SCI Assessed
Certificate type
Range of thermal breaks for structural (for moment connections), light structural and light loads in compression.
Typical applications:
Fabreeka-TIM®:
Steel grade plate for moment connections.
Fabreeka-TIM® LT15:
Primarily for cost sensitive projects where the load is negligible or uniformly distributed.
Fabreeka-TIM® RF Series, for light structural loads in compression:
Fabreeka-TIM® Structural Thermal Break is a composite resin glass fibre reinforced plastic (GFRP) with an unrivalled combination of high compressive strength and low thermal conductivity. Independent laboratory testing has been carried out by various testing establishments including The British Board of Agrément (BBA) and the Building Research Establishment (BRE), this has been verified by the Steel Construction Institute (SCI) with design guidance for the available thicknesses of 6.4 mm (¼ in), 12.7 mm (½ in), 19.1 mm (¾ in), 25.4 mm (1 in) and 50.8 mm (2 in).

Fabreeka-TIM® LT15 material reduces thermal bridging or energy flow paths through highly conductive building components in the envelope design of many different building types.
Designed for light load applications with up to 1,500 psi loading, Fabreeka-TIM® LT15 serves as thermal break material which prevents thermal bridging and improves energy efficiency when incorporating sustainable elements into your building envelope. Applications range from facade support brackets and clips to metal building framing.
Fabreeka-TIM® LT15 material provides better thermal insulation than vinyl and plastics, reduces corrosion between dissimilar metal elements, and is made from recycled materials, which helps to achieve LEED credits.

Fabreeka-TIM® RF is a high density, closed cell rigid polyurethane foam used as an effective thermal break for a variety of building envelope and cold storage applications. It is manufactured in several densities to support a range of load conditions. Fabreeka-TIM® RF properties make it impermeable by any type of liquid, including water and most solvents, thus suited for moisture, severe weather conditions or harsh environments. Additionally, it is resistant to mechanical stress and has exceptional insulating qualities which makes it a valuable asset to reduce thermal bridging in building envelope connections and cold storage applications. For optimal thermal break performance, the area around the fastener hardware should be taken into consideration. In addition to the Fabreeka-TIM® RF block, Fabreeka recommends Fabreeka-TIM® thermal break washers and bushings made from Fabreeka® material.

Recyclability | Material is a Composite Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) and is unlikely to be recyclable unless thorough mechanical recycling methods such as mastication are used. Manufacturer guidanceProduct designed for lifetime of the building, difficult to recycle due to composite nature. Polymer flux and glass fibres would need to be separated. Could be re-used if in good condition for low stress thermal isolation. |
