Application

Masonry support systems are generally used on alternative floors on buildings over 12 m in height but sometimes require support at every level depending on the specific application.

Description

The Firma masonry support system is compatible with a variety of cavity sizes, projections and loadings. The systems are engineered to transfer the load of the masonry facade back to the primary structure, whether concrete or steel. They work in coordination with expansion joints to accommodate thermal expansion, shrinkage, and structural movement.

FMS Masonry Support is an angle and bracket system that supports the brickwork facade of concrete or steel building frames. It caters to loads from 2 kN/m to around 18 k N/m with varying cavities. Provided as a complete package including fixings, shims and thermal shims for ease of installation.

FMS/IS inverted masonry support is often used where brickwork is supported at a level near to the top of the concrete slab, or above the structural slab level. Engineered to suit a variety of loads and cavities.

FMS/TF top-fixed masonry support is engineered to suit a variety of loads and cavities, Firma FMS/TF provides a solution with thinner concrete slabs, such as hollow core or ribbed slabs. The top-fixing means that the angle has enough bearing to effectively take the load of the brickwork.

Masonry support design is manufactured to suit various applications as well as bespoke requirements. Technical drawings, layouts and schedules are provided to support the structural designs of the masonry support.

Features and benefits:

  • UKCA, CE and UKNI marked.
  • In line with NHBC technical requirements.
  • FirmaTherm™ thermal breaks are used for masonry support systems where optimum thermal performance is required.
  • Stainless steel is non-combustible and complies with non-combustible façade requirements.
