Bailey Street Furniture Group

Artform Urban Furniture supplies a range of specified bottle refill water fountains to Manchester city centre's first new public park in more than 100 years.Mayfield park sees the transformation of a vast, mostly derelict, former industrial site next to Piccadilly Station into a stunning, accessible and varied green space for all to enjoy. The 6.5-acre park surrounds the banks of the River Medlock and features green lawns and gardens with trees and shrubbery, as well as walkways for the public to use and a large children's play area. The site has an industrial history of innovation spanning back to the 1700’s and the park landscape recognises this by utilising old industrial rusted cast iron relics from the mills as sculptures that are dotted around the space. The Fuente Fountains in Corten steel were specified by Studio Egret West for the project, to match the surrounding industrial aesthetic of the park. The fountains have been placed across the park to provide accessible water refilling stations for visitors to use and reduce plastic waste. Water fountains are becoming a popular choice in urban spaces with developers recognising a push needed towards reducing plastic waste. The Fuente Fountain is available in a variety of shapes and finishes as well as a version with an additional tap lower down with a stainless steel bowl for dogs.Mayfield Park is part of a £1.4bn development that will continue over the next decade and will eventually completely transform the whole surrounding area near Piccadilly station into a vibrant new neighbourhood - delivering 1,500 homes, 1.6m sq ft of commercial space, as well 300,000 sq ft of retail and leisure. The park opened to the public in September 2022 and is a welcome addition to the city centre bringing a much-needed oasis of green space for local residents, visitors and communities across Manchester.

RYNO

A high-profile development project in the heart of Fulham aimed at creating a new residential neighbourhood in and around a beautiful park (King's Road Park), by transforming a redundant gas works site into a brand new sustainable urban quarter. In one of London's most sought-after locations, King's Road Park is literally a stone's throw from King's Road and the River Thames. The project creates over 1,800 homes, restoring two Grade II listed buildings and provides 100,000 sq. ft. of commercial space, featuring bars, restaurants, and offices.RYNO were contacted late in the project by AYM, acting as sub-contractor for this Berkeley Group development, to remedy the combustible decking in the original specification, which was obviously not compliant with fire-safety regulations. The requirement was that all the decking be replaced with a non-combustible wood-grain finish. We worked directly with Berkeley Group to explore non-combustible finish options and put forward onr of our newer porcelain finishes that would match the overall aesthetic appeal of the project. We delivered various samples of finishes and when we deep-dived into the project, as part of our methodology, we determined that it was at risk of wind-uplift. Berkeley Group carried out a wind-uplift assessment, which we facilitated, and confirmed the risk, which we then helped mitigate by proposing kerfed porcelain tiles with our Hidden Wind Uplift fixing. We worked very closely with Berkeley Group throughout the project to address and resolve any challenges, while AYM did a fantastic job installing all the balconies and terraces with our kerfed porcelain and hidden wind-uplift fixing. This has been one of our largest projects to-date, a great success and a prime example of our hidden restraint in action. Vehicle/Pedestrian safety barriers for the new 627 space, 6 storey car park at the Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.Like many hospitals, Derriford in Plymouth has to match ever-increasing numbers of patients, visitors and staff with limited parking availability. The new 627 space multi-storey car park on the North West Quadrant will go a long way towards easing the situation for the daily 8,000 footfall to the hospital. Part of a 6.6 hectare site being developed by Wharfside Regeneration for Plymouth Hospitals Trust, the new car park was designed by international architects S333 and built by Sir Robert McAlpine Limited. The eco-friendly design features green walls with climbing plants on the two lowest levels, steel latticework on the next two and timber latticework on levels 5 and 6. We recommended our RB1X Spring Steel Buffers that ‘give’ in a collision to absorb impact forces and minimise damage to the barrier, the vehicle and the car park deck that the barrier is mounted on. After an impact, the barrier returns to its original position to provide ongoing protection. Berry Beam rails were used to give a more refined  appearance than the traditional Armco ‘W’ section.A BS 6180 compliant pedestrian handrail was mounted above the barrier on post extensions of 1,100mm high and the space in between filled with anti-climb mesh to stop pedestrians from falling through, or even climbing over the barrier.

Project:Thames Park Client: Department for Education (DfE) Contractor:Bower & Kirkland (B&K) Architect:Stride Treglown Value: £24m Location:Grays, Essex GIFA: 6950m2 Completion:September 2022SOLUTION Innovaré supporting Bowmer & Kirkland delivered the £24m Thames Park School through the DfE Offsite Framework. The proposed designs and plans for the school were carefully considered, with collaboration between project partners, staff at the school and the Design Review Panel at Thurrock Council. The Innovaré team managed the structural design, manufacture, and installation. Thames Park was constructed utilising a hybrid offsite approach incorporating Innovaré’s i-FAST panelised solution, integrating windows and external brick slips to the ground floor and cladding above. Roof cassettes were by Pasquils and pre-cast concrete floors by Creagh Concrete, with M&E specialist DBS supporting the fit-out solution for the plant room offsite. OUTCOME Taking the majority of the build offsite and using scaffold-less installation improved onsite health and safety. The project was 100% safe with zero hours lost to RIDDORS and accidents. Utilising offsite manufacture also allowed for a higher quality finish, with a robust testing and quality checking system to reduce ongoing maintenance. Basing the design on CIBSE, BS – U-Values as low as 0.21w/m2k were achieved, reducing energy requirements for the lifetime of the school. Insulated wall panels and precast concrete floors also allow enhanced temperature management, reducing heating and cooling costs and associated carbon output. Innovaré’s input assisted in the delivery of ‘Configure Offsite 3.0’ – a mature standardised yet flexible school solution, designed to exceed the stringent requirements of the DfE’s output specification and also reduce construction duration by 30%. The collaborative approach taken during the project culminated in enhanced Pre-Manufactured Value, reduced onsite construction time and minimised environmental impact. This further improved construction quality and health and safety.Paul Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of Osbourne Co-operative Academy Trust, said: “We have worked very closely with the main contractors Bowmer & Kirkland and the DfE on the design of our new school and we feel the educational principles and digital vision that drive this project have been keenly thought through, so that this development delivers more than just a state-of-the-art school, but also a community facility that serves the local area and enhances the landscape in which it sits.” Headteacher of Thames Park, Kam Bains, said: “We are delighted and excited by the opportunity to deliver outstanding learning facilities and a permanent home for the wonderful students at Thames Park Secondary School. We were delighted to have succeeded in a competitive tender to carry out the playground refurbishment works at Decoy Park, Newton Abbot, Devon, in the summer of 2021. Decoy Park is a beloved recreational space in the town, with a large lake, woodland trails, and adjacent football pitches complimenting the play equipment at the park. Our design reflected the semi rural nature of the landscape, with a huge Treehouse structure sitting as the centrepiece of the area, standing almost 6m tall with a tube slide coming off the top level.A dynamic area aimed at older children featured two aerial runways, a beautiful glue laminated hardwood robinia climbing frame, and an overhead rotator. A spinning machine, a unique play piece that spins the seated user vertically 360 degrees, added a unique twist to the zone, something not seen in your everyday playground! The toddler zone is a heaven for the smallest children, with tastefully designed animal graphics, a variety of spinning, balancing and rocking activities, and a fun play ship featuring telescopes, play panels and steering wheels.A variety of different safety surfaces were laid at the area, to suit the various requirements of each zone. Wet pour rubber was used for the Toddler area, as its array of colours made designing and creating the animal graphics a possibility. TigerMulch was chosen for the adventure zone, with its natural looks and hard wearing properties ideal for the dynamic activities taking place here.Decoy Park was one of those special, unique projects that don’t come around very often, and we had so much fun designing and building the new playground. Thanks to Teignbridge District Council for commissioning us to do the works, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it!
