Players at Macclesfield FC enjoyed a speedy win thanks to the help of Styccobond F58 PLUS. The ‘no time to wait’ adhesive made quick work of the installation of LVTs and rubber floorcoverings as part of the creation of a new state-of-the-art gym at the Leasing.com stadium.  Flooring contractors began the project with a subfloor moisture test, which indicated high Relative Humidity (RH) levels in the subfloor, necessitating a moisture management solution to prevent excess subfloor moisture attacking floorcoverings and adhesives, potentially causing floor failure. Having removed surface laitance and old paint from the concrete subfloor on the lower floor, the contractors carried out surface repairs using Stopgap 460 Exterior Repair fast-setting rapid repair mortar. A single coat of Stopgap F77 waterproof surface membrane created a barrier against the excess subfloor moisture. Once the waterproof surface membrane had cured, the surface was primed using Stopgap P141 primer for non-absorbent surfaces before the company’s Red Bag self-levelling compound was applied at a thickness of 3mm to provide a perfectly smooth base for floorcoverings.   Styccobond F58 PLUS was used to affix charcoal-grey, wood-effect Kährs Calder Herringbone LVTs to create a bold statement in the main weights, cardio and boxing rooms, and changing areas.  Throughout the gym, rubber floorcoverings were also installed at fitness stations, using the adhesive in its wet state, to provide a soft cushion underfoot for customers using the equipment.  Upstairs, contractors made necessary repairs, including filling day joints, before priming the subfloor, this time opting for Stopgap P131 general purpose primer. Due to high RH readings contractors applied Stopgap F78 waterproof surface membrane. Once cured, Stopgap Red Bag self-levelling compound was again used to create a base for subsequently installed LVTs, completing a premier workout area for strength and resistance and cardio machines.

We were commissioned to supply and install cloakroom fittings and a bespoke ‘classpack’ package for a four-classroom extension at Hillside School in the north-east of Scotland... all to seriously tight deadlines.Portlethen is one of Aberdeen’s fastest-growing commuter towns and, within two years of completion, the local primary school needed space for more pupils... quickly. However, we put together a plan of works for accelerated manufacture and installed the systems in just two weeks at the end of 2020. Products from F. Ball have been used to create a hygienic flooring finish as part of a refurbishment at The Doctors Laboratory, in Salford, Manchester.Flooring contractors used Stopgap Fill and Prime 700 Superflex flexible levelling compound to prepare 1500m² of metal raised access panels before installing vinyl sheet floorcoverings and coving. Once the primer had cured, Stopgap 700 Superflex flexible levelling compound was applied to create a perfectly smooth finish for the receipt of floorcoverings. With the subfloor preparation complete, the flooring contractors could install Tarkett IQ Granit Acoustic Vinyl sheet throughout the entire area using Styccobond F46 pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive which possesses a high initial tack, making it ideal for the installing of floorcoverings over larger areas. Finally, the contractors used Styccobond F66 contact adhesive to install PVC coving. 

Edinburgh is a historic and culturally rich city. The design of the unique rooms and suites in the hotel reflect the spirit of the city. The interior design is breathtaking! The design concept from Keppie included unusual circular brass inlays for the beautiful Terrazzo flooring. Terrazzo is a composite material that is poured in situ. It consists of chips of marble, quartz, granite, and glass. The challenge was to integrate our products seamlessly into the opulent surroundings.The brass inlays supplied by Dural allowed the Terrazzo to be segmented into unusual flowing shapes and areas. Circles were specified and the Dural Z-Flex machine allowed the brass inlays to be shaped on site or prefabricated and delivered. This allowed for a reduced time schedule for such a complex design. High end materials were used throughout, creating a luxurious feel. The unique geometries that make up the flooring of ‘W Edinburgh’ coordinate seamlessly with unique furniture, artwork and lighting. A truly fabulous guest experience.

It is one of the largest and most iconic resorts in Macau and is inspired by the city of Venice, Italy. To make the most of the facilities being empty, the project continued to grow in size as the team at Center Parcs rejuvenated further areas across the family resort.“Working in constant 30°C+ temperatures during summer 2020 was challenging for both our tilers and the adhesive. Croft Gardens is a four building student accommodation at King’s College in Cambridge, achieving full Passivhaus Classic standards. With 12 rooms across three floors of three crescents and a villa, along with the Victorian Holmcroft building which provides a library, laundry room and common room area, Croft Gardens provides 84 homes for graduate students. Including graduate rooms, communal facilities, landscaping and external works, Croft Gardens will be carbon negative for the first 7-10 years of operation.Cellecta’s HEXATHERM XFLOOR 500 was specified by Feilden Clegg Bradley due to its high resistance to compression and closed cell structure that provides unrivalled resistance to water absorption, making them ideal for residential applications. These insulation boards are used under a concrete slab to comply with part L Building regulations.Gilbert-Ash was awarded this 650m² contract for this development at Barton Road.

McCormick specified that they needed staff, office and visitor lockers and Helmsman supplied. We site surveyed the facility before manufacturing of lockers started to make the most use of the space.We installed five compartment and eight compartment garment dispensers and several garment collectors for the staff changing room on the lower floor. These metal lockers were powder-coated in ‘Smoke’ and ‘Forest Green’ RAL colours to separate the areas. The two and four compartment essential metal lockers made their way to the back end of the changing room in ‘Smoke’ and ‘Royale Blue’ specifically for visitors. The two and five compartment laminate lockers in Abet ‘Ice White’ decorated the upstairs offices. These lockers needed to match the modern style of the office, with the idea to try and blend the lockers into the white walls. All lockers came with either cam locks or hasp & staple locks for extra security.

The new Hi-Speed Rail link about to go into service between Tangier and Casablanca is a feat of engineering accomplished by a consortium of Moroccan and European firms, supplied by local Hempel teams and ACQPA certified in 4 different countries. The 350km line includes 286 new infrastructures and 13 viaducts, where Hempel participated in collaboration with our long-standing customers, Spain’s URSSA and Portugal’s Martifer, on what is already acclaimed as “the world’s longest rail viaduct.”A contract requirement was that the 90,000m2 of steel surfaces be coated to an ACQPA-certified system, which in this case consisted of 2x100μm coats of Hempadur 47200, followed by 50μm of Hempathane Topcoat 55210. The steel structures were shop-coated in Europe with Hempadur 47200, our two-component, epoxy that forms a tough and hard-wearing coating in extremely short drying times, making it ideal as a primer or intermediate coat for in-shop applications.

Timber Yard consists of two residential buildings made up of a collection of 379 modern apartments in Birmingham’s Southside district. The East Block features stylish one, two and three bedroom apartments, while the West Block includes a mix of studio, one and two bedroom apartments; both buildings surround a private courtyard garden. This development provides leisure facilities such as a gym, concierge services, a club lounge and screening lounge, and parking. The location is pedestrian friendly, with Birmingham New Street and Birmingham Moor Street walkable within 10 minutes.Cellecta HEXATHERM XFLOOR 250 was specified by Claridge Architects on this project for its high resistance to compression and closed cell structure that provides unrivalled resistance to water absorption, making them ideal for residential applications.Galliard Homes and Apsley House Capital were awarded this 7,500m² contract to construct this development.

Céline Hallas, a Danish visual storyteller and founder of paint company 'color connaisseur', is quite passionate about hues. Her love of colours is strongly visible in her heritage apartment located in Nyhavn, one of the oldest neighborhoods of Copenhagen.She has transformed the stunning apartment into a symphony of chromatic colours, that despite their boldness works in perfect harmony. This vibrant living space surely makes a strong case for saying 'yes' to more colour. Pieces from iconic Danish designers like Arne Jacobsen and Poul Henningsen plays a reliable supporting role to the bold splashes of colour. For the doors, Céline has chosen the AJ97 lever handle in polished brass from d line. Sandy Park is a four-star Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. At nine-storeys, the L-shaped hotel will feature leisure facilities on the ground floor and a restaurant on the top floor. The development comprised of the demolition of a bungalow to construct a 250 bedroom hotel, which has access to the existing Sandy Park rugby club stadium complex via a footbridge. The new hotel site is situated alongside the M5 to the south of the main stadium car park adjacent to Old Rydon Lane.Cellecta’s HiDECK Overlay 18 was specified by Sigmat in this project as the overlay flooring solution. It’s ideal for flooring applications incorporating an underflooring heating system due to its high thermal conductivity which provides rapid reaction times, saving on running costs. Auriens is a luxury retirement home for people over the age of 65 that provides 56 high-end one and two-bedroom apartments alongside health and leisure facilities. Echoing the classical Georgian architecture of the area, the build is subtly future proofed with on-site private healthcare and high-spec wellness amenities. These include a pool, spa, personal trainer, salon, speakeasy bar, cinema, top restaurant, sunken garden, and a library.Cellecta’s HiDECK Overlay 18 was specified by Studio PDP as the overlay flooring solution. The Lost Gardens of Heligan welcomes over 290,000 visitors each year to explore its 200 acres of rediscovered gardens. Heligan came to Gripsure for a non-slip solution for the Jungle, where decked walkways lead visitors through immersive tropical plants and giant ferns. The Jungle is in a sheltered, deep valley. It is very steep in places, so when it rains, it’s essential visitors are kept safe. We recommended Gripsure Classic, a smooth board featuring three non-slip inserts. We chose this decking because it has the highest safety rating on the market, making it the right choice for this project. Heligan staff welcomed the innovative solution to replace sections of timber covered in chicken-wire. On this fast turnaround project we worked closely with Clarke Penman Architecture to manufacture and install polished concrete kitchen worktops and splash-backs.Concrete worktops are extremely strong and durable and designed to withstand busy family use. These were cast to the client’s individual and unique specifications using our BTX Ultra High Performance Concrete mix with a hydrophobic agent to limit moisture absorption. The worktops were cut to fit various kitchen appliances and then treated and sealed to make them stain proof.Spanning over 6 metres, separate large BTX concrete panels were carefully assembled on site and fitted with brass sink and taps by our experienced team. The finished effect is a modern, industrial look that complements client’s design style and blends perfectly with the raw plastered walls and concrete floors, which together create a truly unique and highly functional kitchen.

A residential home in Enfield, London, was extended out the back of the property and charred Accoya wood was the chosen material for the cladding. Innovative architects, Studio Hatcham, specified charred Accoya wood to make the extension distinguishable yet sensitive, enhancing the existing grey brickwork, rather than overshadowing it. The Accoya was treated using a charring technique, taking the wood from its originally light colour to a darker, burnt effect. The cladding was charred in three varying shades, creating depth to the extension; light brush “Shizen”, Graphite “Seizo” and Anthracite “Gen no”. For the posts, a deep black effect was chosen to define and accentuate, in particular, the large glass opening of the extension into the back garden. Despite charring the wood, Accoya remains durable and stable with a 50-year warranty against rot. This alongside its great sustainability credentials, made it the perfect choice for this extension.

It provides affordable, high-quality homes to first-time buyers, key workers, graduates and those who work within the city.The development offers studio, 1-bed and 2-bedroom apartments, outdoor areas, ping pong tables and a basketball court with on-site concierge service for added security.Victoria House makes use of Carlton’s Wolds Minster Blend, its varied dark tones allow it to comfortably blend into pre-existing red brick vernacular whilst also creating its own identity amongst nearby green areas and surrounding buildings.

Slotted perforations give the illusion of a grille whilst providing class C acoustic absorption above the college walkways.Gemini Walnut veneer was chosen for the space to achieve a greater consistency in colour, tone, and texture, across the space. Gemini veneers from Gustafs are natural veneer that is stained to match a chosen timber species; doing this achieves a consistent colour across the panels as well as making them less photosensitive and less susceptible to natural colour variation over time.

Valette Square is a community of 33 mixed 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms townhouses with private gardens and terraces, built in Salford’s historic centre. Developed by @buttressarchitects , it was designed to introduce new homes to the area, create easy links to nearby areas and for community spaces to exist where possible.The area is named after Pierre Adolphe Valette – a French impressionist who taught the local painter L.S Lowry, and taught at the Manchester Municipal School of Art. Slotted perforations give the illusion of a grille whilst providing class C acoustic absorption above the college walkways.Gemini Walnut veneer was chosen for the space to achieve a greater consistency in colour, tone, and texture, across the space. Gemini veneers from Gustafs are natural veneer that is stained to match a chosen timber species; doing this achieves a consistent colour across the panels as well as making them less photosensitive and less susceptible to natural colour variation over time.

Crossway Quarter is a development of flats situated 5 minutes from Bluewater Shopping Centre and near the M25. The scheme comprises of the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of 258 flats comprising of market housing - 52 one, 201 two, 5 three bedroom flats with associated parking, cycle storage, landscaping and amenity space. These 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments will appeal to investors, first-time buyers and professionals working in the capital and surrounding areas.Cellecta’s YELOfon HD10+ was specified by RM_A Architects and Shepherd Angelo Architecture due to its unrivalled acoustic performance in isolating a floating screed from a structural concrete floor. This Hotel is a 73 bed seafront Travelodge Hotel that was developed as part of Denbighshire County Council’s Waterfront Regeneration programme for Rhyl. Constructed on the site of the East Parade car park near the former Sun Centre, the three-storey timber-framed hotel has a render finish. It includes four accessible rooms, a ground floor reception, a bar, a breakfast restaurant area, and an onsite car park. This is the first hotel at Rhyl Beach, the company’s 576th Travelodge, and the company’s 27th hotel in Wales.Cellecta DECKfon 26T was specified by Ion Developments due to it being the ideal acoustic overlay treatment to improve the performance of the original structural timber decked floor. The tongue and groove on the floorboard make it quick and easy to install, saving time and money.Wynne Construction was awarded this 1,400m² contract to construct this hotel in North Wales.

Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys is one of three secondary schools in the Tunbridge Wells area. The school has been extended and modernized to offer further school places to the local community. The expansion includes a new a three-storey satellite facility that houses general teaching classrooms, ICT and food technology spaces, and a five-court sports hall. What used to be the site of the Cannon Brewery, dating back to the 1670s, and the home of London’s largest brewery, is now a modular arrangement of 198 apartments with a selection of one, two and three bedroom flats and five town houses built around a landscaped courtyard. The project was designed by architects Hamilton Associates and completed in 2022.Literally a stone’s throw from our Studio in Clerkenwell, London, this was a remediation project, where the existing timber was removed and replaced with our BalcaSmart Aluminium system, in order to make sure the building complied with new fire regulations. The rear of the building also features our TerraSmart Pedestal system.Our aluminium decking system is non-combustible, achieves Euroclass A2-s1,d0 to EN 13501-1:2018, is ideal for all steel, bolt-on and cantilever balconies, and most importantly ensures the safety of all residents. This is what futureproofing is all about.

In May 2017, the Main Building which housed the lounge, dining, reception area, and the Taphuis Bar, was gutted in a fire. Only the walls were left standing and all of its contents were destroyed. Because of the historic significance of the building, the project team needed to move through a strenuous process of permissions and approvals to start the rebuild. Part of the brief, was to ensure that as far as possible, original materials would be used, that would reflect the previous look and feel, making the sourcing and availability of crucial importance. This building in particular, dates back to the early 1700's and finding timber for the roof structure was a challenge. They decided to use Spruce.The biggest drawback of using Spruce is that it is a very light and pale coloured timber. To achieve the aged look and feel of the original timber, they used Rubio Monocoat's Pre-Color Easy and Hybrid Wood Protector.

SMET NHL 3.5 binder was specially selected for the restoration works in Dechomet Cemetry, Moneyslane.  Rainey Restoration Ltd used our superior-quality pure Natural Hydraulic Lime binder SMET NHL 3.5 to produce a superior-quality lime mortar. The selective hydraulic strength development of NHL binders makes them particularly suitable for producing lime mortars for masonry work, rendering, and plastering on historical buildings and monuments.NHL binders, available directly from SMET and online or in-store via our distribution partner Haldane Fisher, are particularly suited for ecological new builds, conservation, restoration, and preservation works. The products’ special composition allows mortars to breathe and permits constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment. This Restoration is another showcase of sympathetic historic building restoration, using superior-quality NHL products available from SMET.

.THE PROJECTA mixture of 1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments, the apartments come in all shapes and sizes: with courtyard or city views, private balconies or terraces.Stofix utilised mast climbers instead of traditional scaffolding which meant less manpower was required to keep project costs down.PROJECT CHALLENGESThe site is in the city centre, therefore, space was limited. Due to the fact Stofix was manufactured off-site meant that the limited space was not an issue for us. Our pre-fabricated brick slip cladding panels meant we could ensure product quality and consistency as well as making sure the project ran to schedule.Covid-19 caused numerous issues, from the availability of building materials to labour shortages. The Challenge To install an attractive retaining wall solution that complements the beautiful landscaping. Richmond Care Village in Evesham comprises of a 60-bed care home for nursing and dementia care, 46 assisted living suites and 61 independent living apartments. The development is designed within the Richmond Care Villages model of luxury retirement accommodation and includes facilities such as a bar, restaurants, library, wellness spa with pool and gym all set in beautifully landscaped grounds. This luxury retirement village needed a retaining wall with considerable aesthetic appeal. The landscape design was carefully formulated to make a major commitment to the restoration and conservation of the landscape on the original Wood Norton estate. Groundworker R O’Donaghey was tasked with proposing a retention solution that could facilitate curves, corners, stepping down and railings. The project team had considered Gabion Baskets but decided that they would detract from the beautiful surrounding landscaping.
