Description

SUPALUX® is a non-combustible calcium silicate board reinforced with selected fibres and fillers. SUPALUX® is resistant to the effects of moisture and will not physically deteriorate when used in damp or humid conditions. Promat can also provide a design and specification advisory service, including advice on the suitability of these boards for the proposed application and it is recommended that they be consulted early in the design process.

Close butt joint treatment

All transverse joints to have 80 mm wide x 9 mm thick SUPALUX® cover strip behind the joint, fixed with 19 mm x 4.2 mm steel screws at 300 mm centres. Joints to multi layer board constructions to be staggered

SUPALUX® is available in 8 thicknesses and typical applications include:

30 minute fire rating:

  • 9 mm SUPALUX® board fixed to the ends of roof members using 50 mm nails at nominal 150 mm centres around edges and 300 mm centres elsewhere or 50 mm x No.8 woodscrews at nominal 300 mm centres. Fixings required along top and bottom edges. Insulation: Mineral wool 60 mm thick, minimum density 23 kg/m³.
  • 9 mm SUPALUX® board fixed to the underside of the roof members using 50 mm nails at nominal 150 mm centres around edges and 300 mm centres elsewhere or 50 mm x No.8 woodscrews at nominal 300 mm centres.
  • Insulation: Mineral wool laid over SUPALUX® vertically and horizontally, 60 mm thick, minimum density 60 kg/m³.

60 minute fire rating:

– First layer:

  • 12 mm SUPALUX® fillets. Fixed vertically to the faces of the supporting members. The width of the fillets are such that they will overlap each supporting 5 mm on each side.
  • 12 mm SUPALUX® board. Fixed horizontally to timber battens forming a continuous backing plate along the front and back edge of the soffit.

– Second layer:

  • 12 mm SUPALUX® board. Fixed vertically and horizontally to supports using 50 mm nails at nominal 200 mm centres or 50 mm x No.8 woodscrews at nominal 300 mm centres. Fixings required along top and bottom edges.

– Third layer:

  • Rockpanel fixed vertically and horizontally in accordance with Rockpanel’s recommendations.
  • Insulation: Mineral wool laid over SUPALUX® vertically and horizontally, 60 mm thick, minimum density 60 kg/m³.

Ductwork applications include:

Fire performance:

– 120 minutes stability, integrity and 30 minutes insulation:

  • 20 mm thick SUPALUX® boards.

– 240 minutes stability, integrity and 30 minutes insulation:

  • 25 mm thick SUPALUX® boards.

The selection of board thickness will not only depend on the required fire performance but also on the internal cross section of the duct and the operating pressure(s). With large ducts and medium to high operating pressures, internal stiffeners may be required.

Fire performance:

Stability and integrity only:

– 120 minutes:

  • 9 mm thick SUPALUX®.

– 240 minutes:

  • 12 mm thick SUPALUX®.

Stability, integrity and insulation:

– 120 minutes:

  • 15 mm thick SUPALUX®, with 50 mm x 100 kg/m³ mineral wool insulation.

– 240 minutes (30 minutes insulation):

  • 20 mm thick SUPALUX®.

– 240 minutes:

  • 25 mm thick SUPALUX®, with 100 mm x 100 kg/m³ mineral wool insulation.

The mineral wool insulation, where required, is tightly packed into aperture between surrounding structure and the surface of the SUPALUX® board.
