Standard product features

Fire resistance:

30–60 minutes dependent on fire side.

Stud centres:

600 mm.

Linings:

Two layers of 12.5 mm Fermacell one side of the partition and one layer 12.5 mm Fermacell to the other side (alternative cavity side board 9 mm Sheathing Board).

Insulation:

90 mm mineral wool: 10 kg/m³.

Recycled content:

Best Fermacell gypsum fibreboard contains 100% recycled content. All by-products recyclable.

Other requirements:

Fire stopping around service penetrations: Sockets backed using baffle boxes, intumescent putty pads or suitable rock mineral wool, sufficient to maintain the fire/ acoustic performance.

Movement joints are required at maximum 8 linear metre intervals.

Refer to manufacturer's literature. Vapour barrier as required for high humidity areas.

For tiled areas reduce studs to 400 mm centres as required. Tile adhesive to be suitable for gypsum based substrate.

Provide door reinforcement as required to suit door weights and opening size. Ensure no vertical joints at door jambs.

Offset all board joints by minimum 200 mm.

- Single Stud Solution:

  • Height (maximum): 2.60 m.
  • Thickness (overall): 127 mm.
  • Airborne sound resistance (Rw): >46 dB.
  • Applied load: 5.56 kN per stud.
  • 5–7 mm filler joint option is not suitable for use on this size of stud.

- Twin Stud Solution:

  • Height (maximum): 2.60 m.
  • Thickness (overall including cavity): 270 mm.
  • Airborne sound resistance (Rw): >66 dB.
  • Applied load: 5.56 kN per stud.
  • 5–7 mm filler joint option is not suitable for use on this size of stud.
  • Inner Sheathing Board may be a timber based product. Refer to Fermacell for further technical information.
