Landing and Stairway Tactiles (Corduroy)
Description

Corduroy hazard warning surface for staircase approaches, providing ‘good practice’ solutions to the Department of Transport’s “Guidance on the use of Tactile Paving Surfaces” and the recommendations provided by the Joint Mobility Unit and the Centre for the Accessible Environment.

Features and benefits:

  • Manufactured from a mineral-filled rubber elastomer to give high durability, abrasion and skid resistance.
  • Suitable for internal and external applications, with resilient floorcoverings.
  • Tiles have a ribbed pattern to Equality Act (2010) specifications to warn of a hazard requiring caution such as steps or ramps.

Installation:

  • Should be installed as a hazard warning surface on the top and bottom approaches of a staircase to warn pedestrians that they are approaching a staircase.
  • The surface should be laid so that the bars run transversely across the direction of pedestrian travel and should be a contrasting colour to the surrounding area.
  • Fixing: Q-Fix adhesive (specified separately).

Ten-year project warranty available; consult manufacturer for details.
