Application

Suitable for new build, refurbishment or modular offsite projects, including facades, wall cladding, balconies, and most applications where brick is used (excluding below DPC level).

Description

BRICKNOLOGY® is genuine, mechanically secured and rear supported brick slip cladding, with proven efficiencies, that unifies a traditional looking brick exterior with a patent-pending brick slip and mortar retention technology.

Every brick slip and building corner is mechanically retained to metal support rails, ensuring complete safety, durability and performance of the highest standard.

Features and benefits:

  • Resistant to wind loading: BRICKNOLOGY has been subject to wind pressure tests at +3000 Pa, and wind suction tests at 6600 Pa, almost twice the UK standard, with no visible damage.
  • Suitable for installation at any building height, subject to appropriate facade engineering calculations being carried out by qualified professionals.
  • The patent-pending BRICKNOLOGY® brick slip retention technology seamlessly integrates their purpose-cut or extruded brick slips, steel support rails and mortar into a single, cohesive brick cladding finish.
  • Purpose-made steel rails, brick slips and mortar are classified as Euroclass A1 in accordance with EN 13501-1 and Delegated Regulation 2016/364.
  • Its lightweight* construction reduces the demand on foundations and minimizes the need for additional support structures, yielding significant cost savings compared to traditional brickwork.
    • *Weighs 45 kg/m² dry and 65 kg/m² wet making it over 50% lighter than traditional brickwork.
  • Exceptional efficiency and ease of installation, ensuring a fast-track approach to brick cladding.
  • Minimal weather dependency for installation - only the mortaring dependent upon the weather.
  • Bricks classified as F2 Frost Resistance, in accordance with EN 771-1, specification for clay masonry units are used with BRICKNOLOGY®.

Guidance for specification option:

Consult manufacturer for options and insert requirements.

Secondary support structure

BRICKNOLOGY® steel support rails.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Starter, middle and top metal support rails are fixed direct to the engineered backing structure at 75 mm modular increments.
  • Recommended vertical support rails should not exceed 600 mm fixing centres and a maximum span of 12 m between movement joints within the brick cladding.

Manufacturer guidance

Purpose-made steel support rails, fabricated to provide the mechanical retention of the purpose-made brick slips and additional key attachment into the purpose-made mortar.

They are perforated to provide a true ventilated brick cladding, allowing the brick slips to breathe.
