Range of intumescent air transfer grilles that are suitable for providing protection against the spread of fire through air ducts and openings in fire-resisting constructions such as doors and partitions for up to 60 minutes.
Designed to fit into rectangular or square ducts and openings. Can be secured in several ways depending upon the surrounding construction and the required appearance - consult manufacturer for details.
When a metal duct passes through a fire barrier wall, the grille should be secured in the duct on the centre line of the fire barrier. It may be secured in position by angle cleats secured to the duct top and bottom or by screws projecting through the duct walls to either side of the grille. If the screw heads are left projecting, they will form a key to the pointing between duct and fire barrier wall which should be in Quelfire QF2 Compound (specified separately).
Range of intumescent air transfer grilles that are suitable for providing protection against the spread of fire through air ducts and openings in fire-resisting constructions such as doors and partitions for up to 60 minutes.
Manufactured from a rectangular extrusion of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U) filled with an intumescent core. Circular grilles are contained with a rim of aluminium. In the event of fire, the effect of heat causes the intumescent core to expand, sealing off the duct or opening against the passage of flames and hot gases.
Features and benefits:
Standards and approvals:
Tested by Warrington Fire Research Centre according to BS 476 Parts 20 & 22: 1987. Tests show that a 600 x 600 mm grille can provide fire resistance of up to 60 minutes.
