Ancon 25/14 Restraint System

The Ancon 25/14 Restraint System ties an outer leaf of brickwork to a light steel frame. Self-drilling, high-thread screws fix through the channel and rigid insulation board and into the steel. Ancon SD25 wall ties are located in the channel and built into the bed joints of the outer leaf of brickwork. This system has been independently tested by Lucideon; it meets the technical requirements of the NHBC and a CE Declaration of Performance is available to download from www.ancon.co.uk/CE.

Ancon CCB Cellular Clay Block Wall Ties

Ancon has developed an innovative range of wall ties for use with cellular clay blockwork, where the horizontal bed joints are just 1mm. The range includes ties for internal wall junctions and internal/external cavity walls. They are manufactured from corrosion-resistant stainless steel and are suitable for use in housing and commercial applications.

Ancon KSN Anchor Reinforcement Continuity Systems

The KSN system comprises of internally-threaded anchors which are cast into the wall and, during construction of the adjoining slab, accept continuation bars prepared with a Bartec parallel-thread. This is fastest and safest system. There is no on site bar straightening and virtually no restriction on bar length, so EC2 lap lengths are easily accommodated. A standard timber carrier allows multiple anchors to be installed simultaneously. Unlike re-bend systems where bar length, spacing and diameter are restricted by physical box dimensions, KSN Anchors provide total design flexibility.

Ancon Low Thermal Conductivity Wall Ties

Ancon’s range of low thermal conductivity wall ties minimise heat loss through thermal bridging, improving the energy efficiency of a masonry cavity wall. The use of these ties can reduce insulation depth and wall footprint. In addition to a number of stainless steel wire wall ties, the range includes the Ancon TeploTie which is manufactured from pultruded basalt fibres set in resin. This BBA-approved product is available exclusively from Ancon. It has a thermal conductivity of just 0.7W/mK, making it the most thermally efficient wall tie on the market.

Ancon Thermal Breaks

Masonry support systems from Ancon can now be supplied with Thermal Breaks to minimise heat loss through cold bridging and improve the energy efficiency of the building envelope. Ancon Thermal Breaks are manufactured from a durable fibre-reinforced thermoset plastic which combines low thermal conductivity with high compressive strength. They are shaped like a standard Ancon key-hole shim in order to locate quickly and easily, between bracket and structural frame, as a support system is installed.

CB Coupler Box and CS Coupler Strip Reinforcement Continuity Systems

Ancon CB Coupler Boxes simplify the continuity of reinforcement at concrete construction joints. They allow engineers to design slab-to-wall connections without the traditional restrictions on bar length and bar diameter of re-bend/pull-out continuity systems and help contractors to eliminate manual bar straightening on site.

Channel and Bolt Fixings

There are various methods of fixing stainless steel masonry supports, restraints and windposts to either concrete or steel frames. The selection of the most appropriate method will depend on many factors including fixing centres, edge distances, type of fixture, loading and the site adjustment required.

Corner Guards

Corner Guards offer protection to exposed edges of columns and walls in areas of high traffic such as car parks, warehouses, hospitals etc. Ancon manufactures corner guards in a standard length of 1250mm in either stainless steel, galvanised steel or untreated mild steel.

Design of Shear Connections using KSN Anchor Box

Ancons internally threaded KSN Anchors, supplied in a metal casing and used in combination with Bartec Plus parallel-threaded reinforcing bars, can now be detailed in a single row along the slab section centreline. The innovative KSN Anchor Box provides a cost-effective design solution that minimises rebar congestion in both the slab and the wall, simplifies bar scheduling and is quick and easy to install with no requirement for manual bar straightening on site.

E-HLD Shear Load Connectors

The Ancon E-HLD joins new concrete slabs to existing concrete walls. It is designed to transfer shear load where new slabs are connected to diaphragm walls or secant pile walls in basement construction.

Eazistrip Reinforcement Continuity Systems

The Eazistrip Reinforcement Continuity System is a quick and easy to install method of maintaining continuity of reinforcement at construction joints in concrete. It consists of a galvanised steel casing with a dimpled surface to provide an effective concrete bond. Pre-bent bars are housed within the casing and are enclosed by a protective cover. Each end of the unit is sealed with a polystyrene block in order to prevent the ingress of concrete.

Engineered Fixing Solutions for Tunnels

Due to its long-life, low-maintenance characteristics, stainless steel offers whole-life costing benefits. Ancon has a wealth of experience of working with a variety of material types and grades, specialising in the fabrication of Austenitic, Duplex and Super Duplex stainless steels. Ancon can advise on the selection of the most suitable material for any fabrication

Four Ways to Create Brick Soffits

Deep reveals and soffits are an increasingly popular design feature that add an extra depth and dimension to masonry façades. Creating these effects can be key but can pose engineering problems as the main building façade must opening, while seeming to be unsupported by structural steelwork.

Gauge Tape

Ancon Gauge Tape provides a visual reference that aids accurate coursing and improves the quality of the external finish. Use of the tape can also accelerate the speed of construction. It allows frame cramps to be fixed at accurate vertical centres for the full height of an elevation in advance of the masonry being built.

Helical Nails for Warm Roof Construction

Helical nails from Ancon Building Products are quick and reliable fixings for use in warm roof applications. Unlike traditional nails, they rotate as they are driven in, inducing a self-tapping action and consequently do not split timbers or compress the layer of insulation. Ancon supplies fixing solutions for both pitched and flat roofs.

Isotec Thermally Insulated Balcony Connectors

Ancon Isotec is a high performance thermal break system for concrete-concrete balcony applications, comprising 100% stainless steel reinforcement and fire-resistant mineral wool insulation. It is particularly suitable for highly energy-efficient structures and compression studs facilitate installation in heavily congested or stepped floor slabs where compression bars would be difficult to accommodate.

Lockable Dowels for Temporary Movement Joints

Lockable Dowels have been designed by Ancon for use at temporary movement joints, most commonly found in post-tensioned concrete frames. These dowels allow initial shrinkage of the concrete to take place and are then locked in position with a mechanical plate and a controlled amount of epoxy resin. The locked dowels continue to transfer shear, but prevent further movement taking place.

Masonry Reinforcement and Windposts

Large panels of masonry or panels with openings can often be difficult to justify structurally. The traditional solutions have been to either increase the thickness of the wall or introduce an additional masonry pier. Ancon AMR Bed Joint Reinforcement and Ancon Windposts are designed to provide additional lateral support for panels of masonry. Windposts can be installed into either the inner leaf of blockwork or into the cavity leaving the blockwork undisturbed. Ancon AMR is a fabricated and flattened stainless steel or carbon steel reinforcement which locates in the bed joint to strengthen a wall. Parapet Posts are used as vertical support for brickwork in parapet panels.

Masonry Support Systems and Lintels

Masonry cladding on steel or concrete framed structures is normally supported by stainless steel support systems. Frame type, differential movement, type of cladding, masonry load and cavity width all need to be considered when designing the most appropriate fixing solution.

NEXUS Next Generation Brick Faced Support System

Deep reveals and soffits are an increasingly popular design feature that add an extra depth and dimension to masonry façades. With the new Nexus® system, creating perfect brick faced soffits couldn’t be easier. The advanced design units are lightweight and easy to fit, and can be simply aligned using a unique two-part system to create a flawless joint with the main brickwork façade – with no unsightly supporting steelwork left exposed. Developed by two of the building industry’s leading manufacturers, Ibstock Kevington and Ancon, the system combines a high integrity stainless steel brickwork support system with prefabricated brick faced units that can be simply lifted and bolted into position by hand – without mechanical lifting equipment.

Non-Drill Fixings

Ancon’s range of ‘NON-DRILL’ masonry-to-steel fixing solutions was developed to address the safety concerns of the Industry. Driven by customer demand for masonry restraint fixings with an alternate installation method from either shot-firing or drilling, Ancon engineered the six innovative solutions detailed in this brochure. These new fixings do not require the use of power tools and can reduce installation times and costs. In all instances they simply abut the column or attach to the flange to restrain the wall against lateral wind loads.

Refractory Fixings for the Heat Treatment Industry

Ancon manufactures fixings for most types of insulation material, such as fibre linings, castable linings and refractory bricks. Standard fixings are available in stainless steel grades 1.4301 (304) and 1.4845 (310), and Inconel 601. Other grades of stainless steel, mild steels and alloys are also available.

Reinforcing Bar Couplers

For many years the use of mechanical couplers to join reinforcing bars has been regarded as a means of reducing the use of long bars. Engineers and contractors now recognise the benefits of using couplers to accelerate the speed of construction, increase productivity and simplify design details. The Ancon range of reinforcing bar couplers is the most comprehensive available and includes tapered threaded, parallel threaded and mechanically bolted couplers.

Reinforcing Large Format Stack-Bonded Masonry - Ancon AMR Masonry Reinforcement

Where large format masonry units are stacked one above the other, the lack of bonding between them will greatly reduce the overall flexural strength of the panel and the ability of the wall to spread vertical loads. Ancon AMR Masonry Reinforcement, located in the bed joints, will increase the panel’s flexural strength and improve the capacity to resist lateral loads and spread vertical loads.

Shear Load Connectors

Ancon connectors can be used for movement joints in floor slabs, suspended slabs, and for replacing double columns and beams at structural movement joints. Applications in civil engineering include joints in bridge parapets, bridge abutments and diaphragm wall construction.

Shearfix Punching Shear Reinforcement

Used within a slab to provide additional reinforcement around columns, Ancon Shearfix is the ideal solution to the design and construction problems associated with punching shear. The system consists of double-headed studs welded to flat rails, positioned around the column head or base.
