Application

Inverted roofing applications.

Description

Structural waterproofing designed and manufactured for use on all inverted roofs, podium decks, living roofs, blue roofs and car park decks. A pure polymer-modified bitumen compound formulation, combined with reinforcement mesh and high strength protection membrane, results in a tough, seamless, flexible, self-healing monolithic waterproofing system, with fast installation speeds, that will last the lifetime of the building.

The European Technical Approval enables the system to be CE marked.

Wilotekt reinforcement mesh.

Guidance for specification option:

WILOTEKT reinforcement mesh is used as the first layer to form the reinforcement of the system and to control the flow of the hot-applied WILOTEKT compound. 100 x 1 m rolls. Colour: purple. Roll weight: 15 kg. European Technical Assessment ETA 03/0049.

Washed Riverstone is also used to create perimeter sterile borders to all Axter living and biodiverse roof installations, acting as an effective barrier and restricting the spread of invasive plant species into gutter and drainage outlets.

Adjustable circular base paving slab supports.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Non-combustible, 100% full metal pedestal
  • Ideal for roof decks, terraces, podiums, balconies 
  • Adjustable height range between 25 mm to 300 mm
  • - Supports all types of calibrated paving, including natural stone, concrete and porcelain
  • 150 mm diameter circular baseplate giving greater lateral stability
  • Weight tolerance of over 1 tonne each
  • Smooth underside and edges prevent digging into substrate
  • Bespoke headpieces for paving and decking
  • Height can be adjusted when slabs/decking are in position (consult literature for height range).

Timber decking support adapter.

Guidance for specification option:

This Timber Decking Support Adapter enables easy installation of flat decking over a laid to falls flat roof. The joists are held clear of the roof itself, increasing their life and allowing free passage of water to outlets. 

  • Easily fitted to Axter fixed and adjustable polypropylene paving slab supports
  • Perforations in the head prevent water stagnation and prolong life of timber decking

Axter Hydropack is a complete extensive green roof in a modular tray, combining excellent planting quality with simplicity of installation. Once installed, the effect is of an immediate living roof, with plants chosen to suit local ecological requirements.

System completion

Interim and final roof inspections by AXTER Quality Assurance (QA) personnel. Final roof inspections by AXTER Quality Assurance (QA) personnel are mandatory for guarantee application.

Certification

BBA approved, accepted by all third party building warranty providers such as LABC and NHBC. Fully compliant with The Building Regulations and all relevant British and harmonized European standards.

Primer

Wilotekt surface primer.

Guidance for specification option:

Wilotekt Surface Conditioning Primer is a black, liquid, solvent-based, fast-drying, bitumen primer modified with adhesive and supplied ready to use. Bitumen-based primer used on all substrates (concrete, screeds, metal and timber) before the installation of WILOTEKT®-PLUS structural waterproofing to provide a good key for the system and to protect the substrate from moisture.

Underlayer

Wilotekt compound.

Guidance for specification option:

Wilotekt Compound is a hot applied elastomeric modified bitumen based mastic. Used as the waterproofing compound in the Wilotekt®-Plus structural waterproofing system as well as for filling of joints, cracks and pitch pockets around stanchions, pipework etc.

Wilotekt protection membrane.

Guidance for specification option:

Wilotekt protection membrane is a stabilized polyester reinforced SBS elastomeric modified bitumen waterproofing membrane. The membrane is finished on both surfaces with sand. Top layer in the application of Wilotekt-Plus® composite structural waterproofing.

HYTHERM ECO XPS and water flow reducing layer.

Guidance for specification option:

Axter grey Hytherm ECO XPS is a lightweight, durable, rigid extruded polystyrene XPS insulation board, designed specifically for inverted roofing applications in conjunction with the Axter water flow reducing layer. With excellent lambda insulation performance, a GWP <5, and a BREEAM Green Guide Rating A+ it enables the construction of energy efficient buildings. Achieves CE marking, and satisfies the relevant requirements set out in the NHBC Standards 2021, Chapter 7.1 


  • Standard board sizes:1250 x 600 mm.
  • Standard board thickness: 50, 80, 100 ,120, 130, 140, 160, 180 and 200 mm.
  • Thermal resistance: - 1.65–5.80 m²K/W (thickness dependent).
  • Compressive strength: 300 kPa at 10% compression.
  • Reaction to fire BS EN 13501-1: Class E.

Manufacturer guidance

Water flow reducing layer (WFRL):

High performance spun bonded polyethylene geotextile designed to improve thermal performance and to help minimize:

  • Water flow below the insulation;
  • Heat loss caused by rainwater cooling;
  • Thickness of insulation required;
  • Flotation effect;
  • Weight of ballast required.

The layer also allows water vapour from below to permeate and reduces the risk of condensation being trapped within the construction.

  • Water vapour resistance: 0.17 MN.s.g-1.
  • Roll size: 100 x 3 m or 50 x 1.5 m.
  • Overlaps: 300 mm sealed with Hytherm tape (sealing of the laps is optional).

Guidance for specification option:

  • Flexible thin-film photovoltaic system combining CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) panels bonded to Axter waterproofing membrane Axter SOLAR PVFLEX flexible.
  • Thin-film photovoltaic system is a lightweight integrated solution, where the solar PV module and the waterproofing are combined, and the PV module is secured to the roof system without the need for mechanical restraint and penetration of the waterproofing layer.
