Description

BCL acoustic timber wall panels offer exceptional design and performance flexibility for wooden slatted wall areas.

BCL's open-configurable approach offers thousands of design options, whilst harnessing the efficiency benefits of prefabrication, to deliver high-performance acoustic timber panels, sized according to layouts - removing any cutting or modification on site and allowing faster, more efficient installation with less on-site waste.

Three different fixing systems are available for timber wall panels, depending on your systems type and preference:

  • Direct fix - Acoustic panels are screwed back to timber battens. Panel screws are PPC coated same as fabric colour and fixed at 600 mm ccs in between gaps.
  • Cover batten - Often used for vertical timber wall panels - each acoustic panel is fixed direct to the timber studs or SW timber bearers, through slat gaps. This system allows to use a secret fixing system to avoid any visible screw or nail.
  • Wall rail - Wall Panels are stacked upon each other via the male-female rail and screwed back to vertical metal studs or SW timber bearer, or into a blockwall.

Features and benefits:

  • Full systems fire testing to EN 13501-1.
  • BIM level 4 full system design (in Revit or similar).
  • SIDOS Compliant ‘Bomb-blast’ grids available.
  • Flexible panel sizes to suit layouts - no cutting = < 1% waste.
  • Secret-fixings - wood slats age better and coatings last longer.
  • Solid wooden slats - natural variation and beauty.
  • FSC® and PEFC certified - Full BREEAM Mat03 credits.
  • High recycled content (typically 20%).
  • High natural/organic content (typically 65%).
  • Bespoke fire retardant colour coatings.
  • Coloured acoustic fabrics.
  • Anti-viral/ bacterial infection control options.
  • Direct installation service.

Battens

Direct fix.

Guidance for specification option:

Panels are fixed to wall using painted screws (matching fabric colour), located in between timber slats @ 600 mm ccs.

Cannot be used for 'closed board' systems.

BCL Wall Rail.

Guidance for specification option:

Panels are hung on to wall using a male-female carrier rail.

Additional cost typically £10 / sqm.

Cover batten.

Guidance for specification option:

Panels are fixed to wall and a timber 'cover slat' is bradnailed over panel junction to hide screws @ 600 mm ccs.

Can only be used for systems w/ 19 mm thick timber slats.

Acoustic insulation

Acoustic fabric + 25 mm insulation at 45 kg/m3.

Acoustic fabric + 50 mm insulation at 45 kg/m3.

12 mm MDF backing board (reflective).

Guidance for specification option:

Any RAL colour (reflective).

Open-screen.

Manufacturer guidance

The acoustic fabric runs behind the timber slats and comes in several available ranges, varying in colours, texture and thickness. Multiple colours can also be combined across a system to generate distinctive looks or align with your client’s brand colours.

Recyclability

BCL panels are easily demountable to be re-purposed or recycled at end of service life. Panels are simply unscrewed / demounted and each component (Timber, Polyester fabric, PPC Aluminium) can be easily separated and recycled individually. Typically 90-95% of any system can be easily recycled.

Recycled content

As defined in clause 7.8 of BS EN ISO 14021

30 %

Guidance for specification option:

Typically. Varies depending on panel configuration. BCL can provide exact recycled / organic / carbon content on request, specific to each project / order.

Manufacturer guidance

Recycled content typically varies between 20% - 30% , depending on volume of timber used.

The recycled component comes from the Aluminium used within a panel system generally.

Carbon offsetting / reduction comes from using more timber (which is virgin organic and not recycled, lowering recycled content)

BCL can provide full recycled / organic & carbon analysis on every system order -- please contact BCL for more information on your system configuration.
