Application

Free-weight areas in commercial gyms.

Description

Stravigym XP with Stravigym GympactLayer-45 is designed as a discrete isolator floating floor system specifically intended for use in free-weight areas. The system offers superior structural resistance and acoustic performance and can withstand and absorb the energy from high impacts.

The patented dBooster® technology decouples the load distribution layer from the resilient supports with minimal contact area. Tests show that isolation efficiency improves for all discrete Stravigym floor systems and that it makes the gym floor less dependent on the impact energy level applied to the system.

Stravigym XP is engineered to reduce noise, dampen vibration and minimize bounce thereby reducing the risk of injuries and it is suitable for commercial gyms (impact energy from 200 to 1000 N.m).

Features and benefits:

  • Available with an isolated channel or dBooster® channel.
  • Standard isolated channel system height is 56 mm if with resilient pads and 64 to 89 mm if with springs.
  • Standard dBooster® channel system height is 60 mm if with resilient pads and 74 to 99 mm if with springs.
  • A variety of load distribution components can be used, such as plywood or OSB board.
  • Simple isolated channel and dBooster® channel steel components are electro-galvanized.
  • Simple isolated channel and dBooster® channel are available with elastomeric pads in four standard grades: Channel-L (low stiffness), Channel-M (medium stiffness), Channel-H (high stiffness) and Channel-X (extra stiffness).
  • Simple isolated channel and dBooster® channel are availabvle with two types of springs, 1.35kN/4.5Hz and 1kN/4Hz. Other springs available upon request.
  • Floor covering is not included in standard Stravigym floor systems but Stravigym GympactFloor products are available upon request.
  • Compatible with almost all types of gym floor covering (please check with CDM Stravitec and floor manufacturer prior to installation).
  • A lightweight floating floor option with reduced/minimal overall thickness (low additional height and weight).
  • Quick and easy installation.
  • If required, Stravigym floor systems can easily be dismantled and reinstalled.

System performance

With GympactLayer-20 on 200 mm concrete slab: Ln,w = 25 dB.

With GympactLayer-45 on 200 mm concrete slab: Lnw = 19 dB.

Manufacturer guidance

Calculated according to ISO 717-2, based on ASTM measurement. Non standardized drop weight tests (LA,F,MAX (dBA ref 20 μPa)) available upon request (consult manufacturer's literature and stravi-db.com for detailed information).

Subfloor preparation layer

-

Manufacturer guidance

Supporting floor should have a tolerance of 0.1% or 1 mm/m for gradient and a maximum of 2 mm for smoothness. Installation area should be watertight and the supporting floor dry and clean prior to installation.

Resilient layer

1.35 kN/4.5Hz (64 mm).

1 kN/4Hz (89 mm).

Manufacturer guidance

dBooster® technology adds 10 mm to the total thickness of the resilient support.

Non-standard bearings available upon request.

Secondary supports or spacers

dBooster® channel, with springs.

Guidance for specification option:

Standard dBooster® channel with springs system height is 74 and 99 mm, depending on type of springs. Channel width will variate between 60 and 80 mm depending on type of spring used.

Thermal insulation between battens

Mineral wool insulation.

Guidance for specification option:

Ensure that the thickness of the mineral wool is thinner than the air void.  Insulation material in the void: 40 mm.

Flooring

Three layers of P5 chipboard with two damping layers.

Three layers of structural plywood with two damping layers.

Guidance for specification option:

Plywood 18 mm + Damping Layer 5mm + plywood 18mm + Damping Layer + plywood 18 mm.

Three layers of Class 3 oriented strand board with two damping layers.

Guidance for specification option:

OSB 18 mm + Damping Layer 5 mm + OSB 18 mm + Damping layer + OSB 18 mm.

Manufacturer guidance

Panelized floating floor made with three layers of wooden board layers with 2 damping layers - constrained-layer damping (CLD) technique. Minimum thickness of 64 mm - to be defined according to expected impacts and load conditions as well as deflection criteria and expected floor coverings.

Fasteners

Screws.

Joint treatment

Resilient layer.

Perimeter seals

10 mm EPDM perimeter strips with self-adhesive surface.

Guidance for specification option:

Perimeter Strip - resilient strip used to minimize sound transmission between isolated structures and non-isolated structures.

System accessories

None.

GympactLayer-20.

GympactLayer-45.

Manufacturer guidance

Damping layers are fitted over the first and second plywood/ OSB layers.

Execution

-

Manufacturer guidance

Consult manufacturer for execution requirements.

Grades

dBooster® Channel-M (medium stiffness).

Manufacturer guidance

Distance between channels: 500 mm.

Floor finish

Specified separately.

Guidance for specification option:

The manufacturer recommends combining Stravigym XP with either:

  • Stravigym GympactLayer-45 and Stravigym GympactFloor (or other flooring choice).
  • Stravigym GympactLayer-20 and Stravigym GympactFloor (or other flooring choice).

Stravigym systems are compatible with almost all types of gym floor covering (please check with CDM Stravitec and the floor manufacturer prior to installation).

All floor coverings can be considered, depending on type and thickness of impact layer considered. If GympactLayer-45 is being considered, ≥20mm rubber tiles should be considered as floor coverings.

Nominal height

169 mm (excluding floor covering).

Guidance for specification option:

Total build-up height with GympactLayer-45 and dBooster®️ (most common configuration).

Nominal weight

65 kg/m2 (excluding floor covering).

Guidance for specification option:

With GympactLayer-45 and dBooster®️ (most common configuration).
