Mobile storage system.
The Multitrak mobile carriages are manufactured from heavy duty steel channels measuring 114 x 50 x 3 mm. All bearings in the system are of a common size and are sealed for life requiring no maintenance.
The carriages are installed onto surface mounted tracks to provide effortless operation and excellent load capacity.
The mobile system can be installed on most floors including suspended and computer floors subject to loading conditions (super-imposed and point load). Irregularities in the level of the floor can often be overcome during track laying by using jacking screws to level the track.
The manufacturer assumes that the maximum height of the track shall be no more than 50 mm above the existing floor level. Floors which have sharp irregularities may require a higher track fixing and this will involve additional levelling grout and jacking studs. Asphalt floors may require channels cut in them to provide the levelling grout with a good surface key.
Additionally the mobile system can also be mounted on computer floors by two methods. A surface mounted track can be fixed directly to the floor and levelled using the computer floor jacks. Where loads are particularly heavy the tracks must be supported directly from the concrete sub-floor (may involve the installation of a support beam or sleeper wall prior to levelling the tracks).

Two 6203 steel bearings are located within the wheel offering a load rating of 1000 kg. The cast wheels are spherically ground to reduce rolling resistance and are held into the carriages by an axle fixed with self-locking nuts to ensure reliability.
Manufactured from 50 x 16 mm bright carbon steel and zinc plated after machining offering good wearing properties. The track is counter bored to accept jacking studs. Length: 3 m.
Consists of a running track and guide channel welded together. Size: 40.5 x 16 mm. The channel provides the double-acting guide for the carriage mounted bearing to keep the carriages perfectly at 90° to the track system.
6203 bearings, 40 x 17 mm. They are fixed to the mounting boss, which is itself fixed to the carriages using a specially developed shake-proof bolt, to reduce the probability of the guide assembly vibrating loose.
Chain guide track:
The chain guide track consists of a running track and guide channel as noted above, together with a chain track channel welded on the opposing side to the guide channel and supports the chain rack on which the mobile carriages are propelled.
Primary drive assembly:
Consists of a box section upstand, together with the internal running gear. The design is extremely flexible in that it enables single, double or treble reduction gearing to be incorporated within the structure, together with various types of locking facility.
Primary head assembly:
The head assembly is the initial drive to which the capstan handle is fitted. It consists of a 17 mm drive shaft and a ten tooth drive sprocket which is welded to the shaft. The shaft is press-fitted into a 6203 bearing to eliminate play in the primary head.
Where heavy loads are used, a triple reduction assembly may be fitted and this consists of a removable mounting plate with a pair of reduction sprockets (33 tooth primary and 11 tooth secondary sprockets) are attached to an Oilite bush on a 17 mm mounting shaft.
Secondary drive assembly:
Mounted in the mobile carriage and consists of a 19 tooth sprocket fixed to a 17 mm shaft which is located by two 6203 bearings.
Final drive assembly:
The final drive consists of a 32 tooth sprocket mounted on a 17 mm shaft. The assembly is supported by two 6203 bearings which are mounted in bearing houses.
The transmission shaft consists of a series of drive tubes with interconnecting shafts and is fixed to the secondary drive assembly on a coupling with a captive key way and 6 mm bolt for placement and retention.
The primary transmission chains are 3 x 12 mm and the chain rack is 12 x 15 mm tensioned using special bolts at each end of the track.
A rubber bumper is mounted at various points along the length of the carriage to prevent a collision.
Where it is important to retain a common line throughout the shelving system, then static bases can be utilized. This lifts the static shelving to the same height as the mobile shelving. Manufactured to the same specification as the mobile carriages but without any load wheels.
A variety of decorative end panels are available including steel powder coated to specific requirements, melamine or laminate with aluminium trim and a range of fabrics to co-ordinate with the colour scheme of the environment where the carriages exist.
Where the mobile shelving has a height to depth ratio in excess of 5:1 an anti-tip device may be required. Generally this consists of an overhead mounted box section which runs the full length of the mobile installation with a mounting assembly sliding along the box; when utilized the slide assembly would be restrained by the box section, preventing such tipping actions. As an alternative, a floor mounted anti-tip device can be incorporated within the track system. This consists of a captive channel welded to the track in which an anti-tip device also acts as an anti-seismic disturbance device.
