Holland had to mount its largest-ever security operation when it hosted the third Nuclear Security Summit at the World Forum in The Hague in March 2014, with 13,000 police officers, 3,000 soldiers and 4,000 military police mobilized during the summit.Organisers had to guarantee the security of the world leaders from 53 countries, including event sponsor US President Barack Obama, and up to 3,000 journalists without unduly disrupting the day-to-day lives and business of local Dutch citizens.The SolutionDutch police turned to a British high-security fencing systems manufacturer with a growing international reputation as the go-to company when world leaders gather and the hosts need to guarantee their protection.Zaun installed 30km of fencing to secure the London 2012 Olympics including VIP emergency gates at the Olympic Stadium which were dubbed the Obama Gates.Last year it provided the same service for the G8 Summit in Northern Ireland and the influential meeting of global leaders and the world’s commercial, political and financial powers at the Bilderberg conference at The Grove in Watford.Zaun worked with long-term partners Hardstaff Barriers and Highway Care to design, manufacture, install and decommission the temporary high-security cordon around the summit, which included 13 gates and almost 3km of fencing, much of it designed to mitigate the attack by hostile vehicles or protesting mobs of people.Debates within the security cordon – 1.8km of SecureGuard and 1.1km of its RDS Rapid Deployable System – focused on how to lock up the world’s nuclear materials more securely so they would not be so easy for terrorists to steal: a field again where Zaun has helped in securing the nuclear industry.

Bespoke Bow Top fencing provides demarcation for church in East Iceland

We supplied 180 metres of 1.2m high bespoke Bow Top fencing with extended base plate posts to allow it to be stepped around the perimeter. The panels also had additional pales to provide extra strength. We also supplied a pair of 3.1m wide manual Bow Top gates matching the height of the fence, to provide a safe and welcoming entrance to the church grounds.

A DeltaWing-90V louvred fence was specified for the Holy Trinity Primary School in Dalston, Hackney. The panels were manufactured with louvres on a vertical axis to create a semi-transparent screen. This increased the sense of space within the playground area while providing an appropriate level of security and privacy for young pupils.The fencing was supplied in various heights to suit the openings within a brick wall and the varied palette included timber infill panels to the gates.

When a new mental health unit planned to provide a safe and secure environment for their patients and staff, CLD Fencing Systems and a Littlewood Fencing were asked to design, manufacture and supply the perfect solution for this project.Hafan Y Coed (Haven of Trees) Mental Health Unit at the University Hospital Llandough opened the doors of their £ 88 million facility back in 2016 offering patients a modern, therapeutic and recovery-focused unit.Powell Dobson and Laing O’Rouke designed and constructed the detailed mental health unit, and in order to match the level of safety of the building, their hospital security fencing needed to encourage privacy and security throughout.The BriefSecurity of patients and staff was paramount when understanding the brief for the new perimeter fence line and security access control. Downe primary school chooses anti-trap bow top fencing for safe playground environment

Within the school grounds is a grassy area with play equipment that needed to be demarcated in order to distinguish it from the rest of the playground and allow different age groups to play simultaneously yet independently.
We supplied 19.1 metres of 1.2m high Anti Trap Bow Top fencing, and a 1.2m high 1.5m wide single leaf self-closing gate, both finished with a blue RAL 5010 polyester powder coating to match the school colours.

ASF were approached by AECOM Engineers regarding the Mid Calder Fish Pass and Viewing Platform. A number of cast iron post options were investigated. The ASF Buckden 2 Rail Post was eventually chosen, with a new bespoke post made to act as a guardrail panel post for the viewing area. Double gates were bespoke manufactured to compliment the scheme.The cast iron posts are 100% recycled, and 100% UK manufactured in our own, onsite foundry

10 South Colonnade is a modern office development located in the heart of Canary Wharf, providing 560,000 sq ft of Grade A office space. It now serves as a government hub housing multiple government departments.Background Situated in the vibrant Canary Wharf area, 10 South Colonnade serves as the office hub for civil and public servants in East London. The relocation from Whitehall is part of an initiative to modernize the Civil Service in line with the then-new Workplace Plan.ChallengeThe client sought a company experienced in the government sector, understanding its associated risks. With numerous employees moving through the building, they needed an entrance solution that could handle highthroughput demands while providing enhanced security features.A solution was desired to be at the main access point within the building that would prevent tailgating, ensuringaccess to the upper floors via lift lobbies was secured at all times. Only allowing authorised personnel within the building.Solution To cope with the high numbers of staff transiting through the building daily, Meesons installed fifteen lanesof EasyGate SPT, consisting of thirteen standard-width lanes and two wide access lanes, across two entrances.To complete the secure line to the escalators and lift lobbies, cabinet-hung and post-mounted infill were used to secure the space at the sides of the Speed Gates.The EasyGate SPT-G was specified due to the glass wing barriers' quick opening and closing speed, allowing the transit of up to 40 people per minute. The SPT Speed Gate also offers a holding force over 650N, preventing the wings from being forced open by unauthorised users.Outcome Meesons' commitment to quality and innovation was evident in every aspect of the installation. The robust construction and reliable performance of the Speed Gates provided the client with peace of mind, knowing that their security needs were met without compromising on style or efficiency. Maidstone Borough Council Safely Secures New Mote Park Play Area with Anti Trap Bow Top Fencing

Mote Park is a 450-acre green space within the town of Maidstone, Kent. The expansive park has woodland, grasslands and rivers all surrounding a 30 acre lake. To safely secure the perimeter of the new play area we supplied 230 metres of Anti Trap Bow Top fencing and a number of matching gates. Due to the nature of the site, other park users and the large volumes of families with young children expected to visit the play park, safety was a top priority throughout the project.

Jaguar Land Rover's site in Solihull is a major operation for the global car manufacturer. The nature of the production and logistics centre means that there is constantly high flow of industrial and domestic vehicle traffic around the building, as well as pedestrians. Brandsafe designed, supplied and installed a range of safety systems to meet the needs of the client, both aesthetically and operationally. The new pedestrian walkway system is a key component of this, with safety barriers and gates, as well as highly visible HGV clatter bars to help protect against vehicle collisions.

The Clipper Group warehouse in Northampton provides a distribution and logistics hub for multiple retail and high value brands. As such, Brandsafe were brought in to ensure that the warehouse is able to operate in a safe and efficient manner. Keeping the flow of pedestrian and vehicular traffic moving smoothly and safely is the priority here, which was achieved by implementing secure caged walkways and Armco barriers with built-in pedestrian handrail, safety ends and gates. As a result, the employees and high value goods at Clipper are protected from potential vehicle impacts.

In working together with the project’s engineers, automatic sliding door systems were determined to be the optimal solution for the bus depot due their reliability and safety. The clean lines of the ASSA ABLOY sliding doors also complemented other elements of the broader French gate Centre urban renewal project, which includes an integrated train station and car park for visitors to the nearby city centre, in addition to the shopping mall.
Independent special school provides safety and security for pupils with 358 mesh

Hope View Independent School is a boys only institution that works with 7-18 year olds who have behavioural and learning difficulties. The school is situated close to a major transport route and along the same road as the train station.
We supplied and installed 20m of Securi-Mesh® 358 fencing 2.44m high to replace existing fencing that was close to the train station and track. In addition to the fencing, we installed a single leaf Securi-Mesh® matching gate which has the same properties as the fencing, meaning there are no weak gaps in the perimeter.

Creating a new logistical and warehousing space in Cambridge, project managers at a new premises at Farboud Innovation Park got in touch with our Goods Lift Manager, Nick Gibbons. They were looking to include 2 high capacity goods lifts on the project to improve efficiency at the premises.
They decided our box goods lift was ideal for the project. The quick turnaround and additional hard-wearing features to prevent damage when loading made it suitable for goods logistics. The team chose a shutter gate on the upper floor, but swing doors on the lowest floor for alternative loading efficiency.
IKO Permaphalt - Act of Faith

When Westminster Cathedral’s roof was first asphalted back in 1903, it would have utilised naturally occurring asphalt deposits dug up from an overseas lake.
These days, things are done a little differently. Instead, IKO’s Permaphalt – a polymer modified mastic asphalt – was specified for the extensive reroofing of the Cathedral by Architect, Michael Drury from St Ann’s Gate Architects.
“Asphalt had worked well for the Cathedral in the past and there was no reason why it shouldn’t again,” he said, adding the new roofing’s 25 year guarantee clinched the decision for a like-for-like replacement.

One of the main points of access to the venue is across an elevated walkway. Infill panels for the balustrade were supplied by Lang+Fulton, made from Micro-34 architectural grating; the galvanized finish and rectilinear appearance complimenting the surrounding buildings.
Continuity throughout the overall project was achieved with a Roma-3 grating fence and entrance gates to secure the northern perimeter of the site. In addition, a series of Roma-3 compounds were designed for the secure storage of Events Catering deliveries.

A landmark in the regeneration of Spitalfields,The Steward Building is situated within the historically and architecturally interesting Artillery Passage Conservation Area.The site required the highest quality stainless steel louvre as a street front cladding, providing ventilation and visual screening, on two elevations of a prime office development.The design, which was developed by Lang+Fulton, featured recessed supports for the panels and incorporated a sliding door with concealed gate hardware to achieve a seamless aesthetic.The louvred panels were made from DeltaBox/SS-90 a pressure locked stainless steel product.

In the midst of 2020, the construction of 80 Charlotte Street was completed, transforming Fitzrovia in London with fresh offices, apartments, and retail areas. The impressive 377,00 sq ft structure, crafted by Make Architects, holds a value exceeding £200 million. With nine storeys, it stands as London's largest all-electric building.In 2021, Make Architects described 80 Charlotte Street as Derwent London's most extensive project. The mixed-use development aimed to blend existing structures with modern elements, creating 321,000ft2 office space and 45,000ft2 residential units, including social housing.Situated in Fitzrovia, at 80 Charlotte Street, the project seamlessly integrates into the urban landscape, emphasising the city and street context in its design. The project features a new public garden and retail spaces.The development encompasses various components, including the commercial office space at 80 Charlotte Street, the private rental flats at Charlotte Apartments, and new apartments above two floors of office space at Asta House.ChallengeTo prevent unauthorised access to the lift lobby, a secure solution that allows easy access for guests while incorporating a token return process was needed. Additionally, the solution would need to be controllable remotely from a front desk and aesthetically pleasing within the reception area.SolutionFrom air-source heat pumps that prevent traditional gas boilers from being required to their outstanding statistics, such as being 34% better operational efficiency than Building Regulations, it’s clear that sustainability is a top priority.Within the speed gates chosen are LED Edge Lights, complementing the theme of being considerate of the environment since this choice ensures far less energy has to be produced.The bank of speed gates that the client opted for perfectly merges in with 80 Charlotte Street’s overall look due to the black stainless-steel finish that discreetly fits in with the interiors. With black panelling surrounding the area, the speed gates seamlessly go together with their existing aesthetic.On top of this, the client decided to put in place both low-iron glass top lids and wings, making for a completely clear view that also provides added security from those attempting to jump over the barriers.OutcomeFrom the utmost sustainability to a beautiful minimalist design, 80 Charlotte Street is set to continue to draw people into a new work environment. What's more, with 300 cycle racks, it encourages a sustainable return to the office.
