through using Johnstone’s Trade Professional range. Mouland’s extensive scope of work included the use of Johnstone’s Covaplus Vinyl Matt to give the interior walls and ceiling a wipeable finish. Part of Johnstone’s Ecological Solutions range with minimal VOCs, Johnstone’s Covaplus has the added benefit of lessening its impact on the environment. In addition, Johnstone’s Eggshell, which is specially formulated for interior use on wood and metal surfaces, was used to provide a smooth and washable condensation-resistant finish.

Project: Design and manufacture of 2 reception desks and browser in GRC cast and sprayed concrete with brass finishes for ROMO GROUP. Materials used: Hand cast and sprayed GRFC concrete in Silk Mist finished with brass detailing. For Romo’s flagship store in London’s Chelsea Design Centre, the Living Concrete team were faced with the challenge of converting complicated geometrical designs into two precast reception desks and a browser. The single casts were made offsite, with each being over four meters long. They were treated and sealed to make them stain proof.

Dual finish wooden windows and doors were used in the renovation of this delightful 1900’s Arts and Crafts style property. The family chose from the Lomax + Wood made-to-order range of timber flush casements and doors. 42 Double glazed fully weather-stripped flush casement windows, French doors and entrance doors. Neaco’s glass balustrade and aluminium grille systems are once again proving their value in contemporary design schemes following a specification at Fawcetts Yard, a development of luxury homes in Harrogate. Designed by Bramhall Blenkharn and built by HACS Construction, the select development comprises four stylish three-storey homes alongside a workshop/studio. The balconies on each home feature Neaco’s Techdek decking as well as their Elan semi-structural balustrade system with aluminium stanchions and handrails in a grey powder coated finish. The result is an attractively minimalist aesthetic in keeping with the development’s modern design and finish.

Loft ladders do not come any bolder than this stunning Elite concertina loft ladder from Premier Loft Ladders. It has been finished in 'Sulphur Yellow' powder coat. Two identical ladders were ordered by US steel fabrication and installation specialists Alloy Construction Service. For safety purposes, the loft ladders needed a bright yellow powder coat finish and had to be fitted with two telescopic handrails. A straightforward hardwearing concrete seal was required at the entrance which would withstand heavy footfall and provide a safe finish. Resuseal WB Clear is a water-based epoxy applied at around 40 microns per coat. This is formulated to penetrate and case harden a concrete surface giving it a much harder wearing surface which is less likely to crumble or degrade. As a clear coat the finish is a semi industrial type look which is often used in retail outlets and commercial buildings. This product is used throughout industry where the principal requirement is to dustproof a surface.

Riverlight is the first building to be completed in the Nine Elms area of Battersea by the power station site. Comprising 813 apartments across six glass towers, the project commands an enviable location on the side of the Thames. Seeking high quality flooring for this development, St James chose The Solid Wood Flooring Company to supply Oak and Walnut. With a growing reputation for high dimensional quality and a high standard of durable finish, The Solid Wood Flooring Company manufactured two new products to add to their range of FSC certificated flooring and these complemented the overall finished apartments.

The MicroSlat System was specified in three areas of this premium development, each space requiring very unique shapes. Bespoke spacing was required in order to accommodate LED strips between the grooves. The client ordered MicroSlat 25-18 that was spray finished to a high quality sheen using a bespoke lacquer finish to match other materials at the site. Black slat core and black acoustic backing complete the look to help transform the interior. MicroSlat was specified as it's a lightweight, modular system that's easy to install, which provides excellent acoustic absorption for a space with such high ceilings.

We worked closely with Brown and Carroll, The Architects Make and Lend Lease the main contractor to create a competitively priced high-quality floor. There are two palette colours a “Latte” light board and an “Expresso” dark board. These were prime oak, fumed and then finished with a colour oil for maintenance and repair to create a uniform natural floor. We are supplying a 190mm wide board and a 260mm wide board in a very select clean grade 20mm thick engineered flooring. We also altered the tannins in the top layer to create a unique brushed finish.

Vtec’s MAXIBEAM is specified in the renovation designs of this popular hotel chain, across many sites in the UK and Europe. This recent installation project features MAXIBEAM in a Warm Oak Supalami finish. Ceiling rafts and vertical beams combine to create a fantastic flow throughout the space whilst maintaining effective zoning. The project showcases shaped ceiling rafts and different suspension methods within a very technical design. The design involved hundreds of bespoke, angled ends - all individually cut to size and factory-finished to fit around central supports and existing features and fixtures.

Architect: Adam Knibb Architects. Renovating and remodelling this 1950s farm workers cottage in rural Hampshire was the task for Adam Knibb Architects and their challenge was more than just the design, they had a series of very restrictive planning restraints to deal with because of the countryside location. The finished project is a testament to innovative design and thinking. The ground floor is now almost completely open-plan, finished off with a large 11m wide, 5-panel set of IDSystems supplied and installed Grand Slider II doors that offer a stunning view over the garden and the woodlands beyond.

THE PROJECTThe mailboxes used in The Court House, London were manufactured by The Safety Letterbox Company Ltd. and were developed to meet the strict guidelines set out by the project architects based around the design style and dimensional characteristics of the products.Each individual mailbox is engraved with unique numbering identification and infilled with long-lasting gold colouring. The gold infilled engraving matches well with the bespoke brass lock to give the product a high quality finish.Other high quality mailbox lock finishes are available such as matt black, antique brass and polished chrome.

Due to the increased popularity of outside living space, this property in Northwest London has maximised this opportunity to increase their privacy from one neighbour with an unusually shaped extension providing the freedom of opening up the entire area. To try and keep in with the local surroundings they wanted to use copper for their cladding that would complement their design. Natural copper can take a long time to weather to a green finish. Metal Solutions offered Aurubis Nordic Green which is a pre-patinated copper where they can benefit from the aged finish from the day it was installed.

There was no brief other than something exceptional. This project is one that has been designed by the home owner and has been executed with so many different details that this traditional malleable aluminium allows. The Traditional Textures aluminium range of finishes have all been used with tapered panels, curved panels, hidden gutters and a variety of different width panels. The owners wanted to add some lighting to the roof top terrace/barbecue area. They searched for a long time to find appropriate lighting but could not find anything suitable until they found Vision skirting. To enhance the Barbecue area the owners chose the MultiFix system. This allowed them to light exactly where it was needed. RezTred was installed for its long lasting anti-slip properties and to highlight the edge of each step, therefore, virtually eliminating the risk of a fall on the staircase.

LAMILUX designed, supplied and installed seven uniquely shaped glass rooflights to create an aesthetic pleasing solution for the overlooked roof. The high quality requirements of the STEM building at the university meant that high performance solar control glass was used. Why LAMILUX were chosen ? Low Ug-value of 0.29 W/m²k was specified ? Each glass field within each rooflight was required to be a slightly different size and shape to create the unusual design

Building contractor Eversley Building Services Ltd required a roof access ladder for emergency use in the event of a fire. However, the application constraints presented many challenges, in particular the small skylight aperture. As such, a particularly compact loft ladder was needed. Furthermore, because the loft ladder would be used during an emergency, it had to be easy-to-operate and safe for its occupants. A survey of architects and housebuilders commissioned by Renderplas, the PVC render beading manufacturer, provides an interesting insight into attitudes to sustainable building products in the face of increasing environmental obligations for the construction industry. A long-awaited motorway service area on one of the countries busiest junctions - north of Rugby, at Junction 1 of the M6 - opened at the end of April 2021, bringing confidence to hauliers and logistics companies to make the switch to electric vehicles with provision of 24 ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging points.Around 3,500m2 of Tata Steel’s RoofDek D159 structural decking was used to form the support structure for the standing seam roof of the service areas main amenity building.

Due to the curved design of the new Everton Stadium structure, the contractors (Laing O’Rourke) were looking for M&E supports that could sit on the curved surfaces and still support the M&E installation correctly. Walraven were invited on site to discuss the Walraven Yeti solution, which is an all-in-one adjustable support foot for pitched roofs / curved surfaces. The Walraven Yeti foot was specified due to its ease of installation, adjustability and sustainable credentials.

As part of a £40 million re-development of an existing shopping centre in Farnborough, a new Sainsbury’s was to be the anchor store. The development was designed as a mixed use site and after a review of the store it was identified that project contractors, RG Group, would need to prevent the impact/structure-borne noise from travelling from the store and into the residential apartments situated above.RG Group, were required to install Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17) in order to provide high performance as well as ease of use, necessary in meeting the tight deadlines of the project.The SolutionAcoustic consultants, 24 Acoustics, specified Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17) to ‘float’ the entire shop floor. Quick and easy to install, RG Group was able to cover an area of 4,000m2 efficiently against tight timescales.Manufactured from recycled tyre crumb and resistant to ageing and deformation, Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17) has a maximum load bearing capacity of 50kN/m2 and performs well, even under high point loads. This was a specific consideration for Sainsbury’s as various point loads, such as plant rooms, would be apparent in the final fit-out of the store.Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17) has also been proven to retain its performance characteristics for a long and maintenance free lifespan. A sustainable specification, Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17) offers zero GWP (Global Warming Potential) and zero ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential). Moreover, in addition to being manufactured from recycled materials, it is also completely recyclable.The ResultMeeting the tight deadline imposed on the project was facilitated by the efficient and on-time deliveries of material to site and the quick and easy installation of Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17). With an impact sound insulation of 43dB and airborne sound insulation of 65dB, Regupol® 6010BA (REGUPOL sonus curve 17) achieved Sainsbury’s performance specifications and minimised sound transfer from the store.Louis Vandermerwe, RG Group, commented: “We were extremely impressed with the turnaround times from CMS Acoustics. We are once again delighted to be involved within this vibrant new and exciting site.THE PRODUCTThe London City Island development is split over a number of differences phases and blocks, with each development having a slightly different requirement and specification for mailboxes. A number of different mailbox models were used on the project, to match the different design finishes of each phase of the development.Our horizontal fire rated 2 mailboxes were used on two phases where there was a specific requirement for a post box to meet a Class 0 Part 22 1 hour integrity only fire rating. The first bank of mailboxes are wall recessed and fitted with a surrounding trim to provide the mailboxes with a clean finish from the mailbox to the installation wall. This bank of mailboxes were assembled into a configuration of 9 high x 9 wide prior to despatch, allowing easy installation once on site. The mailboxes have been finished in a non-standard colour (D2525-Y2217 matt) and engraved on the inward-sprung flap with an apartment number in a contrasting jet black colour.The second bank of fire rated 2 mailboxes also conformed to Part 22 fire rating standards. This bank was configured into a bank of 4 high x 6 wide mailboxes, finished in a standard colour chosen from the RAL colour chart and engraved in a contrasting white engraving on the inward-sprung flap.The third bank of mailboxes is located in a dedicated mailroom, wall recessed to maximise room for residents and mail delivery personnel to use the mailboxes. As is common practice with all wall recessed mailboxes, these banks of post boxes have also been fitted with a surrounding trim, ensuring the highest finish quality is achieved on the development.Also used on the project were the MODA mailboxes in the horizontal orientation with a width of 260mm. The MODA mailbox is popular with clients requiring a versatile and attractive product particularly useful for multi-coloured and multi-sized arrangements. This phase of the London City Island development shows how the MODA mailbox can be used in a more straightforward manner with a classic bank of wall recessed mailboxes finish in a single colour. Each mailbox has been engraving on the opening flap, infilled in a contrasting silver colour finish.All mailboxes on this development are in front / out front, allowing for mail to delivered and retrieved through the front face.
