Application

Suitable for use in heavily trafficked floor joints, or joints requiring a high degree of chemical resistance.

Description

A two part polysulphide sealant for structural floor joints.

Features and benefits:

  • It is not recommended for joints subject to large and frequent movement or for use with potable water.
  • The sealant is resistant to most alkalis and dilute acids, petrol, diesel, jet fuel and many solvents and vegetable oils.
  • Arbokol 2150 burns, but will not readily ignite, so does not constitute a fire hazard.
  • It can be painted, but excessive joint movement may cause the paint to crack and could induce tears in the sealant.
  • Correctly applied, the sealant should not require maintenance, and has an anticipated life in excess of 20 years.
  • When used in trafficked areas, or in special environments such as swimming pools, life may be reduced.
  • Has good UV resistance.
  • Health and safety: Some components are labelled as toxic. Use of this product should be recorded in the Project Health and Safety Plan.

Manufacturer guidance

  • Primers are available to suit other substrates, refer to technical literature for details.
  • A primer is not required for mill finished aluminium, anodized aluminium or galvanized steel.

Backing

A combined joint filler/ bond breaker such as closed cell foam polyethylene rod should always be used to ensure that the sealant only adheres to the joint faces and not the back.

Guidance for specification option:

Where the joint has been packed out with fibre-board, bond breaker tape should be used.
