Application

Used in a Knauf drywall system for walls and ceilings - can be used for both new and existing buildings. 


Knauf Silentboard can be used in partitions, suspended ceilings, linings and curved partitions where greater acoustic performance is required.


Ideal for use in cinemas, entertainment complexes and other buildings where low frequency sounds are an issue.

Perimeter Sealing

Manufacturer's standard.

  • For fire rated systems, two continuous 6 mm beads of Knauf Intumescent and Acoustic Mastic should be installed underneath the floor track, between the head track and board fillet(s) and between the board fillet(s) and the soffit.
  • A bead of Knauf Intumescent and Acoustic Mastic is also required to the board perimeter edges to achieve a fire and acoustic rated seal to the structure. 
  • Knauf Sealant can be used as a perimeter seal for non-fire rated junctions/ perimeters to achieve an acoustic seal only.

Finishing

  • Taped and jointed for a seamless finish using Knauf jointing products.
  • Use Knauf Uniflot for Silentboard. One coat of Knauf Wallboard Primer applied immediately after taping and jointing. Fill all joints and screw heads with Knauf Uniflott.
  • Systems with a requirement for fire and/ or sound insulation performances should be installed with all outer joints taped and filled in accordance with Knauf recommendations.

  • Maximum heights – calculated based on a limiting deflection of L/240 at 200 Pascals (0.2 kN/m²).
