The product can be utilized in any application where fire compartmentation is required – but is suited to applications where radiated heat is considered an issue.

Description

Fire-resisting roller shutters which have been tested to EN 1634-1 in both orientations, and when face-fixed are rated EW90 or EW120, dependent on openings sizes, in accordance with EN 13501-2, EN 14600, EN 15269-10 and EN 16034.

The curtain infill insulation considerably reduces the risk of combustible materials igniting on the unexposed side when compared to single skin fire shutters. When tested, the radiation transfer remained below the pass/ fail criterion of 15 kW/m², thus protecting people in the vicinity.

Features and benefits:

  • Curtain: constructed from 100 mm flat section galvanized steel laths with acoustic/ fire-resisting infill and steel end locks fitted to the laths to prevent lateral movement. The bottom rail is a lath fitted with a galvanized steel trim section.
  • Guides: the side guides are formed from galvanized steel double rebate channels, and are prepared for fixing to the opening structure by means of continuous fixing profiles.
  • End plates: fabricated from mild steel of adequate thickness relative to door size, and supplied with angles for fixing to the structure.
  • Roller: the roller is manufactured from carbon steel tube of sufficient diameter and wall thickness to resist deflection, and is mounted on bearings on each end plate. A galvanized steel casing is supplied as standard.
  • Casing: a galvanized steel coil casing is supplied to maintain the fire seal at the head.
  • Operation: electrical operation is by means of a 240 V, single-phase or 400 V, three-phase Speedsafe motor mounted on one end plate. The standard controls are by means of key switch with emergency stop button fitted adjacent to the shutter.
  • Fire activation: in a fire condition, activation is initiated by an incoming signal from the fire alarm system. Closure is by gravity with a controlled descent.
  • A pull cord and hand chain are provided for use in the event of power failure, and a safety brake is fitted to satisfy the safeguarding requirements of EN 12604.
  • Standard low-level control is via a constant pressure key switch with emergency stop button fitted adjacent to the shutter.

Galvanized as standard. A factory finish is available, which comprises a white plastisol internal face (coil side) with the external face polyester powder-coated to a standard RAL colour.
