The Degafloor Quartz Trowelled (QT) System flooring is a heavy-duty decorative methyl methacrylate (MMA) screed typically laid at 4-6mm and is trowel-applied. Known as MMA resin.
Suitable for use in dry areas, or where spillages are cleaned away immediately and for areas such as warehousing, distribution facilities, aircraft hangers or corridors. Degafloor works with some of the UK's most well-known commercial supermarket brands providing commercial flooring which will last for years.
To see the Degafloor QT System and Aggregate flooring, check out our case study which shows completed with Aston Villa football club.
A basic guide to resin flooring
Resin flooring is a hardwearing plastic surface, created by mixing a selection of ingredients to initiate a fast and controlled chemical reaction. The chemical reaction creates a highly durable finish, ideal for the heaviest-use environments.
The simplest form of resin flooring, a resin coating consists of:
As demand intensifies– typically resulting in an increase in resin floor thickness – the range of ingredients grows to include aggregates, pigments, decorative chips/flakes and in some cases, cement powder.
Step 1 – Primer
Most resin floors utilise a primer that penetrates into / reacts with the substrate to create a high-strength and reliable bond essential to the floor's longevity.
Step 2 – Bodycoat
The primer is typically followed by a main structural layer, often referred to as the body coat, which creates the bulk of the floor thickness and provides many of the key performance elements such as impact resistance, flexibility and compressive strength, as well as defining the decorative finish of the floor.
Step 3 – Seal coat
Most resin flooring will be finished with 1 to 3 seal coats to encapsulate the body coat and decorative element of the floor and provide the final performance characteristics, such as chemical and wear resistance.

Longevity and low-maintenance MMA resin
The QT System utilises quartz aggregate with clear resin binders in the body coat, which provides high-performance anti-slip protection and has passed European safety testing. The QT flooring System is renowned for its longevity; its UV-resistant formulation prevents the surface from cracking, deteriorating, or yellowing over time and the surface is simple to clean.
Strength to sustain any terrain
Underneath its light textured finish, the QT System can be adapted to overlay existing flooring, making installation easier across different working environments. This exceptional bond to existing subfloors, along with a chemical bond between layers, creates a truly monolithic floor that provides strength for heavy vehicles, such as fire engines, to move safely across.
Made for multi-layered, dry areas
The Degafloor QT resin system delivers outstanding performance in the heaviest-duty environments and is ideal for commercial and industrial flooring. This trowel-applied flooring system can be tailored to create either a lightly textured or a smooth finish and is ideal for dry areas such as packaging halls, catering facilities, kitchen warehousing, and staff amenity areas where staircases could be used.
Quartz Trowelled with Aggregate System
Similarly to the resin QT System, Quartz Trowelled with Aggregate uses quartz aggregate within clear resin binders within the body coat. In addition to this, the resin QTA System also features a layer of broadcast aggregate over the body coat for ultimate slip resistance and a waterproof resin finish.
A trowel-applied resin system, QTA slip-resistant flooring is also ideal for use on outdoor ramps or when creating falls to drainage in wet or slip-prone areas.
Standard Colour samples (Quartz Trowelled System and with Aggregate System)
Degafloor’s Quartz Trowelled MMA flooring system is available in a wide range of standard colours. The standard mixes listed above are readily available off the shelf, with many other colours also available - please use our sample form to request this directly.
Bespoke Colour samples
Bespoke flooring mixes can be created to match your branding, interior design scheme, or existing flooring. The MMA resin flake options listed on this page are classified as standard colors and are priced at a premium per kilogram, as they are made to order.
