A vibrant new community is being created at Battersea Power Station offering the best retail, office, leisure and green space plus unique homes. Working with Maylim, the Outdoor Deck Company were specified for a multitude of areas across this 39-acre site, including the supply and installation of Cedar privacy screening for all apartments on the podium level plus a large Iroko deck area alongside the retail outlets. The Outdoor Deck Company were also responsible for the supply and install of timber seating in the specially designed communal areas and Cumaru seating, planters and a bespoke pergola on Level 8.

Cordek was asked to provide a lightweight structural fill solution to raise the height of the newly constructed terraces, thus enabling additional rows of seating to be added.

THE BRIEFFull regeneration projectLangley Design worked with Ground Control on part of the regeneration project for the former Longbridge car plant site in Birmingham. Longbridge is one of the largest and most significant regeneration schemes in the UK, a long-term £1 billion initiative to breathe new life into one of Britain’s most famous industrial areas.This scheme has produced shops, offices, new homes, a hotel and a college constructed alongside a park, helping a new community in south Birmingham to rapidly take shape.WHAT WE DIDNew seating solutionsLangley Design were tasked with providing the town’s new seating solutions. We manufactured and installed a range of benches and seats all in hardwood iroko and galvanised powder-coated steel to complement the newly landscaped area.THE RESULTBespoke manufacturerOur circular bench was specifically chosen to be placed around the town’s freshly planted trees, as a bespoke manufacturer we are able to provide solutions in a range of dimensions and with additional extras such as arm rests, backrests and anti-skate studs when needed.

Part of the YORbuild2 framework the leisure centre comprises of a two-storey, two-pool complex, with double-height foyer leading to wet changing areas and mezzanine leading to spectator seating and exercise studios.Delta supplied and installed Orbis balustrades with glass infill for the poolside, foyer void and external ramp walkway, Orbis balustrades with vertical bars for the stairs and Vista balustrades for the spectator seating area.

This project features a unique look, designed by us with made-to-measure stonework, including deck-level pool copings and integrated spa seating, incorporating inset lighting.

Our team at Helmsman manufactured, delivered, and installed a variety of our Heated Lockers. There were 35 three-compartment Laminate Lockers to accommodate 105 people, as well as installing 28 Z Lockers to accommodate 56 people.The lockers were manufactured with wet specifications which means that the Laminate lockers are manufactured for an environment where there is humidity, which can also withstand rust. The lockers are manufactured with an aluminium and stainless-steel body and laminate doors.The specifications of the three-compartment lockers and Z lockers were to be 1775mm high, 298mm wide, and 450mm deep. Along with the lockers, the lockers were all installed with seat stands. The measurement of the seat stand was 300mm wide and 450 deep, the stands were powder coated in colour ‘Black’, to match the body of the lockers. Whereas the seating was in our standard slats of Ash Hardwood.The body of the Heated Lockers was powder coated in ‘Black’. The laminate doors were in the vibrant colour of ‘Ballerina’. The heated lockers were finished with Lowe & Fletcher Nimbus in ‘Black’ which is a great choice as it secures personal belongings, along with many benefits such as having a collection of user modes such as public, private, or technician mode.

THE BRIEFDigital skills centre landscaped courtyard at Cirencester CollegeLangley Design worked with E G Carter & Co on the new £4 million digital skills centre at Cirencester College and we were pleased to be able to offer our services on this local project. There was a requirement here for some curved timber seating for the newly landscaped courtyard areas. WHAT WE DIDPremium seating facilities for studentsWe manufactured and installed our Sheldon benches SBN307 in Class 4 Treated Redwood timber with a Dark Oak stain to give a more premium finish. The client opted for the more stylish flat legs for the benches which were powder coated to RAL8040 to tie in with the building façade. We also supplied our smaller Sheldon Cube SBN316 to provide individual seating facilities for the students. THE RESULTAn ongoing relationship with the collegeThe college were really pleased with our products and approached us directly a few months later to provide some picnic tables and benches to their roof terrace for the staff to enjoy the outdoors during breaktimes.The same material was chosen for these products to ensure consistency across the site.

Our team at Helmsman had the pleasure of manufacturing and installing a variety of staff lockers and bench seating. Helmsman team manufactured 60 one-compartment metal lockers with sloping tops and 4 of fifteen-compartment garment dispensers. All the staff lockers are manufactured with a sloping top, which is a great addition as it reduces the pose of hazards if items are stored and prevents the growth of dust and dirt on top of the lockers.The specification of the metal locker was 1800mm high, 380mm wide and 450mm deep, however, the sloping top adds 150mm to the height. The staff lockers were all powder coated from Helmsman standard colour charts. The carcass of the metal lockers and the garment dispenser was powder-coated in ‘Ice’, whereas the doors were powder-coated in ‘Skye’ which creates an uplifting mood for the staff with the brightness of the colour.The lockers were completed with a vedette laminated number plate as well as a Helmsman locking system of cam locks, which is a great secure lock, assuring the employees that their personal belongings are safe whilst being at work.Additionally, with this order, clients also requested bench seats in a wet spec, which is suitable for an environment that has high humidity. The specification of the bench seats was 450mm high, 3250mm long and 350mm wide. Harlequin worked closely with the Royal Academy of Dance throughout the whole planning and development process. After working with Harlequin for After working with Harlequin for over 30 years, the RAD knew that they wanted Harlequin floors in their new studios. Harlequin supplied and installed over 1200m2 of Harlequin Activity sprung floor and Harlequin Cascade vinyl performance floor with BioCote antimic antimicrobial protection. Harlequin water cut the mirrors to fit the wall mounted ballet barres directly to the walls to create a seamless and neat finish. Along with the studios, RAD’s new home for dance has a 193-seat pe 193-seat performance space with Harlequin Activity and Harlequin Cascade to showcase the RAD’s dancing talent. 

THE BRIEFStreet furniture packageSpecified by PLACE DP for this high-calibre school re-build, an important element of the street furniture package, along with the benches and planters provided, was the parent and pupil waiting area situated at the front of the school. WHAT WE DIDCombined seatingThe requirement was for a large combined seating and cycle parking canopy, which was achieved by installing two large clear span units side by side. THE RESULTPleasing visual impactThe non-fragile polycarbonate roofing system is designed to let the light through, whilst stopping harmful UV rays. The bright and airy design of these shelters gives a pleasing visual impact to this area and reflects well on the quality of the whole school.

Daventry International Rail Freight Terminal (DIRFT) is a rail-road intermodal freight terminal with an associated warehousing estate in Northamptonshire. Owned by Prologis, the business park was originally built in the 90’s, but a recent expansion has added around 4 million square feet of storage and office space. Some buildings are already occupied by leading brands such as Royal Mail, BooHoo, Dunelm, Tesco and Sainsburys.DIRFT’s Unit DC628 (DC10) is a net zero carbon building with 627,707 square foot warehouse space rated BREEAM Excellent. Among its features are solar PV systems, a roof terrace, and enhanced external amenities.Our team was commissioned to provide seating and planting solutions for the outdoor amenity space and roof terrace by BCA Design, Landscape Architects for the project.Our RailRoad modular seating solution with Delta supports, and FSC iroko timber slats, that are left untreated to allow natural weathering, was installed in the outdoor amenity area adjacent to the car park - along with Parallel picnic tables and benches and Zenith 500 litter bins - creating an outdoor lunch break environment in which employees can enjoy during warm weather.Decking supplied by Outdoor Deck was installed on the roof terrace of the building, complete with our AKRI 300 steel planters with 500mm high panels, manufactured from triple process recycled steel, to form a variety of linear shapes filled with plants and greenery to create a peaceful oasis with a view of the countryside.Seating and benches made from FSC Iroko timber which included armrests on some, were integrated onto the planters to provide warehouse staff with quiet spaces to relax. The rooftop planters were complemented by the addition of our Hollo range of freestanding low seating / tables

Angel Central is a popular shopping destination in Islington, London. Famous for its beautiful Angel Wing sculpture that is situated at the entrance. Artform were invited to provide a selection of street furniture elements that would complement each other and the new improvements. The Strata Beam Bench and Seat has subtly faceted concrete legs that create an interesting play between light and shadow, the timber slats match the flooring chosen for the bridge.The Ecomix Litter Bin continues the theme of angles and light with a grey body and white top. The Box Litter Bin was also chosen for an uncovered area, the timber front panel coordinated with the seating. The street furniture package was picked to deliver sophisticated design and a continuity with the new landscaping and architecture.

Broxap Street Furniture has designed, manufactured and installed a range of cycle parking and has supplied seating, picnic benches, door barriers and litter and recycling bins for the £20 million Chorlton High School South.

King Edward VI Northfield School For Girls, a distinguished educational institution, presented NBB Outdoors with a clear project brief aimed at enhancing their outdoor seating areas within a recreational courtyard. The principal project objectives were as follows:  Sheltered Outdoor Seating: The school aspired to establish a comfortable and welcoming outdoor seating area for students and staff, facilitating various activities such as dining, socialising, and studying. Protection from adverse weather conditions, including rain and sun, was a paramount requirement. Aesthetic Integration: It was of utmost importance that the new shelters seamlessly harmonised with the existing school environment. This included integrating with the school’s modern aesthetics characterised by uniform colour schemes in the main building’s composite panelling and guttering. Durability and Longevity: Given the investment in these outdoor shelters, the school desired structures that would stand the test of time and endure even the harshest conditions.  To fulfil the unique requirements of King Edward VI Northfield School For Girls, NBB Outdoors devised and implemented a bespoke solution encompassing the following key features:   Bespoke Design: Covering a combined 112 square metres and perfectly spanning the full width of the paved courtyard, the two shelters provide ample space for students and staff to enjoy the outdoors comfortably. Additionally, each shelter has been sub-surfaced with the paving slabs reinstated to maintain a clean finish. Rainwater Management: Guttering and downpipes were thoughtfully incorporated into the shelter design to prevent rainwater from cascading over the shelter’s edges. This feature ensured that the outdoor seating area remained dry even during inclement weather. Aesthetic Consistency: The shelters were finished in Signal Brown RAL 8002, in keeping with the school’s modern aesthetic. This careful colour coordination seamlessly integrated the new shelters into the existing surroundings, creating a unified and visually appealing environment. Corrosion Resistance: The freestanding shelters were treated with NBB Outdoors’ industry-leading Triplex anti-corrosion finish, providing exceptional resistance to corrosion and environmental stressors. This finish guaranteed the shelters’ durability for 25 years.  The new outdoor seating areas have contributed to an improved campus experience, providing students with a versatile and welcoming space to engage in various activities. By aligning with the school’s aesthetic preferences, ensuring durability, and creating comfortable outdoor spaces, NBB Outdoors has exceeded the expectations of the educational institution.

Meadows Business Park is undergoing a major repositioning, providing modern working for a post covid-19 world. With 3 refurbished buildings positioned in landscaped grounds, providing workspaces, offices, central café, gym, cycle storage and showers. Located next to Blackwater Railway station, tenants of Meadows Business Park can enjoy pop up shops, street food markets, walks around the 100 acre shepherds meadow and even Peloton bikes, as well as a range of classes in the gym.As part of the refurbishment of these buildings, we worked alongside OD Interiors to manufacture and install the lockers and bench seating for the cycle storage and shower areas. As part of the project, we provided 22 wet specification Laminate Z Lockers for the male changing rooms, 22 wet specification Laminate Z Lockers for the female changing rooms and bench seating for both changing areas and the cycle storeroom.The stunning Laminate Z Lockers were manufactured with an aluminium body, stainless steel door frame and Abet Laminate doors. The colours chosen were Mountain Oak and Ice White from Abet’s range of laminate colours. We work with a variety of suppliers of laminate, allowing us to offer a large selection of colours and finishes, from carbon-neutral options, wood effect styles, through to bright pops of colour.In each changing room, 13 of the 22 Z Lockers were fitted with seat stands, with the remaining 9 lockers fitted to stands. The frames for the stands and seat stands are powder coated in RAL colour white, with the seat slats in Mountain Oak laminate to match the locker doors. To keep the project slick and uniform, the end panels, infills and the cladding to hide the stands are in the Ice White laminate, also matching the doors.The locks chosen for the project were the Digilock Versa Keypad locks. These are a great choice for both assigned, or shared use, and so were perfect for the shared changing rooms at Meadow Business Centre. ASF had been manufacturing a whole range of products for Blackburn Centre via Capita Blackburn, using a whole range of material - granite for seating and architectural elements, timber, granite and stainless steel seating, stainless steel and granite bollards etc etc. ASF were then approached to work on a bespoke post and panel design for a rising and curving site along a roadside, designed to form a definite but aesthetically pleasing barrier. Working on drawings initially supplied by the client, ASF's pattern makers made the tooling for the posts and successfully produced test castings of them. The posts are manufactured in 100% recycled cast iron and in isolation automatically meet 3kN loading.The panel designs were a product of multi agency teamwork to come up with a design that complimented the posts but were also pleasing in isolation.

The historic Grade II listed former dock offices will be home of the Project Hub for the Canada Water Masterplan to oversee the regeneration of Canada Water into a new town centre for the local area. The Hub will contain a flexible exhibition and event space, as well as office space for project staff.Artform Urban have supplied a range of seating to the Project Hub to create a welcoming courtyard space for staff and visitors to enjoy during the ongoing project works and beyond.The Dea-Diva-Lua-Ela-Stella seating range is manufactured entirely from thick laser-cut sheet steel that has been powder coated with a high-quality Faux Corten effect paint. The distinctive and unique pattern is derived from the surrounding landscape that sits at home in the leafy space. The seats are part of a range of products designed by French architect Marc Aurel that include litter bins and tree grilles all featuring the recognisable and attractive perforated leaf designs.The Canada Water Masterplan is expected to deliver up to 3,000 new homes, two million sq ft of workspace and one million sq ft of retail, leisure, entertainment and community space including proposed health and social infrastructure, and educational uses for all ages.The vision for Canada Water is to be a place where the community will shape and share in the development's success.

The passenger experience has been improved at West Bromwich Bus Station thanks to a major refurbishment programme.Broxap Street Furniture carried out the removal and replacement of 40 seats and 22 bins under a framework agreement working for West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

Artform Urban Furniture was appointed by Sager House (Almeida) to provide seating and cycle parking to a mixed-use community space in Islington, North London.Hidden behind an Edwardian façade of a former postal sorting office, Islington Square has been over a decade and a half in the making after the plot was initially bought in 2003 by Developers Cain International. After years of careful planning and construction, the site is now complete and comprises of independent retail units, restaurants, galleries, event spaces, a cinema, and 263 new flats.The intention of the project was to bring variety back to the high street and as well as the boutique shops, unique retailers and events spaces this consideration was echoed in the choice of street furniture. A selection of our stone seating and planter elements have been supplied to the site that feature distinctive designs to stand out. The Up Bench is a sculptural and modular bench, manufactured from a binding compound of granite that has been bush hammered and treated against deterioration. Inslington Square features combined runs of Up benches that create snaking blocks of social seating.The Arrowhead range of benches and planters are dotted around the space bringing natural colour as well as further social seating opportunities. These curvaceous monolith-shaped units offer a low-maintenance and resilient alternative to traditional street furniture. Their weight and mass also allow their placement to be considered in terms of building pedestrian protection from vehicles.Finally, considerations for cycling visitors and residents have been met with a selection of our premium cycle stands. The Ride Cycle Stand features concealed connections and discreet leveling glides to make the stand appear balanced in air. The cast aluminium flat ribbon frame marks it as a member of the Metro40 family of street furniture. 25 Units were supplied which provide great bicycle support with the capability for attachment at two points and holds two bicycles creating parking space for up to 50 bikes. Islington Square is an inclusive, pedestrian-friendly hub that sits at the heart of the surrounding community and brings something different to both residents and visitors.

Victoria Gate is one half of Victoria Leeds; a beautiful shopping district, recognised as one the premium shopping destinations in the North of England.The award-winning Victoria Gate opened in October 2016 and is a modern interpretation of Victoria Quarter, paying homage to the surrounding architecture. Victoria Gate brings together brands such as Anthropologie, The White Company and Aspinal of London, in addition to being home to the largest John Lewis store outside London.Artform were asked to supply a mixture of street furniture items to the prestigious city centre development, with the initial specification being produced by ACME Architects, London but the majority of the dialogue and final decision was directly with the client's project management team.Samples of all materials and finishes were supplied, to ensure that the client and team were comfortable with the final proposal and furniture elements.The products specified were the Parc Vue seats, with and without armrests, the Loop cycle stands and the Spencer litter bins, plus in this instance, Artform also provided a full supply and installation service on this project.The traditional seating and cycle stand designs were pivotal in the selection process, ensuring that they integrated with the timeless character of Victoria Gate. The distinctive diamond shaped latticework covering the roof of the complex is echoed in the Parc Vue seat and the Loop cycle stand, making them the perfect addition to complement this impressive architectural structure.The result has encouraged bicycle use and reduced congestion, offering a space for visitors to rest and contemplate, without compromising on the aesthetics of the surrounding structure.

The outdoor seating canopies have given the students at Leeds West Academy the opportunity to get outside every day, regardless of the season. They can now sit on our sturdy benches and chat with friends, refuel with healthy snacks at break time, or eat their lunch beneath a range of appealing shelters.

Luton Dart LandscapingStreet furniture | landscape seatingUnity RangeLocation: LutonLuton DART Station in Bartlett Square has been upgraded as part of the ‘Luton Rising’ project and now features Townscape’s Unity range of precast concrete benches with inset timber tops along with fully clad Unity litter bins.This commercial development off Kimpton Road, next to Luton Airport Parkway station is set in a partially landscaped garden. Our seating provides a place for the public to dwell and reflect. The Architects were Capita the constructors were Ryebridge Construction.The project strives to provide pedestrian access across Bartlett Square to the Luton DART Parkway station from Kimpton Road, along with a small area of public realm. Townscape’s involvement has assisted in creating a new and high-quality public realm that is practical and links the rail station with local businesses and residents.

Versa tables aren’t just for dining! Wellington School were in need of a flexible, robust and multi-use dining furniture solution that could be used for a variety of activities throughout the school day. The furniture needed to stand up to years of daily use from over 1,300 students.Our Benchmark and ConverTables proved to be the perfect solution to meet their specific needs. The Benchmark table can be set up in under 10 seconds and provides a seating and tabling solution for up to 20 students, plus when it’s stored it takes up 44% less space than standard bulky stool tables! This combined with ConverTable’s ability to easily switch from bench seat to lecture-style table to dining table has created a truly winning, agile combination in the hall.The end result at Wellington is a multi-use hall suitable for a wide range of activities with durable, robust furniture that will last for many years.

Installed throughout the common room and seating areas on the ground floor, Times Square carpet tiles in colourways Grey and Natural complement the modern, contemporary design ofthe building and its interior. Furthermore, Skyline carpet tiles in colourways Trinity (beige) and Empire (grey) were installed throughout the corridors to the bedrooms.

Meadowbank Sports Centre has been the home of elite sport in Edinburgh since the 1930s. The historic Meadowbank stadium was built for the 1970 Commonwealth Games, which it also hosted for a second time in 1986. For nearly 50 years the centre was open to both elite athletes and the local community before it closed in 2017. Designed to high standards of sustainability by Holmes Miller Architects, the new centre is part of a wider regeneration of the surrounding area in accordance with the City of Edinburgh Council’s long-term plan to cut carbon emissions and at the same time improve the health and wellbeing of the local community. Providing access to state-of-the-art sport and physical activity on their doorstep, the new centre is first and foremost a community sports facility. There is an outdoor athletics track with a 500-seat capacity stand and inside facilities include two multi-sports halls with fixed and moveable spectator seating, two squash courts, a gym floor and fitness studios all fitted with Junckers’ solid hardwood flooring. The two multi-sport halls are fitted with Junckers 22mm Maple Champion flooring providing a durable and long-lasting floor that will easily withstand high levels of usage. Installed over Junckers UnoBat 45 subfloor system, the floor offers a safe and high-performing surface with excellent shock absorption and ball bounce, fully conforming to EN 14904 class A4. Installed by Junckers’ Approved Contractor Courtcraft, the floor has a 25-year warranty which includes a regular maintenance programme to keep the floor in optimal condition. The larger sports hall houses a large-capacity retractable seating unit which can be rolled out onto the sports floor when needed and stored away when not in use. With extensive technical expertise in this area, Junckers will advise on how to strengthen the sprung batten system to allow for heavy loads whilst leaving the sprung quality of the floor unaffected. A sealed solid hardwood flooring surface is very resistant to the type of wear and tear which may occur with retractable seating systems. Seating wheels will not mark or indent the Junckers floor whereas vinyl and other synthetic floors are often impossible to use because the wheels cause permanent tracking marks and scuffs. In addition, Courtcraft installed Junckers’ SylvaSquash flooring in two squash courts, a high-performance solid beech floor left unfinished to ensure high grip-levels; and Maple Champion in the two fitness studios. Junckers’ 22mm oak flooring was also supplied for standing-only plinths the gym area, fitted by GL Floors. A sporting and social hub for Edinburgh, Meadowbank Sports Centre offer participation and accessibility at the heart of the centre, bringing physical, mental, and social benefits to the local community and beyond for generations to come. The project was a collaboration between The City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Leisure and sportscotland.

The living wall at the newly renovated Bell Court Shopping Centre in Stratford-upon-Avon is part of a large refurbishment project to improve the existing town centre location including the associated NCP car park. The living wall overlooks a courtyard area with cafe seating creating a pleasant public realm space.
