Newton 803 Newtonite
Application

Can be used as the following:

  • A damp proof base for renders, plasters or dot and dab plasterboard.
  • A damp proofing system to deal with rising damp.

Description

Newton 803 Newtonite is a composite damp proofing membrane, comprising of a high density polyethylene membrane with a rot-proof polythene mesh heat-welded during the manufacturing process to the surface of one side. The meshed surface creates a mechanical key to allow the membrane to be plastered, rendered or to receive dot and dab plasterboard.

Newton 803 Newtonite is 0.5 mm thick and has a pattern of raised 3 mm studs. The studs face the wall and create air channels that allow for vapour equalisation to take place between the membrane and the wall.

Newton 803 Newtonite is light, clean and easy to handle.

Newton 803 Newtonite is guaranteed against deterioration for 30 years, has a life expectancy of at least 50 years, and is supported by BBA Certification Certificate Number 94/3010.

Consult manufacturer's literature for relevant surface preparation information, for protection of the coating once applied and for recommended finishes.

Features and benefits:

  • Provides a surface that is totally separated and unaffected by the dampness within the wall, ensuring that the wall finish will never be affected by moisture or salts.
  • Provides a good ‘key’ for renders or plasters.
  • Does not require extensive and damaging preparation to the wall surface.
  • Can be cut with a sharp knife, scissors or shears.
  • No need to use injected damp proof courses which unnecessarily pump chemicals into the property.
  • Quick to install.
  • The membrane is inert and is highly resistant to water, alkalis, saline solutions and organic acids, and it is not affected by minerals. It is also resistant to bacteria, fungi and other small organisms.
  • Completely moisture-resistant, but allows vapour diffusion.
  • The existing render can, at times, be left on the wall.
  • Can be fitted horizontally or vertically.
  • Has a service life that can be equal to the design life of the structure.

Suitable for wall finishes including:

  • Plaster.
  • Render.
  • Hydraulic lime.
  • Plasterboard bonded to the membrane with a propriety adhesive compound.

Application:

Can be used as the following:
