A modern and monolithic design that creates a striking visual contrast to the contemporary glass and steel architecture. The stone bench range has recently been expanded with three sizes now being offered in new finishes.The client, George Cox & Sons, have a mission to present a high quality finish on all their projects that provide essential transport links. Stockport Exchange is another excellent scheme added to their portfolio. The regeneration scheme has and continues to be a success for Stockport Council and is a benchmark for future renovations to the town centre. 

A stone's throw from St. Paul’s Cathedral, in 2018, 55 Gresham Street was remodelled from its late 20th-century origin into a modern office building that remains in keeping with its majestic surroundings.BCM GRC supplied Portland-coloured columns and spandrels to the development, in addition to the soffit panels which create a feature above the main entrance.

These have then been expertly fitted by the contractor.

One of the most modern hospitals in Germany has been in operation since the beginning of 2024: the new Helios HSK in Wiesbaden. Around 120,000 outpatients and 45,000 inpatients are treated here every year in 28 specialist clinics and institutes, with more than 2,400 employees working for the hospital.With an investment sum of 268 million euros, a new building complex with a longitudinal axis of 200 m and a depth of 100 m was erected directly next to the existing Helios Dr. Horst Schmidt Clinics, which can accommodate all the functions of a maximum care provider in high-performance medicine. The architecture and comb structure of the new building are aligned with the treatment processes and follow the principle of short distances: the departments are arranged in such a way that synergies are created and interdisciplinary cooperation is facilitated. The foyer, cafeteria, corridors and staircases of the building were designed to be functional and aesthetically pleasing at the same time using selected series of Villeroy & Boch tiles.The vilbostone ABERDEEN porcelain stoneware series create a purist atmosphere with a subtle natural touch in the open foyer, which is flooded with light thanks to large glass surfaces and furnished with light-colored wood, in the corridors and stairwells. Inspired by the silver-grey granite from the former quarries around the harbor town of the same name in north-east Scotland, the design of the tiles adapts the typical inclusions and gloss effects of the grey Aberdeen stones in high-quality ceramics. In the floor design, the 30 x 60 cm and 15 x 60 cm formats in the expressive, matt slate grey color are combined in a bond, creating an interesting, lively look in the surfaces. The floor covering is extremely robust and easy to clean and offers a high level of slip resistance with slip resistance R10/A. The stairwells are designed with special 30 x 120 cm stair tiles, the edges of which have contrasting colored edges and milled grooves for better visibility. In addition, in particularly sensitive areas such as the kitchen, tiles with slip resistance R12-V4 were laid, which, thanks to their special surface structure, enable safe standing and walking even with large amounts of liquids or grease. The ABERDEEN wall tile in light white pearl in 30 x 60 cm format was also laid in various sanitary areas. A lustre print finish creates interesting matt-gloss effects on the glazed stoneware tiles, which subtly imitate the character of granite and can be perceived to varying degrees depending on the incidence of light and point of view.In the cafeteria, whose interior design with the theme of “water” is reminiscent of Wiesbaden’s tradition as a spa town, floor areas with tiles from the historically inspired design concept CENTURY UNLIMITED catch the eye. The high-quality vilbostone porcelain stoneware combines a fine cotto cement look with decorations inspired by the Mettlach tiles from the 19th century. Attractive tile carpets have been created with decorative tiles in a successful contrast to the ABERDEEN surface in a consistent color: As a border, the cotto-colored Diamonds decor with classic diamonds creates a three-dimensional trompe l’œil effect. The main surface of the “carpet” is composed of the Circles decor, which uses ornaments in various coordinated shades of grey and beige as well as the expressive colors cotto and indigo to place the traditional patterns in a highly aesthetic, contemporary context.

The balconies at the Southsea development were targeted for an extensive overhaul, incorporating AliDeck’s Senior Board in Textured Silver Grey alongside the AliClad Flow soffit cladding system, complete with an Extended Gutter. Leading the project as the main contractor, McCarthy & Stone launched a significant six-phase renovation, with Amson Solutions delivering the installation across Phase 1 for our client, Cox Design.

Mapei adhesive and grout products have been specified for the installation of a stone pattern in the reception and washroom areas in a refurbishment to the Freemasons’ Hall, London. The Hall first opened in 1933 as a memorial to the 3,255 Freemasons who died during active service in the First World War, and has been used for events, the meeting place for the Grand Lodge, and annual meetings of the home counties since.

In the refined finishes and the elegance of the accessories, the design of the Luxury Design apartments located in the historic centre of Verona finds an informal dimension. Between the wooden elements and the natural stone details, the identity of the city's architecture comes to life. The choice of flooring respects these elements. The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, is one of the countries most valued heritage sites and contains many rare, unique and priceless artefacts.GEC Anderson stainless steel sinks and worktops were specified in a recent refurbishment of some of the Museum’s restoration and conservation rooms. Mica Architects included stainless steel worktops, sinks and tables from GEC Anderson’s Decimetric range. The Decimetric system offers a modular range of sizes (based on 100 millimetres = 1 decimetre) increments, providing cost effective solutions with a tremendous range of sizes and options. The range includes sinks, worktops and tables but also shelving, base cabinets, wall cabinets and tall cabinets.

St Cecilia’s Hall, today a part of the University of Edinburgh, has been thoughtfully redeveloped by Page Park Architects to create a more inclusive and user-friendly space. To provide the ancillary facilities needed in a modern-day museum, Page Park Architects created a new, modern entrance with improved and updated walkways and circulation areas. Drawing inspiration from the original dark-coloured flooring in the building, the architects specified Junckers’ 140mm wide Black Oak Harmony as flooring and wall panelling in the new areas. In addition, Junckers’ Dark Coco Rustic Oil was used to restore the rich, brown colour of the original wood flooring in the concert room and gallery spaces. 

In 2016, Reading Borough Council and the British Cycling invested over £350,000, in a joint funded scheme, into the Palmer Park Sports Stadium.This investment was set to fund the renovations to the Velodrome track fencing, lighting and other improvements to the cycle track in order to improve visitor experiences.After the restoration, Palmer Park’s velodrome track was officially reopened to the public on March 11th 2017 by the Mayor of Reading, Mohammed Ayub and representatives from the British Cycling.The BriefThe brief for this project was set out by the specific requirements both clients wanted for the Safety Velodrome Fencing.Increase the safety and security of the perimeter fencing around the track.Must be specified by the British Cycling adhering to appropriate standards.

The new Brookfield Business School 7-acre Campus brings together a sympathetically restored, 19th century mansion with a new three-storey three-gabled, copper clad extension and elliptical lecture theatre. Senior’s slim profile SF52 thermally enhanced curtain walling and SPW600 Windows were used throughout the extension to create a comfortable, light and airy environment. For the main entrances, Senior’s robust SPW501 Commercial Doors provide both security and longevity for these high traffic areas. This was a complex project which required precision, close co-operation between all sub-contractors and 3D BIM modelling to ensure co-ordination of all the elements involved.

33 Charterhouse Street – now known as The JJ Mack Building –  is one of London’s most stylish and sustainable new office buildings, completed in 2022.BCM GRC supplied the intricate, fluted panels that line the ground floor reception area, as well as the cool grey feature panels of the building's lift lobbies – all of which were expertly installed by our partner installer, Henley Stone.

This renovation was designed to integrate the Johann Sebastian Bach Hall within Köthen Castle with the accompanying function rooms in the adjacent coach house. The concert hall's exterior was semi clad using EQUITONE [natura] in N154, Cream White. The new material, with its modern, 3D installation on top of the original, stone architecture is not designed to be a seamless installation, but is designed to show a development that is at least related to its foundations.

the rooftop bar known as the 'wagtail' is housed atop 68 King William street, a well renowned building in the heart of the square mile. The Raaft support system was used in this instance, to support the Roma Natural tiles giving that light stone appearance. On top of this, positive 'vibes' are the only ambience you're getting from the public enjoying their evening out and taking in the views of the surrounding London skyline.

This unique bathroom is typically Brazilian in design. The bathroom adjoins a spacious, well-furnished bedroom, and sits under a large skylight. Chichester Free School opened in 2013, holding 1,280 students aged 4–19. Located in Chichester, West Sussex, the school was damaged in a fire in 2009; this led to demolition and a part refurbishment of the former Carmelite convent. It includes a 600m² sports hall, a 250m² hall, dedicated music and performance spaces, multi-use games facilities and external landscaping.Cellecta YELOfon HD10+ was specified by Hunters South Architects for this development for its acclaimed resilient layer, which isolates floating screed from the structural concrete floor. YELOfon HD10+ has superior impact sound-deadening properties, is lightweight and is easy to handle and install.This 6,500m² development was awarded to Farrans to restore the school at £26.5 million.

Studley Castle is an exquisite hotel with over 180 years of history in the heart of rural Warwickshire. Built in 1834 in the Gothic Revival style, this project aimed to maintain a modern outlook. A renovation of the castle was carried out, costing £50 million; this 4,200m² restoration development is now a luxurious 200-room hotel castle blending the modern with the original ancient facades.Cellecta ScreedBoard 28 was specified by PWP Architects in this luxury refurbishment to improve upon its existing acoustic properties. It's high density, and unique resilient layer provides unrivalled acoustic performance, typically 5dB better than legislative requirements.Rob Gould was awarded the contract to maintain and convert the iconic castle in Studley.

A trio of Stannah Maxilift motor room-less passenger lifts has delivered residential access for all at King Edward VII Estate, West Sussex. Completed in 1906, this Grade II* listed former sanatorium has been renovated and converted into 162 sumptuous apartments, duplexes and communal facilities set within eight acres of Registered Gardens in the South Downs National Park, with full resident access to the 165-acre estate. Original features have been restored, conserved and further enhanced with über-modern updates to include the three Stannah 8-person, motor room-less (MRLi) Maxilifts supplementing stair access over three and five floors.

BCM supplied these striking GRC ‘picture surrounds’ to the balconies of a residential development now known as Orwell House, on Baroness Road in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.The chequerboard pattern of the surrounds echoes the design of the blocks of the original estate, but their terracotta colour provides the new block with a radical, modern façade. The surrounds were expertly installed by BCM's partner installer, Henley Stone, who completed their installation in early 2020.

Using INTRAform DM, this back-to-frame Grade A office refurbishment features three bold horizontal stripes of entrance matting to make a striking first impression on visitors. The double-width fibre inserts within the system provide superior dirt and moisture absorption and retention. While the use of the dark-coloured INTRAlux Linear anthracite fibre hides soiling and provides a strong visual contrast to the stone floor.

Stone: LUNDHS Blue® - silk and polished surfaces.As visually arresting as it is practical, Lundhs Blue, used in and around this outdoor pool, has extremely low absorption properties, meaning it is not affected by the outdoor elements or swimming pool chemicals. Inside the pool, high gloss polished tiles have been used whilst a silk finish has been used o the surround to create a less slippery surface.

Helo UK Ltd completed the installation of a wellness suite at Old Thorns Golf & Country Estate in Liphook, Hampshire. The installation comprised an attractive Herb sauna with a large feature window, heated by two Rocher designer sauna heaters loaded with 240 kilos of stones for excellent infusion. The other attractions include an Aroma steam room, ice fountain, heated loungers, heated bench and footspa combination.

We recently provided individually selected materials for a local garden project. These included our La Roche paving, Purbeck walling and bespoke La Roche copings to complete the desired design.Our La Roche limestone possesses a gentle mix of cream, grey & beige hues, offering a timeless and classic appeal. Additionally, this stones delicate fossil detailing adds texture – complementing this modern garden space.

This extravagant garden was designed by Adolfo Harrison (Landscaping work carried out by Town & Country Gardens), featuring our La Roche Luna acid-etched limestone, bespoke steps, and pool copings. Our La Roche Luna is a dark, earthy limestone with fossil and highlight detailing, giving the stone a gentle character. It is a dense, durable, and hard-wearing material, with versatility for both interior and exterior uses.

A number of pre-existing farm structures have been reconstructed using CUPA PIZARRAS Heavy 3 slate in order to house a new Scottish whisky distillery, Ardross. Existing stone and slate from the location’s original, dilapidated farm buildings were salvaged and reused to rebuild much of the walls and roof of the development. However, Heavy 3 was selected to maintain a uniform aesthetic where the original slate could not be re-used.

Overlooking the picturesque Tobermory harbour on the Island of Mull, Macgochans restaurant and bar showcases the best of Inner Hebridean hospitality and is popular with the local community and holidaymakers alike. Retaining its Scottish charm with original features such as its stone walls and fireplaces, the new interior design creates a visual separation between the cosy bar area and the more contemporary restaurant space with fresh natural materials and a neutral yet interesting colour palette.

Unilife provides premium student accommodation with an aim to deliver high-quality student experience.Accommodation availability is one of the many factors that most students consider when choosing which university to study at.Unilife wanted to expand their accommodation on offer at the main campus of the University of Surrey in Guildford and so turned to Stelling Properties and sort to found a solution in using  ROCKWOOL® RWA45 non-combustible stone wool insulation.

The space was divided up into two areas, one featuring stone paving and the other using artificial grass, the latter features a series of large rectangular WoodBlocX planters, bordered with integrated seating which utilise the height of the planters as a backrest. The paved area features a continuous WoodBlocX structure with a long, slim rectangular planter which acts as the backbone of the design and three large square planters extending outwards bordered with seating.

A large expanse of Junckers’ Nordic Oak flooring forms part of a new archive and research facility in Cornwall. Designed by Purcell, the landmark development comprises public search, exhibition, education and workshop spaces. Based on historic records, many of the original buildings’ remaining structures were restored. For the floor, the original granite flagstones were lifted and re-laid, installed alongside Junckers’ solid 185mm wide Oak Boulevard flooring in a white-pigmented Nordic finish. Junckers 20.5mm thick solid wood floor can be sanded and refinished up to ten times. A long lifespan, PEFC + FSC certified and produced in a CO2 positive facility, means specifying a Junckers floor is an environmentally sound option. The flooring contractor was Tre Concepts. 

The Old War Office is a former office building with 1,100 rooms, used by Winston Churchill as a headquarters during World War II. A refurbishment of this office was completed, this 16,000m² development has created a 5-star hotel, 85 apartments and various leisure facilities. Works included developing a six-story basement and construction of a three-story roof extension.Cellecta RUBBERfon impact 6 was specified by EPR Architects in this project due to its effective barrier to impact sound transmission. It is available in various thicknesses ranging from 3mm-8mm and is made from high compressive strength and 100% recycled rubber.Ardmore Group were awarded the contract to restore and convert the iconic Old War Office site in Whitehall.

The Canada Water Masterplan is a significant urban regeneration project in Canada Water, Southeast London. Led by British Land and AustralianSuper, the Masterplan is set to transform a 53-acre site into a radiant mixed-use neighbourhood, over the coming 10-15 years. The development will see the creation of around 3,000 new net zero homes, circa one million sq. ft of retail, leisure, entertainment, education, and community spaces, and up to 2.5 million sq. ft of workspace. Furthermore, encapsulated within the 160 acres of existing green space, will be the first new London high street for a generation as part of 16 new streets across the masterplan, a new town square, and 12 acres of new open space including a 3.5-acre park.Situated on Surrey Quays Road, London, is the recently restored former Docks Office. The 120-year-old Grade II-listed building features 19th Century architecture and was once the base for the Surrey Commercial Docks which operated in the Rotherhithe Peninsular for decades. Fast forward a century and the Docks Office is now the marketing suite for residential property sales at Canada Water. The restoration project was approached sympathetically, with an overarching goal to return it to its former glory, whilst respecting its historical significance. The exposure of the building’s original brickwork pays homage to this and elegantly portrays its unique character and charm.Supporting effective people movement within the marketing suit is a Cibes C1 Pure Cabin Lift. Designed to be installed in just a few days, requiring minimal preparation work, the C1 Pure was the perfect solution for the listed space.
