160 fire and smoke protection doorsets between the antarctic and rainforest ensure the safety of the visitors to Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8

Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° is a spectacular exhibition complex, north of Bremen, Germany. The idea behind the large project is a simulated journey around the world measured at eight degrees 34 minutes east. This is the longitude of Bremerhaven and all the other locations on the journey: Switzerland, Sardinia, the Sahel, the African rain forest, the Antarctic, Samoa, Alaska and the north Frisian island of Langeness. Teckentrup provided smoke and fire doorsets to ensure unobtrusive and safe everyday passage and emergency egress for visitors to the exhibition. Almost every doorset was individually planned.

Colditz castle: Teckentrups fire-protection in a historical building with all glass fire doors and fire doorsets creates a brilliantly sympathetic fire protection solution

The recently renovated 'schloss Colditz' in Saxony, Germany is a great example of how to reconcile the often conflicting demands of historic preservation and fire-protection. The renovation has not just fulfilled fire-protection requirements but the planners have used extremely discreet solutions that fit with historic preservation requirements. Many of the passageways have been fitted with Teckentrup T30 all-glass doors, which combine functionality with aesthetics and maximum transparency.

When we think of the „Elbe Philharmonic Hall“ most of us imagine the impressive silhouette or the concert hall. Hamburg‘s new landmark also has a hotel, restaurant and apartments where high quality interior design is also in evidence. Functionality may not be the headline stealer but the safe use and operation of the building is a key design element for ensuring visitors, residents, suppliers and artists reach their destinations safely and quickly. A walk around behind the scenes shows how the doors interact with the buildings functionality and aesthetic demands.

First class fire protection for the underground airport car park. 300 fire-proof doors and 52 sliding and sectional fire-resistant doors provide maximum safety on four car park levels.

A four-storey underground car park needs to meet enormous fire protection requirements. Preventive fire and smoke protection and fully functional escape routes and emergency exits were top of the list when planning the doors and barriers. T90 fire and smoke protection doorsets were used for highly frequented areas with a higher risk of fire and the gallery and escape routes between the individual fire compartments were fitted with single and double-leaf T30 doorsets with round glazing. Access points to the individual levels were equipped with T30 sliding doors and T30 sectional doors.

Radisson Red Hotel, Cape Town

Tourism booms worldwide, new hotels spring up everywhere and this can be seen on the other side of the world too: in Cape Town, at the port metropolis at the foot of Table Mountain. The Rezidor Hotel Group opened, under the “Radisson Red” label, a high-profile 4-star hotel. It is a building with challenging requirements: many guests in a small space who need to be catered for, yet wish to enjoy peace and quiet and also need to be able to leave the building quickly in case of emergency. This means that doors are particularly important.

West Burton (CCGT) Power Station

The newly built West Burton Gas Turbine Power Station was experiencing maintenance issues with its existing doors. Doors we’re not meeting lifespan expectations and failing at a high frequency. The site is very exposed and a typical failure was of doors on stairwells being caught by winds and going out of service. Teckentrup's solution based approach delivered much improved overall life costs...
