Bespoke Premium Amazon Eco Enclosure, Watchmoor Point

The Bike Storage Company

Watchmoor Point is a well-established industrial estate in the heart of Surrey. Epiphany undertook a full warehouse and office refurbishment of the site. As a modern warehouse refurbishment in Camberley, targeting a Net Zero Carbon accreditation, Ephiphany contacted the Bike Storage Company to provide a cycle storage solution for the site to promote active travel intentionally. We partnered to develop a bespoke Amazon Eco Cycle Enclosure that would house over 20 cycles, including E-Bike charging and accessible cycle parking. The shelter, clad in beautiful, Sapele FSC-certified timber, provided cycle parking and contributed to sustainability. The racks used in the shelter were our popular Semi-Vertical Cycle Racks, which makes the most of limited floor space by utilising height. This solution reduced the enclosure's footprint while maintaining storage efficiency, a testament to our commitment to sustainable solutions.Another way to increase the site's net zero accreditation was to include a sedum roof in the shelter. Sedum green roofing involves using low-growing, succulent plants from the Sedum genus on rooftops. Benefits include reducing the urban heat island effect, supporting biodiversity, and enhancing aesthetics. To ensure security and aesthetics, the enclosure's single-leaf timber-clad gate is secured with a Fatemaster mechanical code lock, ensuring that cycles are safe and secure for their stay. Integrated internal PIR lighting ensures the cycle storage is accessible but only lit when needed. Finally, to help identify the cycle storage for employees and site visitors, a laser-cut vinyl bicycle motif was added to the exterior wall of the enclosure. Overall, the result was a beautiful, bespoke cycle enclosure that met the needs of the refurbished industrial units it served.

Yoko Ono Lennon Centre

Yoko Ono Lennon Centre

Forterra Building Products

Yoko Ono Lennon Centre is a unique teaching and performance building at the University of Liverpool. It has been designed by Liverpool School of Architecture graduates based at UK architecture practice Ellis Williams. The new facility includes The Tung Auditorium – a world class music performance space – together with two large lecture theatres, seminar rooms, café space, a public facing linear park and a new outdoor space for the University. With a floor area totalling around 6500m2 the building was planned around a careful understanding of the site and an innovative response to a challenging brief.PROJECT INFOThe lecture theatres were arranged vertically, which allowed for a much smaller building footprint – freeing up the site to deliver a linear public park alongside the main arterial route adjacent to the south elevation. This also allowed for large volume and height of Tung Auditorium to be placed adjacent to the teaching spaces, separated by the main atrium circulation space. Externally, the building’s form and materials relate to the robust architecture of some of Liverpool’s historic civic buildings and dockside architecture. The University of Liverpool was the original “red brick University” so the use of that material may seem obvious. The facing brick selected was Forterra’s Butterley Farmstead Antique. The bricks here are more than decorative however, they are a key part of the acoustic strategy and were selected for their density as well the colour and tone. The large inward looking spaces of the theatres by definition are without external windows and openings. The curved forms to the corners are used to both soften the impact of the mass (accentuated by the use of double stacked protruding bricks to catch the sun), and as a nod to the curves used in prominent corner buildings that can be seen across Liverpool.

Autex Acoustics Ltd

Luxurious in design and soundThe projectCreating an imaginative and unique workplace can be a tough task often limited by the space you are working with. That was no different for the renovations undertaken at Argyll’s, previously known as LEO, ever expanding precinct. With their company expanding rapidly, they secured the top two floors of Park House—a modern mixed-use building off Oxford Street, London. Specialising in luxury executive serviced offices, they needed their new space to appeal to a high-end audience expecting elegant, sophisticated furnishings and facilities. Working with Area Design & Build, we were brought in to help bring their plans to life. With our experience of working on previous projects with Argyll, we were prepared for the client’s keen desire to think outside the box. The open, spacious layout takes full advantage of the dramatic double-height curved walls and roof, with expanses of glazing that flood the space with light. Having such a unique space to work with, Argyll wanted to create a ‘fantastic journey’ for the inhabitants, requiring acoustic solutions throughout. The solutionThe selected acoustic products used were: Horizon™ panels – Manufactured in an organic shape to work with the designer’s concept based on biophilic design. Frontier™ 24 mm baffles – Cut in a wave formation to provide acoustic absorption to a corridor space while creating a dynamic walkway to further meeting rooms. Through the use of these acoustic solutions we helped them to create an innovative design with the options best fit to not just the design brief, but also their specific work environment. These designs combine character, style and elegance with a welcoming ambience provided by modern but comfortable furniture and generous biophilic touches. Park House is a worthy addition to Argyll’s growing portfolio of attractive, high-quality service offices.
