Lobby Smoke Damper

Particularly suited for fire rated mechanical smoke extraction shafts in multi-storey buildings.


Lobby smoke damper designed to satisfy smoke vent applications. It has been fire tested to the latest European fire damper test standard BS EN1366-2, and achieves a two-hour fire resistance performance to ES120.

The units are fitted in the wall between a lobby or corridor into a vertical smoke shaft. The top of the damper should be as high as possible but can be fitted at the same height as the head of the architrave.

Standard product features


Entire inside of damper behind grille is spray painted matt black, fixing screws are colour matched to the grille.


1.5 mm thick galvanized steel frame, with fully seam welded corners along the entire depth to produce a rigid and air tight construction.

Damper blades:

Vertical 'opposed motion' to enhance air entrainment being ‘pulled’ into in smoke shaft. 0.7 mm thick galvanized double skin airfoil, 100 mm pitch with interlocking engagement when damper is closed.


0.4 mm grade 301 stainless steel peripheral gasketing around the entire perimeter.

Drive and linkage:

‘Out of airstream’ mechanism.

Ambient leakage (to BS EN 1366-2/ ISO10294-2):

Conforms to class ES (200 m³/hr/m² – 55 L/s/m²).


Pre-punched damper sleeve fixing holes.

Fire resistance (to BS EN1366-2):

Two-hours to ES120.
