A BONA FINISH FOR A FIR FLOOR

A BONA FINISH FOR A FIR FLOOR

Bona Limited

The restaurant at Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens features a Douglas Fir floor finished with Bona Traffic HD. The area was sanded back to bare wood using Bona’s ‘dust free’ system so no need to ‘tent’ the adjacent mezzanine area. Traffic HD was specified to provide the required level of durability in such a busy area. It's a very low VOC formulation which protects wood floors in highly trafficked areas. Its fast development time means busy commercial floors can be put back into full use just 24 hours after application.

A sound specification for Bona Craft Oil 2K

Bona Limited

Bona Craft Oil 2K was specified for the restoration of the Beech floor in the world’s largest purpose-built recording studio. In constant use by orchestras and choruses, it was essential to choose a highly durable, quick drying finish to minimise downtime. Bona said “It was unusual for us to have to consider the acoustic properties of one of our finishes before creating this specification, but understandably this was of paramount importance for the studio team. Another beneficial property of a ‘traditional’ oil finish, is the ease with which local repairs can be made, usually without sanding.

A combination of primer and non-slip, waterborne lacquer from Bona was used to renovate the oak floor in a food service area at Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa, Leeds. Floors finished with Bona Traffic HD can be put back into full use after just 12 hours – perfect when avoiding downtime is a key requirement.

Recoating a resilient sports floor

Recoating a resilient sports floor

Bona Limited

The renovation of a vinyl sports floor represented a saving of around 50% against the cost of a new floor and was completed in just five days. Working through deep cleaning, wet sanding, removing the sanded slurry from the floor and then neutralising with clean water, the surface was ready for the first coat of Bona Pure Colour to the centre section. Two coats of each colour were applied, followed by sports lines and a final transparent coat to seal the surface. The Bona Floor Care Program renovates and totally transforms the floor with new colours and graphics.

Timbered Flooring used Bona to finish a fumed oak floor at London's new Assembly London hotel The wirebrushed blocks were finished with Bona Craft Oil 2K (Frost) buffed back for a white limed effect. Bona Traffic HD lacquer was applied as a hard wearing top coat for this busy space. The fast curing time of both enabled the team to work within a tight timetable. Maintenance involves regular cleaning with Bona Cleaner and annual resealing with Traffic HD so the floor always looks good and the expense and downtime caused by sanding back to bare wood will be avoided.

Tough, pale and interesting

Tough, pale and interesting

Bona Limited

To deliver a light, non-yellowing natural surface to existing oak floors, a combination of Bona White primer and Bona Traffic Natural polyurethane lacquer was applied. Bona White primer is designed to ‘whiten’ the surface from - as in this one coat application - simply providing a subtle pale sheen that inhibits any yellowing over time, to a true whitewashed look when two or more coats are applied. Bona Traffic Natural was chosen as the top coat because it maintains the non-yellowing look and feel of pure, untreated wood and, at the same time, offers superior surface durability.
