CBRE wanted to replace their existing automatic doors at the front and rear of their newly refurbished building with stylish doors which are safe, reliable and ensured effortless pedestrian flow. Two record K41 stainless steel four-leaf revolving doors constructed from glass to provide a modern, minimalistic look were installed. A stainless steel swing door complete with a record DFA 127 operator has also been installed next to revolving door at the main entrance to provide a wider opening for disabled access and deliveries of large, bulky items to the premises.

Yeoman Shield HessianEx wall panels at 1250mm high and 50x50mm Corner Protection Angles in Lilac was fitted on the ground & 1st floor corridors and plaza area. HessianEx panels, cut to 300mm wide was fitted as an attractive protection strip in waiting areas, to protect against chairs being pushed up against walls and causing marks and scuffs.

Following a refurbishment for the hospitals operating theatres, Dortek were asked to replace existing timber doors with a more functional and hygienic alternative. Dortek installed our specialist hermetic sliding doors with automations for easy access. The doors have a unique hermetically sealing gasket system which gives them a 99% air tight seal. After installing the doors the hospital were able to reduce the volume of clean air fed into the theatres by over 20%. Dortek doors have a smooth, void free surface which prevents them from harbouring bacteria and makes them easy to clean for flawless hygiene and infection control.

record uk has installed 5 STA 20 sliding doors at the front and rear entrances, which are ideally suited to handle the large volume of traffic the hospital receives. These doors have been customised with aluminium frames manufactured in blue polyester powder coat, to complement the look and style of this modern building. There are also 40 DFA 127 swing operators fitted throughout the hospital to enhance new or existing doors quickly and economically. On other entrances/corridors within the hospital where space is limited so excludes the use of sliding doors, record FTA 20 folding doors can be found.

External factors adversely impact many projects and never more so than this primary school redevelopment, delayed first by the discovery of Iron Age and Roman remains on the proposed site that necessitated a full investigation. Then Covid struck, causing global upheaval.We worked with the contractor’s project team to produce a flexible schedule for the doors, which resulted in a smooth delivery of doorsets.These boasted a variety of safety and performance features, in a mix of styles and sizes such as NFR, FD30 and FD30S, oversize doors, double swing doors, doors with/without vision panels and with/without acoustic properties of up to 35dB. Finger guards were supplied on some doors.

To meet the client’s requirements of wanting sliding doorsets rather than pivoting doors on the meeting rooms, Komfort’s Sonik Slide doors were installed. This project gave us the opportunity to use Sonik Slide as our new acoustic pocket double glazed sliding door, which can be specified as a single or double door set within its own unique frameless glass. On this project, Sonik Slide double door sets were specified and installed. Sonik Slide has been designed to focus on ease of installation and to allow light to flood through the workplace whilst ensuring high acoustic performance is maintained.

Supplied and Manufactured by SB Joinery, Accoya was chosen for the windows, doors and French doors for these luxury apartments in St Johns wood. Coated using Teknos, Accoya was selected for the project due to its durability and stability. Accoya wood windows and doors are guaranteed to last for 50 years. Accoya was also chosen because it’s the ideal wood for the production of bespoke, classic or contemporary wooden windows and doors. Thanks to simple ease of use, tailoring the shape and finish of bespoke joinery is efficient and reliable.

A project driven primarily by design, Dorplan manufactured and supplied over 200 bespoke doorsets in extremely aesthetic finishes. The doors were veneered in diagonal stitching designs and the full doorsets were stained in ebony. Door types ranged from double security PAS24 type apartment entrance doors through to oversized sliding pocket door systems. We contributed heavily on the design and technical aspects of this project, giving our expert advice to ensure the client’s needs were fully met.

The company required upgraded door systems at their processing facility in Stornoway. Dortek supplied Novosprint high speed doors and Metaflex sliding chiller doors to facilitate the segregation of production areas for hygiene and temperature control. The short opening and closing times of the Novosprint door which has speeds of up to 5 m/s, was used to help improve hygiene and operational efficiency, prevent unnecessary heat loss, and significantly reduce energy costs. The Metaflex sliding chillers doors were specified due to their airtight seal which eliminates draughts or leakage. The door also has a hygienic finish for food safe environments and automatic operation for easy access.

The high-performing FirePro fire rated system — fully developed by Radii’s in-house product development Centre for Excellence — was a key feature in the fit-out for global asset managers Blackstone in London’s Berkeley Square.Working on Level 3 of the building, fire rated solutions comprised FirePro Ei30 glazed fire screens, five FirePro Ei30 single doors and double door sets respectively, and three Firepro Ei60 double door sets. Fire doors were installed with power-assisted openers.Furthermore, our high acoustic performance Linear 50 Plus single glazed partitions (up to Rw 41 dB) and a single glazed Hogan lobby double door set with access control completed the glazed partition package.

D Fender and a Special Pattress Duo Fender along with HD100(H) High Vis Heavy Duty Corner Protection were installed in the van delivery and collection loading bay.

This record THERMCORD sliding door provides thermal insulation helping maintain an even temperature in the facility. This installation was fitted with a push pad for entry and safety beam radar activation presence sensors to detect traffic from either side of the door. The system was also fitted with battery back up to ensure safe door opening in the event of power failure. 

A stylish, modern residential tower block in the heart of Canary WharfThis project is part of a redevelopment that includes 3 towers and is due to be fully completed in 2028. The tallest tower, Hampton Tower, is 214.5m and 68 stories high. Originally, it was considered too tall for the area and thus it was reduced to the current 68 floors. The building is situated just south of Canary Wharf with excellent access to travel with Canary Wharf and Elizabeth Line underground stations both within a 5 minute walk.The development will provide 1,338 residential apartments along with 6000 sq metres of new outdoor public space including café’s and restaurants. Architect: Scenario Architecture. This beautiful Victorian villa received an innovative green-roofed extension full of natural light thanks to IDSystems installed bifold doors, gable end glazing, rooflights, window and door. The challenge for Scenario Architecture was to design an extension that was filled full of natural light, took into account the changing floor levels of the property. Under the pitched roof, the gable end glazing has been designed to perfectly match the profiles of the SUNFLEX SF75 bifold doors, whilst the inclusion of a single access door allows the extension to angle away to create a larger kitchen/dining area.

Komfort's “new addition” to their existing Sonik framed door offering, a 70mm picture framed single glazed framed doors was chosen as a balance between performance and appearance. This creaed the appearance of a traditional steel framed system with slender sections. This was achieved with the use of our Kross Glaze bars, which were applied to both sides of the doors. Kross Glaze provides a design response to the recent trend of industrial style glazing and is becoming ever more popular within residential and commercial interiors. The use of Sonik Doors also enabled stringent acoustic performance requirements to be met.

Our experienced team co-ordinated all requirements for each door working closely with MCM and both door manufacturers throughout the design and construction process. Albion Way, Brent is a stunning new 15-floor accommodation building for 245 students on behalf of Watkin Jones. Dorplan supplied a total of 484 doors with ironmongery using our exclusive ‘Expa-fit’ system which reduces fitting time by around 30% per door.Most of the doors, in a beautiful crown-cut oak veneer, were bedroom entrance doors. These needed to be specially recessed to accommodate access control locks, for which Dorplan worked alongside access control company TLJ. Also part of the project were fire compartment corridor doors and doors for the ground-floor communal area. All doors were matched to meet the design brief and were delivered in phases over 6 months.This project is the latest in a series of buildings Dorplan has supplied for Watkin Jones and we are looking forward to our next project with them, a new student accommodation building in Wilder Street, Bristol.Watkin Jones project manager, Elliott Robinson, said: “Rob and the team at Dorplan have been great to deal with from start to finish. Irene House in Balham was a 1940s office block, formerly occupied by the DWP, converted to offer 77 1/2-bedroomed apartments, with a roof extension to create an additional 7 homes. Amenities including a residents’ club house with private dining and work space facilities were included.The project delivered a distinctive transformation, offering contemporary looks that also incorporated many art deco elements inspired by the building’s original interior.Dorplan supplied more than 400 factory-finished doors, delivered in 5 phases to support project schedules across the 6 floors of the building. The doors had a range of features in keeping with the ‘contemporary art deco’ look. Ladder-style feature grooves and square architraves were complemented by period-style ironmongery to give an incredibly stylish result.The majority of the doors were FD30 or FD60 fire and smoke doors. The fire-rated PAS24/SBD apartment entrance doors were additionally acoustic-rated. All Dorplan’s fire and security doors come with the peace of mind offered by 3rd-party certification.

Profab Access rises to the top at Aungier Street Student AccommodationSituated in the heart of Dublin just a short walk or cycle from Trinity College, Royal College of Surgeons Ireland and University College Dublin, Scape Aungier Street is a new state-of-the-art student accommodation complex.Offering a diverse range of high quality accommodation options, from en suite rooms in shared apartments, through to large and premium studios, the latest Scape development features communal study spaces, large open plan kitchens and gym areas to offer students all of the amenities they require.As part of the construction process, which was managed by John Paul Construction, 226 Profab Access 4000 Series Riser Doors were specified for installation by AE Doors throughout every part of the building, including the communal areas and individual bedrooms.The 4000 Series Riser Doors offer the highest standards of fire safety, supplied with comprehensive CERTIFIRE bi-directional certification from third party accredited testing, Warrington Fire.This means the riser doors are fire tested from both sides to two hours, providing the specifiers, contractors and ultimately the students residing within the building with confidence the critical fire integrity products offer the highest standard and most up to date evidence for fire safety performance.The 4000 Series is the only riser door in the UK to be independently bi-directionally fire tested and certified by an accredited third party to ensure legal compliance.The steel riser doors feature a slimline construction that doesn’t compromise on quality or functionality, offering aesthetics without compromise. The Heineken brewery at Tadcaster has a 38 million litre capacity and is one of the largest in the country.The Heineken brewery produces more than 90% of the beers sold in the UK, and around 30% of the nation’s apples go into their ciders. The company required upgraded door systems at their processing facility in Tadcaster. Dortek supplied large Novosprint high speed doors between storage and production areas. The short opening and closing speeds of the Novosprint doors which have speeds of up to 5 m/s were ideal for this client who wanted fast, collision free access. The doors were also equipped with radar activation sensors, two photocells and traffic light control for safe and trouble-free operation. The safety sensors prevent the risk of accidents and drastically reduce any damage to the goods or the transport vehicles using the doors.

For the revolving doors’, INTRAform Entrance Matting with rubber inserts was selected. Rubber inserts are highly effective at wiping away large dirt particles and moisture, while the entrance mat fibre inserts in the matting beyond ensure any remaining moisture does not track through to the flooring beyond.For the pass doors, side doors, and main entrance lobby (beyond the revolving doors) INTRAform DM Entrance Matting with INTRAlux linear was specified. This combination of recessed aluminium matting with ribbed fibre inserts is a cost-effective solution that provides excellent secondary moisture absorption whilst also echoing the sculptural design aesthetic of the reception space.

Planet used p100 demountable double-glazed screens for all the classroom frontages and set black laminated timber classroom doors, and for the offices, 30-minuet fire-rated glass doors into our white aluminium slimline door frames. P20 single-glazed demountable partitioning features in the library and sixth form, which includes a gap between each panel of glass, an aesthetic feature to complement the internal atrium glazing. Eclipse sliding doors were used throughout. Planet's Architectural Glass' in-house design team worked with Aedas to make sure the angled atrium glass was in line with the design intent.

Shelforce, a leading window and door manufacturer based in Erdington has fabricated the Kestrel Aluminium windows and doors for Birmingham City Council’s first ever modular home.

Radii designed, manufactured and installed solutions for 71 offices and meeting rooms across Baker Botts’ new 27,000 sq ft space.The standout contribution to this project was the installation of stunning curved glazed screens for the executive meeting rooms. Using a Parallel 50 double glazed system with angled façade abutments, the luxurious design was accompanied with acoustic blank 64mm veneered timber doors, achieving 40dB Rw, and flush bonded Align glazed pivoting doors.Baker Botts’ office fronts comprised of Linear 59 single glazed partitions with adjoining Radii Glide sliding doors and bespoke drywall endcaps. Concealed deflection heads helped to create a flush look with clean lines, while a special bronze finish — applied to the metalwork at Radii’s dedicated in-house powder coating line — complemented the colour palette throughout the space.For small-to-medium size meeting rooms Linear 30 and Linear 64 single glazing, both offering 41dB Rw, were used alongside Parallel 50  fins, Glide glazed sliding doors and Align pivoting doors. All meeting rooms for Baker Botts were installed with retro-fit room booking, facilitated with cable routes provided down the door legs.Finally, Linear 25 single glazed partitioning was placed alongside single glazed Hogan door sets with access controls in Baker Botts’ lift lobby.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home was established in 1860 by Mary Tealby as the Temporary Home for Lost and Starving Dogs. Since it opened, the charity has cared for more than 3.1 million dogs and cats. To increase capacity at their old Windsor site BDCH are adding a new wing.The animal charity required specialist doors for a new intake building which includes 27 kennels and 4 maternity kennels.Dortek supplied hygienic hinged doors with Stainless Steel frames throughout the new building. Some doors also had automations and access control locks for ease of access and increased security. Fire doors with 30 minutes certification were also supplied for the protection of animals and staff throughout the facility.The GRP construction of Dortek doors makes them easy to clean, waterproof and extremely robust. They are ideally suited to animal care facilities requiring a low maintenance design.

Ahmarra Door Solutions manufactured over 200 fire doors for the Pears Building, which is situated next to the Royal Free Hospital in London.The FD30 and FD60 doorsets incorporated Halspan Optima door blanks.The Pears Building will accommodate the UCL Institute of Immunity and Transplantation. This is a state-of-the-art medical research centre which will advance the understanding of diseases such as cancer, diabetes, HIV, and tuberculosis, and for traditional and tissue-developed transplants.Designed by Hopkins Architects and constructed under main contractor, Willmott Dixon, the building’s seven-storey structure includes laboratory space, research facilities, offices and two levels of patient accommodation, which will enable people undergoing clinical trials to rest and recover there.Designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent, sustainability was at the heart of the building’s creation. Moralt Laminesse FireSmoke door blanks were supplied through James Latham in Thurrock to timber engineering specialists David Smith in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire for a new 474 door school project in Carshalton. Moralt‘s Laminesse laminated timber core door blanks were chosen for the project on account of their lighter weight yet solid timber construction. This product suits the higher-traffic school environment extremely well.
