Application

Topcoat for use in industrial environments such as: steel structures, exteriors of containers or tanks, bridges or conveyers, offshore platforms, marine application, high performance architectural when long term exterior gloss/ semi-gloss and colour retention characteristics are required.

Description

Acrolon® 7700 is a topcoat for use in industrial environments such as: steel structures, exteriors of containers or tanks, bridges or conveyers, offshore platforms, marine application, high performance architectural when long term exterior gloss / semi-gloss and colour retention characteristics are required.

Solvent-based.

Guidance for specification option:

Cleanser/ thinner No.5 for cleaning.

Cleanser/ thinner No.15 for thinning with maximum 10% by volume (up to 6% by weight) to adapt the viscosity.

Thinning will affect VOC compliance, sag tolerance and dry film thicknesses.

Colour

Guidance for specification option:

A wide range of colours available is available; consult manufacturer for options and insert requirements.

Approvals

ISO 12944-6:2018 up to C5 as part of a system.
Conforms to SSPC Paint 36 Level 2A.

Accelerator

Acrolon® 7700 PUR Accelerator.

Guidance for specification option:

One 210 mL bottle per 20 L pack of Acrolon™ 7700.

Not required.

Application method

Airless spray, conventional spray, brush or roller.

Coverage

Theoretical: 10.8 m²/L (7.74 m²/kg).

Drying time

For a 60 µm dry film thickness:
At 5°C, to handle: 15 hours (or 6 hours*); to recoat: 7 hours (or 3 hours*).
At 10°C, to handle: 12 hours (or 5 hours*); to recoat: 5 hours (or 5 hours*).
At 23°C, to handle: 7 hours (or 4 hours*); to recoat: 3 hours (or 1 hour*).
At 35°C, to handle: 5 hours; to recoat: 2 hours.
*with Acrolon® 7700 PUR Accelerator.

Volume solids

To ISO 3233-3, 65% ±3%.

VOC content

290 g/L EPA Method 24.
284 g/L (203 g/kg) EC Solvent Emissions Directive (Council Directive 1999/13/EC).

Flash point

Base: 24°C; hardener: 50°C.
