Description

Two-layer, torch-applied, warm roof, Alpa polymeric binder, reinforced bitumen membrane (RBM) waterproofing system. Suitable for new build and refurbishment applications.

Preparation

Horizontal work

Vernis Antac Primer.

Guidance for specification option:

Solvent-based, rapid drying bituminous primer specially modified with an adhesive. The product is supplied ready to use. Priming of concrete, timber or metal roof deck/slabs in preparation for receiving bituminous membranes.

  • Average consumption: 150 - 300 g/m².
  • Application method is by brush or roller, on dry, clean surface. Allow to dry completely before applying waterproofing membranes.
  • Drying time: 60 to 90 minutes, depending on weather conditions.

Air and vapour control layer

Roll 25 Alpa Alu.

Guidance for specification option:

ROLLSTICK 31 ALPA ALU is a glass-fibre/aluminium reinforced bitumen air and vapour control layer with ALPA binder. It has semi-continuous strips of self-adhesive bitumen on the surface, protected by a thermofusible film, and a thermofusible film on the undersurface. Once installed, the product provides a temporary waterproofing layer, allowing internal works to be carried out immediately.

Hytherm ADH.

Guidance for specification option:

Hytherm ADH PIR insulation is a high performance board used in warm roofs under fully adhered reinforced bituminous membranes. For use on new roofs, refurbished roofs or for upgrading the thermal performance of existing roofs.


  • Type: Rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS) flat and tapered boards.
  • Facing: Coated glass tissue facing.
  • Board sizes:(small) 600 x 1200 mm, (large) 1200 x 1200 mm.
  • Thicknesses (flatboard): 25 - 150mm (also available in tapered).
  • Thermal conductivity: 0.026 - 0.024W/m.K (may vary, dependent on thickness).

Hytherm ADH Tapered.

Guidance for specification option:

High performance board comprises a fibre-free, rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR) core with a coated glass tissue facing on both sides. See guidance on Flatboard.

Hytherm BF.

Designed to provide optimum stability and structural integrity.


  • Type: Fibre-free, rigid polyisocyanurate (PIR).
  • Facing: Top: coated glass tissue facing on one side. Underside: bitumen glass tissue with polypropylene fleece.

Hytherm CG.

Guidance for specification option:

Robust, non-combustible insulation material manufactured from specially graded recycled glass (>60%) and natural raw materials such as sand, lime, dolomite. Available in tapered.


  • Face: upper bitumen layer covered with a PE foil.
  • Lower: White glass fleece
  • Density: 100 kg/m².
  • Board size: 1200 x 600 mm.
  • Thickness (Flatboard): 50mm - 180mm.
  • Thermal conductivity: <0.036 W/mK (may very, dependent on thickness specified).

Cut to falls insulation is a robust, non-combustible insulation material that can play a crucial role in the fire safety of a building as well as providing long-lasting thermal performance in a flame free (self adhesive or adhered) or torch-applied warm roof waterproofing system.

Axter Hytherm EPS ADH is a durable, lightweight, rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation available in both uniform and tapered boards for use in warm flat roofs with limited access and balconies and terraces with regular pedestrian traffic.


  • Type: lightweight, rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS) flat and tapered boards.
  • Facing: laminate.

Manufactured from extruded aluminium alloy to BS 1474, Quality 6065/T6 (AIMgSi 0.5 F22), this high quality, cost-effective roof edge trim brings a neat finish to flat roof waterproofing.


Axtrim aluminium termination bars.

Guidance for specification option:

Axtrim aluminium termination bars are manufactured from extruded aluminium alloy to BS 1474, Quality 6065/T6 (AIMgSi 0.5 F22). Aluminium termination bars will not rust and are not affected by atmospheric pollution. They are colourfast and maintenance free, once installed.


Axtrim GRP termination bars.

Guidance for specification option:

Axtrim GRP termination bars are manufactured from pultruded GRP (glass reinforced polyester). It is UV protected and has low coefficient of thermal expansion. GRP termination bars will not rust and are not affected by atmospheric pollution. They are colourfast and maintenance free, once installed.


Rainwater outlets.

Guidance for specification option:

Axter rainwater outlets are manufactured from 0.7mm stainless steel in a choice of diameters, with a factory bonded flange if required to provide an excellent bonding area with the relevant Axter waterproofing system.

SBS bitumen membrane flange 500mm square suitable for use with the full range of Axter reinforced bitumen membrane (RBM) and hot melt structural waterproofing systems. On our Dual Outlet a bitumen flange is fitted at AVCL level. Axter parapet outlets are manufactured from 0.7mm stainless steel in a choice of diameters, with a factory bonded flange if required to provide an excellent bonding area with the relevant Axter waterproofing system.

SBS bitumen membrane flange 500mm square suitable for use with the full range of Axter reinforced bitumen membrane (RBM) and hot melt structural waterproofing systems. On our Dual Outlet a bitumen flange is fitted at AVCL level.

PVC membrane flange 350mm square suitable for use with Axter Ecoflex/Ecoline PVC single ply waterproofing systems.

Sump outlet.

Guidance for specification option:

Specifically designed for through walls applications or parapets where a high flow rate is required and are supplied with our Hyflow leaf guard as standard. AXTER sump outlet has an outstanding flow rate of 6.1 L/s. As recommended by UK design standard BS EN 12056:3-2000 with a water depth of 35 mm.


Wide parapet outlet.

Guidance for specification option:

Used where an increased flow rate (2.02 L/s) is required. A 90° pipe angle and extra-large leaf guards are also available to be used with this unit.

Universal leaf guard.

Guidance for specification option:

The stainless steel universal leaf guard is a solid and effective leaf guard which securely clamps to the inside of the outlet stem. Suits all sizes of rainwater outlets.


Parapet leaf guard.

Guidance for specification option:

The parapet leaf guard is a solid and effective leaf guard which is securely attached to the inside of the outlet and is fully adjustable to fit all three parapet outlet sizes.


Hyflow leaf guard.

Guidance for specification option:

The 1.4301 (304) grade stainless steel Hyflow leaf guard is a high performance leaf guard designed to be used with Axter rainwater outlets. Its use increases flow rate by over 50% compared to standard leaf guards.

Solar PV Flex.

Guidance for specification option:

Flexible thin-film photovoltaic system combining CIGS (Copper Indium Gallium Selenide) panels bonded to Axter waterproofing membrane Axter SOLAR PVFLEX flexible, thin-film photovoltaic system is a lightweight integrated solution where the solar PV module and the waterproofing are combined, and the PV module is secured to the roof system without the need for mechanical restraint and penetration of the waterproofing layer.

Manufacturer guidance

Where required installed to a zero fall or laid to falls. All in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidance, third party certification and British Standard documentation BS 6229: 2018. The structural deck must be clean and dry with moisture content below 6%. The deck should be cleaned ensuring the removal of all dust and loose material using approved methods. Please refer to Axter Ltd substrate preparation document for further guidance.

 

System completion

Interim and final roof inspections by AXTER Quality Assurance (QA) personnel. Final roof inspections by AXTER Quality Assurance (QA) personnel are mandatory for guarantee application.

Certification

BBA approved, accepted by all third party building warranty providers such as LABC and NHBC. Fully compliant with The Building Regulations and all relevant British and harmonized European standards.

Reinforced bitumen membranes should only be applied over a continuous substrate which provides full support. Support structure Materials used to form the roof deck in flat roofs should be those listed in BS 6229: 2018 and conform to the relevant requirements in BS 8217: 2005.

Guidance for specification option:

Self-adhesive, stabilised polyester reinforced SBS 

elastomeric modified bitumen waterproofing membrane. The under surface is covered with a peel-off film. The under surface and side lap are self-adhesive.

Usually 100% recyclable except for aluminum membranes ( the aluminum would have to be removed). They can either be burned to recuperate the energy produced or ground down to add them into membranes or shingles or even into roads.
