Window Surrounds
Description

A range of classical cast stone window surrounds which can be tailored to suit individual requirements. The surrounds, based on the Tuscan style, can be used for new build or refurbishment.

Components:

  • Bespoke Pediment.
  • L380 Cornice.
  • R380 Head.
  • Q381 Head/ Jamb.
  • P381 Cill.

Material:

- Haddonstone (Semi-dry cast limestone):

High quality semi-dry cast stone, consisting of over 50% limestone aggregate. With a surface texture similar to Portland Stone, Haddonstone is regularly used alongside or as an alternative to natural stone.

- TecLite (fibre-reinforced):

High quality GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete). Although it closely resembles cast stone in appearance, the use of thin wall construction means the component weight is significantly reduced when compared with similar Haddonstone and TecStone pieces. Its high strength to weight ratio makes TecLite suitable for retro-fit, renovation and timber frame build projects.

- TecStone (wet cast limestone):

High quality wet cast stone, comprising over 60% natural limestone aggregate. Denser than the Haddonstone material, TecStone is acid etched as standard to provide an attractive appearance similar to a finished natural stone. Designed to meet demanding performance criteria and can incorporate structural reinforcement and cast-in fixings. TecStone is the preferred material for architectural projects where structural performance is required.

Standard product features

Size (width):

140 mm.

Compressive cube strength after 28 days (minimum):

  • Haddonstone: >35 MPa.
  • TecLite: >45 MPa.
  • TecStone: >45 MPa.

Both materials exceed the requirements of the United Kingdom Cast Stone Association (UKCSA) specification and comply with the requirements of BS 1217, BS 5642-2+ A1 and BS EN 13198.

Haddonstone:

  • Material density: 2150 kg/m³.
  • Compressive strength: Minimum compressive cube strength at 28 days is >35 N/mm² (MPa).
  • Aggregate size: 0–3 mm continuously graded.
  • Finish: Ex-Mould (no finishing required).
  • Freeze/ thaw resistance: Complies with UKCSA Standards so products deemed freeze/ thaw resistant.
  • Handling reinforcement: Where appropriate units may contain one or more stainless steel, synthetic fibre or extruded basalt reinforcement bar (30 mm minimum cover).

TecLite:

  • Material density: 2000 kg/m³.
  • Compressive strength: Minimum compressive cube strength at 28 days is >45 N/mm² (MPa).
  • Aggregate: Grade 60 dry silica sand.
  • Finish: Light acid etched.
  • Handling reinforcement: Glassfibre reinforcement.
  • Structural reinforcement: Yes (on request) - subject to submittal of Structural Engineer's design.

TecStone:

  • Material density: 2350 kg/m³.
  • Compressive strength: Minimum compressive cube strength at 28 days is >45 N/mm² (MPa).
  • Aggregate size: 0–10 mm continuously graded.
  • Finish: Light acid etched.
  • Freeze/ thaw resistance: Complies with UKCSA Standards so products deemed freeze/ thaw resistant.
  • Water absorption: In accordance with UKCSA Technical Manual and BS 1217:2008, last 12 months testing no result above maximum permitted mean of 1.0 mg/mm² nor any individual result exceed 1.3 mg/mm².
  • Slip resistance 'Smooth' finish paving tested to BS EN 1339. Unpolished slip resistance value (USRV) was average 86: 'Extremely low' potential for slip. Surface Micro-roughness test (Rz) was average 33.3 µm: 'Low' potential for slip.
  • Fire resistance: Non-flammable, non-combustible, does not give off toxic gases; reaction to fire: Euroclass A1.
  • Freeze/ thaw resistance: Complies with UKCSA Standards so products deemed freeze/ thaw resistant.
  • Handling reinforcement: Where appropriate units may contain one or more stainless steel, synthetic fibre or extruded basalt reinforcement bar (30 mm minimum cover).
