Installed by WD Group for main contractors RG Carter, the curtain walling was an integral part of architects Stride Treglown’s vision for the landmark structure, which also features a flying roof. It features AluK’s SL52 flexible capped curtain walling system throughout, with an entrance door fabricated using the suited GT55TB door system. The diagonal design and irregular angles meant that AluK had to create a solution with multiple transom and mullion sections which was cost effective, while still being true to the aesthetic and meeting the static considerations and performance requirements laid out.

A Grade II listed Royal George building in Knutsford was sympathetically restored to create a stunning dining venue for the Loch Fyne brand.
During the restoration project, contractor A&J Interiors specified 4 of Howe Green’s 5000 Series floor access covers.
The covers were required to provide an unobtrusive access solution to cover the kitchen’s essential mains services whilst maintaining fast and easy access for maintenance or emergency repairs.
Blending seamlessly with the flooring the covers avoid distortion and prevent the risk of slips and trips – essential within a busy kitchen environment.

An expanding brand of modern eateries are enjoying the versatility of Technowood’s ability to adjust with this changing restaurant environment.An existing client since 2009 has enjoyed the qualities of TechnoWood cladding; for many of the chain restaurant facilities that it has in its portfolio.The client did say “a friend of mine laughed the other day when he said – you should have used Technowood instead of that solid wood.” He said this to the MD of Technowood… they then both laughed.The goal of the designer in charge of the group has created a serene social destination for local visitors. Our design motto being ‘’Design a Vision, Make an Impression, Create an Experience’’The Café element features 2 floors with the usable space spread over 827 square metres; the terrace flows from inside to out thus creating this multi-use space for all weathers.Vertical pilasters in varying forms, all designed and fabricated off site by technood to facilitate a rapid installation where labour is reduced. Cladding in the main is a simple click to install system. The Farmiloe Building, with its faded Victorian industrial charm, was last year’s venue for celebrating and awarding innovative design across the hospitality industry. This fascinating Grade II Listed building made an exciting venue for the 5th anniversary of the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. Attended by over 600 leading international architects, designers and operators, the architecture and engineering of the Farmiloe Building was complemented by five uniquely designed ‘Box Project’ spaces, each conceived by dedicated teams for the Awards, and where Breezefree’s 115sqm retractable canopy created a striking counterpart to Nicholas Alexander Creative Construction’s theatrical alfresco kitchen area.

Coopers FireMaster Concertina is a great way to offer compartmentation between areas like a kitchen and restaurant and able to divide up these two critical areas in a public building and act as a fire break.
By installing the FireMaster Concertina meant it would provide the building with an approved, non-invasive means of fire protection that would satisfy the fire regulations as well as ensuring that the open plan design remained as intended.
Compartmentation and Protected Means of Escape were required as part of the fire safety solutions.

When a blind company was tasked with replacing the electric blinds in a popular highstreet noodle restaurant chain in St Albans, they knew they could depend on Yewdale.
They chose YewdaleDefiant® C27 electric cassettes with five blinds in Light Grey 1% Roe fabric. They also specified a fascia that could cover the entire length with three blinds on one barrel, saving the installation of three individual cassettes in one, large window.

Fairfaced Concrete Panels Installation at Kiwa Restaurant

Spanning 5,195 sq ft over two floors, the newly opened Kiwa Sushi & Grill offers a taste of the western-eastern fusion within modern East Asian dining setting in the heart of London’s Chinatown.The Living Concrete team were tasked with manufacture and installation of 120m2 of Fairfaced concrete wall panels which were seamlessly cladded over large internal walls. The panels were manufactured using GRC concrete, which is lighter and stronger than traditional concrete and finished in Mist Grey to enhance natural weathered look.The finished effect is a modern, industrial look that complements client’s design style and creates a truly unique and trendy space.
Longleat Forest Centre Parcs SFS helped to develop a compliant specification for a subtropical swimming paradise and restaurant facilities

The Centre Parcs model for all UK locations focuses around a central area housing a subtropical swimming paradise and restaurant facilities. Keeping the central area open without impacting guests was key to this project. A tall order, achieved through meticulous and effective planning. Originally completed in 1994, the existing membrane and glazed rainscreen systems were in need of refurbishment. The brief was to remove the existing glazing and coverings, deck support frame re-modelling and install new insulated deck with simple large expanse blown ETFE roof-lights whilst maintaining unrestricted, safe guest access.Center Parcs and the consultant team were rigorous in their specification of fasteners and method of containing the chlorinated environment of the pool areas. SFS provided all fasteners for deck attachment. Specifically for the pool area this included the TDA-S, TDB-S and TDB, R5 (1.4547) grade stainless steel fasteners for the attachment of the deck and also RV6604-6-4W aluminium rivets for the deck stitching requirements.SFS helped to come up with suitable fastening systems that included R5 grade stainless (EN 1.4547) self tappers to fix the aluminium deck. These were manufactured by SFS, and supplied with certificates of conformity at the request of the client. Super austenitic R5 grade stainless steel fasteners were especially developed for chlorine rich swimming pool environments and are now specified by pool specialists. This is to offset the risk of chlorine induced stress corrosion cracking, a particular type of corrosion that can occur in such environments.

Monochromatic and crisp, with metallic and marble accents, the restaurant – which correspondingly functions as a showroom – is also warm and inviting. And every single item inside it is also for sale.

The ChallengeAn Italian restaurant in central London wanted its ceiling to be the heart of a new design that would be a visual interpretation of contemporary Italian taste.The SolutionDesigned by Andy Martin Architecture, the intricate ceiling was constructed using 32,155 bricks requiring 55 different dimensions to be cut by hand to create a smooth, curved surface.Forterra’s plain Fletton bricks were found to have the necessary smoothness and hardness to accommodate the amount of cutting required.The colour of the bricks was modified by washing with a lime slurry to achieve a soft, elegant but rustic surface.The BenefitsVisually striking, the sculptural ceiling adds to the dining experience.The project was shortlisted in the 2017 BDA Brick Awards in the Innovative Use of Brick and Clay Products category. Fucina was awarded Best London Restaurant and Best UK Restaurant at the 2017 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards.

Project detailsIconic London restaurant The Ivy has undergone a major renovation project that has taken five months to complete. This dramatic refurbishment was completed in time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the restaurant. Although dramatic, much of its original identity such as the trademark stained glass windows remains.The interior design team behind ‘The Ivy’ has previously worked on other restaurants in the same group including Scott’s, the J Sheekey Oyster Bar and Daphne’s in South Kensington.The restaurant has had a modern makeover, the bar has been relocated to the middle of the room and is surrounded by pink leather and mohair bar stools, in the main restaurant booths as well as private corner tables have replaced the original seating arrangement. It opened in Spring 2022 following a protracted planning process and delays.

The new Springs retail and leisure facility at Thorpe Park, Leeds, includes cinemas, shops, restaurants and a gym.Part of the development was to build a state-of-the-art gymnasium for PureGym.The acoustic consultants specified CDM Stravitec to design and build a dry damped floating floor as part of the shell and core to ensure that the gymnasium did not disturb the restaurants and shops located directly below.The Stravifloor Channel floating floor was to be installed within a tight four week deadline and this was successfully completed.
Reducing background noise within a golf centre, Surrey

Hoebridge Golf Centre is a busy commercial and leisure facility that has three golf courses, a function facility and a health club. Given the busy nature of the centre, it had become apparent to many golfers and patrons that the acoustic conditions within the bar and restaurant area needed improvement.Hush Acoustics was tasked by the golf centre’s owners to develop a solution to this major acoustic issue as it possible that revenue was being affected in the bar and restaurant because of poor acoustics. Some paying guests did not want to spend their time in these problematic and noisy areas so addressing the issue was crucial to the centre’s long term success. Hush carried out its extensive survey and to fulfil the client’s requirements to make the bar and restaurant areas a far more comfortable place to be. The acoustic problem at Hoebridge Golf Centre was caused by a high level of ambient, reverberation and echo noise within the bar and restaurant areas.The solution proposed by Hush was to install Hush Absorber 50 Sound Absorbing Panels within the bar and restaurant areas. Through a series of calculations based on the site survey data, the amount of absorption needed to treat the issues effectively could be established.Mike O’Connell, General Manager of Hoebridge Golf Centre was delighted with the panels. He mentioned how well they blended in and complemented the look and aesthetics of the room, and appreciated the minimalistic design with bold colours to give the room a sense of vibrancy. The client was particular happy with the quick and efficient installation by the Hush installation team. They arrived on site at 6:05am, discussed the installation with Mike and had completed the installation by 8am, meaning no disruption to customers during busy times.

British Land commissioned Adam Richards Architects to design a custom-built barge for a new London restaurant, The Cheese Barge. The floating restaurant creates a distinctive focal point and destination for Paddington Central and the wider area. The boat’s curving, sloping roof is clad externally in Traditional Textures Copper Patina Precoated Aluminium metal to replicate aged copper. On the underside of this roof, a copper colour is visible from inside the boat, creating a warm and convivial interior as it gathers the light reflected off the surface of the water.

The Tullamore Court Hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Ireland’s picturesque countryside. The 4* accommodation offers its patrons leisure facilities, rooms, a 20-metre swimming pool, a bistro, a bar and a restaurant, which was in desperate need of renovation. The hotel’s main restaurant hadn’t been updated since the late 90s, so interior design practice Helen Casey Design Associates (HCDA) was called upon to bring the space into the 21st Century. HCDA chose Gingham, a predefined colour and pattern combination from the Amtico Designers’ Choice Collection.

The M Bar and Grill Restaurant in Twickenham is the newest London location for entrepreneurial restaurateur Martin Williams and his rapidly-expanding M Restaurant group. Amtico provided the perfect choice to create a bespoke floor.
With a key emphasis on maintaining the elements of a traditional British pub, interior designer René Dekker was keen to replicate the style of an oak parquet style timber floor, while bringing it up-to-date with 21st Century technology. To achieve the required look, he chose four types of timber finish from Amtico’s Signature collection in an intricate Basket Weave design.
