Fircroft House in Essex has been completely transformed from a tired 1980s detached property into a distinctive home with a contemporary edge.Renovated throughout, Fircroft House features a new ground floor extension, pale grey timber-effect external cladding (replacing a brick and render façade), and brand new Rationel alu-clad windows and doors. In fact, sixteen new windows are installed across the property, including opening and fixed units, two large sliding patio doors, and a solid, grooved front door flanked by glazed side lights and set beneath an arched portico. When planning the refurbishment of Fircroft House, window and door replacement was a project priority, as the original property had single glazed, leaded, all-timber windows which made the interior very dark and were thermally inefficient. All-aluminium glazing was initially considered because the homeowners wanted an affordable, durable and contemporary frame design which looked more attractive than uPVC. Nestled in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands, over-looking the Shannon Blueway and River Shannon, Drumhierny is a unique development of high-end holiday lodges situated in a 100 acre woodland estate. This multi-unit project, consists of sixteen lodges, in four distinct architectural styles, each nestled within their own private area of woodland. The lodges have been designed, manufactured, and constructed to achieve an A-rated Building Energy Rating (BER). To help achieve a thermally efficient building envelope a number of products from Partel have been used.The buildings were constructed using an offsite fabricated Light Gauge Steel (LGS) frame. As part of the frame construction a number of Partel’s low carbon building envelope solutions were used. This included EXOPERM MONO 150, a high performing breather membrane, IZOPERM PLUS, a phA Class Passive House Certified vapour control layer; and CONEXO MULTISEAL, a phA Class Passive House Certified airtight tape.

This incredible design, that uses EQUITONE [natura], features hidden shutters to windows and Juliet balconies for the residents of this 10 story student accommodation to enjoy. The random opening of the shutters gives the building a new appearance daily, as the dark grey of EQUITONE [natura] in Anthracite [N251] works perfectly to maximise the effect of the exposed orange metal framing that lies beneath.

Part of the regeneration of Chatham Docks, Chatham Waters comprises of two blocks of 193 PRS apartments linked by a single-storey podium level.Y2206F Steel Bronze 1 and Steel Bronze 2 Y2217F applied to solid and perforated cladding panels, whilst YW387I Ordos Sable adorns both balconies and window frames and screens.

Based in the poplar region of the LondonBorough of Tower Hamlets, the Streamlight Tower is a 24-storey high-rise building comprising of 90 flats.Higgins Partnerships was appointed by Swan Housing toundertake reclad works to bring the building in line withmodern building regulations.For this installation ROCKWOOL Steel Frame Slab non-combustible stone wool was used.

The project involves the urbanization of a new space created within the framework of a major remodeling of the Banc Sabadell Headquarters. This area is influenced by both the new and existing buildings, which frame and delimit the new space to be designed. These buildings determine its relative scale and, based on their own programs, establish the flows of movement and the distribution of the various sub-areas.

In this case study, we take a look at the amazing project undertaken by Allium Landscapes, as they were tasked by their clients with converting a garden into a haven of safe play for their young children. The objective was clear: create a secure play area that encourages imaginative play without compromising on safety.To achieve this goal, Allium began researching to identify the most suitable safety surfacing option to install beneath a wooden climbing frame and slide. After detailed research and discussions with their clients, they arrived at the decision that a wet pour rubber surface would be the most suitable solution, blending safety and aesthetics seamlessly. This crucial step helps to ensure the stability and longevity of the play area.Next, SBR rubber was mixed with our rubber resin binder in a forced action mixer. This mixture was then laid and trowelled onto the prepared sub-base. The thickness of the SBR base determines the critical fall height rating of the rubber surface, so it is highly recommended that you plan carefully to ensure your new surface provides a suitable CFH rating for the play equipment it is under.Following this, the Reseda Green wet pour rubber was mixed together with our specialist rubber crumb resin binder in a forced action mixer. The skilled team then hand-trowelled this attractive 15mm top layer onto the SBR base, creating a seamless and resilient surface beneath the climbing frame and slide. The unique green colour adds an inviting touch to the garden.With the safety surface in place and fully cured, the installation of the climbing frame and slide followed. The team followed the manufacturer's instructions to ensure that all components were securely fastened and the frame was level, stable and firmly anchored to the floor using anchors in the rubber surface. These additional safety measures provided complete peace of mind to the clients, knowing that their children were not only protected by the rubber safety surface but also by a sturdy and securely anchored climbing frame.Project OutcomeThe transformation achieved in the client's garden is nothing short of astonishing. Their children now have a safe, durable and visually appealing play surface beneath a new wooden climbing frame and slide. With the wet pour rubber surface in place, the family can now enjoy the outdoors without worry, knowing that their children are shielded during their outdoor adventures. This iconic design is a treat for lovers of minimal design with exposed concrete and very monochrome colour palette. The new campus of the Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts is located only a few steps away from the Dansaertstraat designed by Architects B-Architecten, B-bis Architecten and B-city.The new campus hosts more than 1000 students. The 2 auditoriums, 40 subject classrooms, the teachers’ rooms, a study landscape, a library, a cafeteria and several sitting corners and terraces are now located in a trendy and lively city district.The building is a prominent and transparent construction with a heavy-set finishing touch. On the ground floor, the openness is transposed by a sunken and covered recreation ground. This big interior space is connected to the square in front of the building. Most public areas such as the students’ cafeteria, the library, the students’ administration office and several meeting areas border the recreation ground. The building opens up towards the square and the entire neighbourhood thanks to a full glass façade.

Nottingham College has recently completed the development of a new City Hub campus, in the heart of the city centre. The new £58.5m state-of-the-art hub provides fantastic new learning and community facilities to thousands of students.BackgroundThe City Hub stands as a beacon of excellence in student services across Nottingham. With an impressive six-storey structure, it teems with diverse facilities, from a performing arts centre to a science and early years provision. On top of this, the campus holds a 200-seat theatre, training restaurant, and social spaces. giving students a truly enriching experience while studying with them.ChallengeDue to the high number of students and staff entering and exiting the City Hub on a daily basis, the client was facedwith the challenge of finding a suitable solution to safely manage this. With limited space, it was crucial that a solution was found that would cater to the restricted area while maintaining the expected high-throughput.Solution Meesons met with the main contractor for Nottingham City Hub to gain a greater understanding of the requirements and review the available space. Following this, seven banks of EasyGate SG Speed Gates was proposed for the campus and chosen as the suitable solution.

Descending into a valley at Grace Farms in New Canaan Connecticut, The River consists of five volumes linked together by a single curving roof. SANAA designed the project with Handel Architects serving as the executive architect. Back in 2010, the picnic tables formed part of the club’s new development for a City Square entertainment zone, a vibrant and state-of-the-art fan experience which was a new concept in British football, located on Joe Mercer Way outside the City store. Thirty nine FalcoBloc benches were supplied along with another 20 robust FalcoSwing tables to form a seating and ‘perch’ arrangement at the Blue Moon Café.

12-screen Cineworld multiplex is a state-of-the-art immersive cinema with a 4DX screen that stimulates all five senses with special effects such as wind, water and smell. Siniat worked closely with project architects Chapman Taylor, main contractors Mace and drylining contractor Fireclad to develop a high-performance drylining system for this high-tech facility, providing expert advice throughout the eighteen-month build period.

In the heart of Manchester, a new 5-storey campus has been completed to provide additional facilities for higher and further education students in the Creative and Performing Arts sectors at The Manchester College. We were delighted to work alongside SimpsonHaugh, Bond Bryan Architects, Willmott Dixon and Longworth Building Services on this significant project, supplying several thousand square meters of Corium brick cladding to complete the contemporary facade.

The Wren Academy sponsored by the Diocese of London and situated in Friern Barnet North London, recently underwent large-scale regeneration.What started out as a refurbishment project, with some new build, soon became a new build academy, with some refurbishment. A total budget of 23 million was used to turn the Academy into a fine example of a 21st century school.Architects Penoyre & Prasad, already praised for their education projects with two RIBA awards, created a unique learning environment for the pupils, who are actively encourage to take ownership of the school. The new building section of the site includes a new entrance, teaching blocks, library and toilet facilities, for which GEC Anderson supplied three special feature wash troughs within the uni-sex toilets.The facilities area has kept with the open air feel in line with the rest of the new build. The anti-bullying concept of a light and airy space, without a door to main washroom area, also promotes maturity and responsibility.The wash troughs in the toilet area created a slight industrial, but professional and clean look. There also offer water saving advantages over a standard sink or basin configuration.Martin Tye, managing director of GEC, said “The academy is a great example of modern design and architecture and for our products to be specified is a great honour and achievement.”“The wash troughs were of particular significance, architecturally, as they were seen to provide the flow and contemporary design that is simply not available with alternative materials” added Martin.
