The ChallengeCumbria County Council decided to invest in new, future-proof headquarters rather than invest a similar amount of money into refurbishing and maintaining its multiple existing sites.The project would allow the Council to downsize its office portfolio from 22 locations in and around the city to just two.Housing 700 staff, the new £10.4 million development would reflect a major rejuvenation of the area, designed to be a major gateway into Carlisle city centre.The SolutionThe new building is laid out to house two functions. The first, a two-storey elevation, houses public, customer-facing activity, while the second contains private, open-plan work areas for 450 people, along with ‘hot desks’ for visitors.The building makes use of a range of sustainable technologies, such as photovoltaic solar panels, to improve the building’s efficiency.Forterra’s County Multi Smooth brick from its Butterley range complements the natural stone and glass also used in the building’s design.The BenefitsAs well as saving Cumbria County Council money, Cumbria House brings a wide range of benefits, including improved working conditions for staff. Chief Executive, Diane Wood, commented “The new offices will provide a fantastic working environment for staff. It will support our ‘one team’ ethos with everybody working together in one building. Cumbria House is a much more environmentally-friendly building and, importantly, it’s better for our customers in Carlisle because they can now access all our services from one place”.
Grade II Listed Building - Neath, 8 Wind Street

In November 2020, we were contacted to schedule a meeting regarding the renovation of the former registry office at 8 Wind Street, Neath.For the radiator specifications, we decided on our Compacts and LST Ultra radiators in our standard white (RAL 9016) for the extension room facilities, whilst our traditional Windsor Column radiators and associated feet were all customised to a rough textured anthracite colour (RAL 7016) for the main offices, corridors, and conference rooms. These choices were in line with the building’s style. We also provided the necessary white and anthracite Angled TRV & Lockshields, as well as the LST ACVK3 Direct TRV Valve Packs to complement the radiators. The local authority accepted our proposal, and with that in December 2020, we supplied our initial quotation for the project.In March 2021, after the construction work inside the building was completed. A site survey was then conducted to ensure that the chosen radiators would fit properly in their designated positions. Following the site survey, a direct purchase order was placed.The installation commenced in May 2021. To assist, we ordered a sample of a White Windsor Column and Associated Feet to serve as a template for the pipework levels.By late May 2021, the specially ordered Windsor Columns and Associated Feet arrived at our Southam Distribution Centre. This allowed Allied Mechanical Engineering to proceed with their installation plan.Between June and July 2021, three batches of radiators were delivered to 8 Wind Street, Neath, and the installations on each floor were completed.
3 GLASS WHARF, TEMPLE QUARTER - BRISTOL
Metalline Architectural Fabrications
The new build £75m project is part of the regeneration of the Temple Quarter enterprise zone in the city and includes a new office development at 3 Glass Wharf. The office building which will be occupied by HMRC, features a shimmering external envelope with an amalgamation of glazed units and rainscreen panels finished in a palette of champagne and sea foam green. The result is an external facade that creates a symmetry with both the surrounding buildings and its proximity to the riverside area. Metalline supplied and manufactured over 3000m2 of bespoke aluminium rainscreen panels which included large 4.0metre x 2.0metre panels featuring a 3D effect diagonal crease across each panel to enhance the light and shaded appearance of the façade. Each of these panels were finished and delivered in batch quantity to ensure continuity of colour. Working closely with Darling Associates and Glassolutions, Metalline produced a special bespoke support bracket to accommodate the 3D effect panels. These were pre-assembled in factory-controlled conditions to shorten installation time on site. Metalline also supplied a range of aluminium interlocking soffits in varying lengths and widths that create an eye-catching feature to each of the 8 storey balconies. Metalline has continued to invest in state-of-the-art machinery and has led the industry with having capacity to process material of up to 6.0metres, this includes a custom made 6.5metre vacuum bonding tent press, 6.0metre press brake and router beds. This investment has given Metalline the ability to offer solutions for designers and architects that previously were not available.

The institute's new home houses offices, laboratories, clean rooms, workshops, a library, a daycare center and even a nine-meter-high balloon hall. Due to the heavy technology in the balloon hall, the bonded screed was required to have a guaranteed quality of CT-C50-F6. With RETANOL® XTREME, the company Bodentechnik Funk from Lohmen not only exceeded all expectations in terms of early strength, quick readiness for covering and final strength: the installed RETANOL® XTREME even achieved CT-C50-F8 and surface adhesion measurements showed values of 3.4–4.2 N/ mm².
Battersea Power Station, London

Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most iconic buildings and remains one of the city’s best known landmarks.
A vibrant new community is being created offering the best retail, office, leisure and green space plus unique homes designed by internationally renowned architects, Foster + Partners and Gehry Partners.
Working with Maylim, the Buzon pedestal systems have been specified for a multitude of areas across this 39-acre site, for use with timber decking, planter units, seating units, paving and grating.
This project is still ongoing and Buzon UK are excited to be involved in such a large redevelopment.

Clarendon Road is a mixed-use building located in London. It’s a beautiful and sustainable design being provided for Londoners by the end of 2024. The building has 150,000 square feet of office space, a gymnasium and 168 homes. At Helmsman, we had the pleasure of manufacturing and installing bespoke laminate lockers and bench seating for a wet environment. Bespoke laminate lockers were completed with vinyl numbers and camlocks. Shortly after the installation, our clients requested for after-sales service to replace the existing camlocks with Lowe & Fletcher Nimbus locks. Nimbus locks are an excellent choice for an upgrade, offering enhanced security.

Roché are proud to be a specified supplier for Transport for London (TfL).Our shutters are installed throughout the TfL underground and overground network, including the much-anticipated, state-of-the-art Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) project.By collaborating with Walker Construction, amongst others, on various TfL projects, we are playing our part in keeping the capital moving and improving the vital transport infrastructure.Roché’s aluminium and steel shutters are installed on station entrances, ticket offices and kiosks (including Krispy Kreme and Lola’s Cupcakes). Our fire-rated shutters are keeping people safe, whilst security-rated shutters are protecting property.

Joining Westpac in the International Towers, Swiss RE occupies Level 36 of Tower Two.
After successful collaboration on the LendLease office fit-out in Tower Three, SAS International worked again with architects Hassell Studio Sydney.
After providing drawing support, SAS330 was specified with a special 250mm knife-edge perimeter profile for homogeneous integration with the base build.
SAS200 with central recessed lighting, and linear SAS740, has been installed in the lift lobbies, circulation areas and meeting rooms.
The building was awarded a 6 Star Green Star rating, the highest rating attainable.

Working with a design concept from FKM architects, SAS International developed a hybrid ceiling based on their existing SAS500 offering. This tailor-made system was formed to incorporate the intricate design pattern while maintaining the systems stability.
The perforated baffles installed in LogMeIn incorporate an acoustic backing pad and are finished in a Calm White shade. Chosen for its superb acoustic properties, this bespoke baffle solution offers an eye-catching and unique ceiling.
The bespoke linear system is a unique feature of the office and lends itself to SAS’ design and manufacturing capability to take on complex and challenging designs.

The rigour and texture of the technical Trust porcelain stoneware characterise the look of the important business park HK-Østjylland in Brabrand (Denmark).The structure houses a number of offices where improved business operations are supported by cutting-edge architectural choices. Trust, in the 45x90 cm format and Titanium colour, perfectly meets the structure’s high quality and functionality requirements: Atlas Concorde’s modern ceramic technologies guarantee high performances also in a commercial context. In addition, the original diagonal layout of the tiles highlights the rich details and the intense chromatic variegations of Trust, contributing to achieve an elegant and contemporary décor.

Using an eye-catching bronze and grey colour palette Washroom delivered stylish new washrooms and a striking new reception area as part of an extensive office refurbishment in Covent Garden.
The self-contained superloos all include Washroom's Concerto integrated duct panel system in grey high pressure laminate and are complete with its full height Alto toilet cubicle doors in a high gloss grey laminate with bronze ironmongery. The Alto toilet cubicle’s rebated flush system and matching pilasters creates an attractive, virtually seamless façade for a high specification look and feel.
Stannah passenger/goods lifts remaster access and goods movement in massive regeneration of EMI’s The Old Vinyl Factory
Stannah Lifts
A triplex of customised Stannah lifts are delivering vital office access and goods movement in the Record Store, an Art Deco, former record-pressing factory and part of the £250m regeneration of The Old Vinyl Factory, erstwhile home of record label EMI, in West London.
The triplex operates in wall-mounted shafts in the spacious lift lobby, an integral part of the compact, central core. Their design supports an efficient blueprint, also minimising the structural impact on the building.
This core also doubles as a fire-fighting shaft, comprising a firefighting stair, mechanically ventilated firefighting lobby and a firefighting lift.
2-6 Cannon Street, London

2-6 Cannon Street is a high-end new build commercial office building located in the City.
This new-build includes an unusual shaped roof which has been designed to create a stunning exterior roof terrace. Buzon UK were commissioned to supply and install the DPH pedestal system to support GRAD decking and rail systems.
This was a challenging project as steel planters were located in the middle of the roof terrace so the installation of the adjustable support pedestals had to be carried out around the planters. Timber decked steps and ramps were also part of the terrace design.
Station Square Parade, Colchester

Station Square Parade, located next to Colchester North Station is undergoing a substantial conversion from a large office building to 67 one and two bedroom apartments set around a terraced courtyard.
Buzon UK have been commissioned to supply and install the DPH pedestal system to support 20mm Rucker Rowe porcelain paving to create an external courtyard and private balconies for many of the apartments.
The DPH pedestal system offers excellent water control for raised external floors as the system allows for simple, fast removal of rainwater via access cavity and is fully adjustable from 17 to 1070mm.

Broadband experts have taken accessibility at their Hull HQ to the next level.
Cibes Lift UK has installed an A5000 platform lift at KCOM’s head office to allow for disabled access.
Lauren Haysom, regional property coordinator at KCOM, says she wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cibes to those looking to improve accessibility for staff and visitors.
She said: “As a company we know it is vitally important that we meet all our employees’ access needs as well as fully complying with regulations surrounding disabled access and Cibes has enabled us to meet those requirements."
Forza fire doors and screens suited with Forza veneer panels at Royalty House, Watford

Specialist commercial refurbishment company Saracen Interiors delivers four floors of stunning Grade A office accommodation in the heart of Watford’s Met Quarter. Early discussion with Forza regarding project floor plans and elevations enabled the Forza team to prepare veneer layons that fully utilised the potential of the species distinctive decorative features and then create panel layout drawings in order that product delivered to site was clearly sequentially numbered for installation.
Incorporated in the project joinery component package for Forza were items such as skirting and lift surrounds in addition to mirror frames and IPS panels for “Boutique” style washrooms.
Keele University - reviving a landmark building with our flush tilt and turn windows

Profile 22 has supplied its state-of-the-art Flush Tilt and Turn solution to help transform a vacant building in Staffordshire into luxury student accommodation. Keele House, a former Tax Office, had stood empty for many years. Given its close proximity to Keele University, the building is ideally located for student accommodation.
To ensure warmth, safety, ease-of-use and pleasing aesthetics, Profile 22’s new Flush Tilt-Turn PVC-U windows were fitted in all 160 apartments – a total of 180 frames.

A vibrant new community is being created at Battersea Power Station offering the best retail, office, leisure and green space plus unique homes.
Working with Maylim, the Outdoor Deck Company were specified for a multitude of areas across this 39-acre site, including the supply and installation of Cedar privacy screening for all apartments on the podium level plus a large Iroko deck area alongside the retail outlets. The Outdoor Deck Company were also responsible for the supply and install of timber seating in the specially designed communal areas and Cumaru seating, planters and a bespoke pergola on Level 8.
Elsley House, Elsley Court

Elsley House is a 66,900 sq. ft. contemporary office building comprising of seven floors, located just off London’s Oxford Circus. The property was originally constructed in the 1930s for the garment industry and was refurbished in 2009.
The building required a high quality washroom that could withstand the high traffic environment, whilst complementing the art deco design of the original building and its contemporary interior. Dolphin Solutions supported Burwell Deakins Architects and Stevens Services West End to create a very functional, outstanding washroom. Bevan Hancock, Project Manager at Elev8 was an excellent support throughout the project.

Described as a ‘game-changer’ for west London, 245 Hammersmith Road is a stunning 11-floor, commercial office building which comprises 242,000 sq. ft of flexible, collaborative space to inspire and connect its occupants.
When it came to managing the riser zone, developer Lendlease turned to Ambar Kelly’s innovative RiserSafe® system to create a secure construction environment that would keep subcontracting teams safe whilst work was being completed.
Ambar Kelly has built a strong working relationship with Lendlease and has collaborated with the contractor on other projects including IQL Stratford.

Delivering elegance, functionality and improving the building’s use of natural daylight – whilst also guaranteeing smooth and reliable access – the sophisticated dormakaba KTV Atrium Glass revolving door proved ideal for George House, Glasgow's office block.
Acting as an effective environmental barrier between the internal and external environments, the dormakaba KTV revolving door limits warm air loss and cold air intake, helping to reduce the building’s energy consumption and subsequent expense.
The KTV ATRIUM revolving door systems are ideal for installation in entrance areas where effective environment control and elegant aesthetics are desired.

As part of the project all the Alto toilet cubicle doors and partitions at this Mayfair office were wrapped using innovative architectural film in a dark slate grey textured ash veneer finish - provided as part of Washroom's Refresh Service. As well as being environmentally-friendly and quick to install, architectural film is also extremely hardwearing and durable so will further prolong the lifecycle of the toilet cubicles.
The sleek dark wood veneer finish is just one of more than one thousand different architectural films available to choose from including wood, metal, marble, leather and stone.

Washroom delivered new washroom areas on all levels of this refurbished office building - drawing on a range of high-tech man-made materials including lightweight cast concrete to create a unique, contemporary space which hints at the industrial history of the building.
Its full height Alto FENIX toilet cubicles were specified in a crisp white colour to contrast with the grey and stone coloured concrete vanities. FENIX is manufactured in Italy by Arpa Industriale using the latest nano-technology to create a highly durable, tough acrylic resin surface with a host of high-performance properties.

Modern, light, open, inviting – this is the new look of the office rooms at Warren Wixen Real Estate in Los Angeles. The same applies to the solution developed by architects HLW International LLP in cooperation with Pulp Studio. Glass from floor to ceiling – not only a functionally convincing approach but also a concept with a high degree of aesthetic appeal. Pulp Studio's recommendation of using the Interzum award-winning HAWA Puro 100–150 hardware for all-glass sliding doors defined the perfect solution. Concealed suspension made it possible to achieve the ideal of "glass from floor to ceiling".
M-Tray® Green Roof super fast installation

This project involved a high-rise office being refurbished. Being in the Central London and nearing completion meant a busy site.
Ultra fast and mess-free installation was essential.
M-Tray®’s were delivered to site on pallets and quickly unloaded.
The M-Tray®’s stackable design meant it was easy to transport through the (finished) building and elevator. The individual trays were then carried up the final flight of stairs to the rooftop.
As the trays simply clip together they are quick and easy to install. In just 4 hours a the roof space was transformed into a green roof.

Over 250 litres of Johnstone’s Professional Gloss combined with 37 used shipping containers have helped to create a unique three-storey complex of fully-equipped office space in the North East. Ideal for use on metal surfaces, Johnstone’s Professional Gloss was used to paint the exterior of the containers to give a durable, high
gloss finish. Other products from Johnstone’s extensive range were also used, with Johnstone’s Vinyl Soft Sheen and Johnstone’s Covaplus Vinyl Matt emulsion, both of which are part of Johnstone’s Ecological Solutions range, applied to the interior walls and ceilings.

Products from Johnstone’s Trade’s portfolio have created a lasting impression on patients at a state-of-the-art, 24-bed dementia unit in Sunderland. Helping a Gateshead-based decorating contractor win a prestigious Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Award.
Thousands of litres of Johnstone’s Covaplus Vinyl Matt, Premium Contract Matt and Acrylic Eggshell were used throughout the unit by the decorators during a tight four-month timescale. The paint was used on corridors, offices, washrooms, stairwells, lounges, dining areas and doors throughout the unit, all of which now boast bold, fresh looks.

M Moser Associates, together with their joinery and solid surface manufacturer Interior Surface Specialists Ltd completed the interior fit our of Wipro Digitals new office in London in 2016.
The designer wanted clean lines and a fresh, streamlined look, which mirrored the companies highly creative, digital edge. They originally chose a high pressure laminate, but finally decided on KYDEX® thermoplastic as a more versatile and durable proposition. The combination of crisp white KYDEX® and quality birch plywood edge detailing provided a minimal yet sophisticated look for all of the purpose made workstations.

Squire and Partners were looking for instant boiling and chilled filtered water system a mixer tap to dispense hot and cold water. Across all floors, they have selected our popular plus systems, combining boiling and chilled filtered water through the XL lever dispenser in Matt Black and hot and cold water from a Gooseneck Sink Mixer Tap in matching finish. For some of their teapoints, they chose our Quadra 4100 with XL lever dispenser in Matt Black to cater for a larger office and our Quadra Sparkling with XL lever dispenser in Matt Black.
