Towering over London’s skyline at 225 metres, the Leadenhallbuilding is now the fourth tallest building in the UK. Theskyscraper joins a growing cluster of buildings in the City ofLondon’s financial district including: the Gherkin, 20 Fenchurchstreet (the walkie talkie) and the Lloyds building.The construction of the Leadenhall building was a pioneeringfeat. Rather than using a traditional concrete core, Laing O’rourke,used an external steel frame, more commonly used on bridgesand offshore oil rigs. The frame, which is incorporated into thebuilding’s exterior design, is the tallest in the world.The distinctive slanted design of the building was born throughthe City of London Corporation’s request that the view of St.Pauls Cathedral from Fleet Street must not be obscured by a newbuilding. The resulting wedge shape of the project lead it to beingdubbed the ‘Cheesegrater’.As the Leadenhall building is largely built for the commercialarena with a high level of usage, the ironmongery package thatAllgood supplied had to meet the highest performance standardsthat would stand the test of time. Allgood created the specificationthat met the most stringent of European performance standards inaddition to providing long warranties, including hinges that carry a25 year warranty.Like many modern buildings, there was a strong desire for thebuilding to be built as environmentally sustainable as possible.Not only are all Modric stainless steel door fittings made from 62%recycled material, but 95% of the material can be recycled at theend of the products life.By supplying the Modric range, which is made in our UK factory,Allgood ensured that carbon emissions from transportation werereduced to a minimum providing the most environmentally friendlyoption. 122 Leadenhall street is a unique building that providesan excellent addition to London’s rapidly evolving skyline andAllgood were able to offer an ironmongery specification thatmatched it’s high standards.

Located in Edinburgh’s prestigious Charlotte Square,these former National Trust for Scotland offices havebeen refurbished and redeveloped into commercialaccommodation.Originally designed by Robert Adam in 1791, the restorationof these 6 A-listed townhouses sees the architecturalintegrity of these neo classical facades, fully restored. Aswell as restoring the buildings exterior and interior, MorganMcDonnell Architects have also redeveloped the areabehind these old Georgian houses, linking the 3 centraltownhouses to a contemporary lightweight glass and ETFE(a fluorine based plastic) covered courtyard to provide32,000 ft2 of grade A office space.The balanced contrast between the old exterior andmodern interior is reflected throughout the building’s fabric,especially it’s ironmongery. A traditional oval design wasapproved for the knob handles as it provided the mostgrip available. A polished chrome finish was chosen asMorgan McDonnell Architects wanted a modern feel to thehardware whilst being traditionally sensitive to the age ofthe building. Initially Morgan McDonnell Architects wantedto use lever handles, but due to the listed status of thebuilding and the design of the doors (many of the originaldoors were refurbished) a knob handle was deemed themost suitable.Working with Morgan McDonnell Architects, Allgood Plcprovided a combined ironmongery and access controlpackage that included: hinges, door closers, locks, kickplates, signage and concealed electromagnetic locks. Allitems Allgood provided were delivered on time and withinthe clients budget.

Designed by Fife Council Property Services, the newbuilding constructed at Auchmuty High School inGlenrothes, Scotland, sees the new development replacethe old high school with better learning facilities andadvanced learning equipment.Allgood provided Fife Council with a complete accesscontrol and ironmongery solution, which makes the majorityof the school keyless.Allgood Trio created an advanced access control package,containing proximity readers and access control handlesets, that provide traceable audit throughout the buildingand in addition to the ability to control access to variousareas. The package also included software which allowsthe deletion of a card if it is lost or stolen, providing a betteralternative to the expensive process of replacing lost keys.Allgood Trio also supplied and installed the automatic doorset solution, which satisfied Fife Council’s requirement forthe doors to automatically drive open and remain open inthe event of the fire alarm being activated, providing smokeventilation through the main central core area of the school.The solution also allowed staff to control the main entrancedoors and pupil entrances during specific times. (i.e.granting pupils access during school; start, finish and breaktimes and being locked outside these time periods).The whole package provided by Allgood Trio was deliveredon time and within the clients budget, including theinstallation of both access control and automatic doorsetsby Allgood Trio engineers.

Bath Abbey sits at the heart of the historic city of Bathwhere there has been a place of Christian worship onthe site for more than 1,300 years. The Bath AbbeyFootprint Project sought to ensure the 17th CenturyGrade I listed building remained a focal point forgenerations to come. The project aimed to sensitivelyrenovate parts of the Abbey whilst modernising itsfacilities to cater for present-day demands in a buildingwhose origins date back to 1499.Allgood worked with Feilden Clegg Bradley Studiosand Emery Bros Ltd to provide a complete packageof ironmongery and a comprehensive access controlsolution. The project required many bespoke items toaccommodate the Abbey’s historic architecture.Given the age of the building, there were particularchallenges to overcome during the specificationprocess. A highlight being how to bring a 400-yearoldlock back into working order as part of a modernaccess control system. The lock on the main doors of theAbbey had not been used in decades and the key hadbeen lost many years ago. Allgood delivered the lockto its specialist partner, Guardian Lock & EngineeringCompany, who called upon the services of one of theirretired locksmiths to diligently disassemble the lock,repair, and service it before crafting a new key.Another particular specification issue was improvingaccess control for the ancient catacombs which neededconstant airflow to maintain the right environmentalconditions, but they also needed to be secure.Allgood worked with the architect on several optionsto balance these needs in a way sensitive to the 17th Century surroundings. The solution was a door designedto have a clear gap on either side for airflow but narrowenough to maintain security. Allgood Secure also revisedthe internal exit and a second card reader was fitted toboost security, allowing a read in, read out system to givefull visibility of people arriving and departing. To completethe work, a specifically designed stainless-steel cover was fitted to house the electronic locking system.Alex Morris, Associate at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios,commented: “From early stages in the project, wehave been very pleased to work with the Allgood teamon the ironmongery and access control for the BathAbbey Footprint project. We have benefitted fromtheir expert advice and extensive range of high-qualityproducts, needed to deal with the wide range of projectrequirements.”The Mode 3570 lever handle in a bronze Spectra finishwas specified throughout the Abbey, as well as a fullsuite of matching door furniture. This fully coordinatedrange not only provided the desired aesthetic but is alsodesigned to last. The comprehensive 25-year warrantyand Quadaxial rose, which is tested up to one millioncycles, means the lever handles are perfect for the highfoot traffic the Abbey receives. Allgood Secure also completed an access control systemfor the Abbey. Because many of the doors and frameswere protected by Historic England listing requirements,the team had to develop a sensitive yet functionalsolution. All visible products had the same Spectra bronzefinish to match the ironmongery, as well as installing entrycontrols for much narrower doors than usual.A video entry system was also required - but one thatcould function without disturbing events in the Abbeyincluding the regular choir practices. Rather than anaudio alarm, the team created a visual beacon using a25mm LED fixed to the choir room wall, allowing for anunintrusive system that would draw attention but notdisrupt any rehearsals.The entire access control system is networked sothat each door can be monitored, and access rightsmanaged easily via a simple database. The AllgoodSecure team has provided full training to all thosewho need it and have offered a package of ongoingmaintenance and support for the Abbey.

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) for BEEAHGroup, the Group’s new headquarters in Sharjah, UnitedArab Emirates, is a sustainable, modern, and pioneeringbuilding. Powered by its solar array and equipped withthe latest technology, the new headquarters embodiesthe Group’s vision for using renewable energy andsetting the standard for sustainable practice.Working in partnership with ZHA, we provided acomprehensive package of ironmongery and hardwarethroughout the building. Allgood’s commitment to qualityaligned with BEEAH’s philosophy of sustainable practicewith all our ranges built to last using premium materials,offering strength and durability, coupled with lowmaintenance.Our Sembla™ (3623) lever handle was fitted throughoutthe building due to the range’s broad design choicesand durability. Finished in satin stainless steel thehandles are mounted on Allgood’s patented Quadaxial™assembly rose. Tested to one million cycles withoutfailure – five times more than the level required by theEN1906 standard – the rose ensures the handles willperform beautifully. Our 72 series locks were also fittedin various areas across the building.Sembla’s durability is further backed by our 25-yearmanufacturing warranty (available on all our principalranges), demonstrating our belief that our products areengineered to perform over the lifetime of any buildingwithout failure.

When designing a new music department for BirminghamUniversity, Glenn Howells Architects faced the challengeof creating a new construction to fit in with the surroundinggrade II listed buildings, whilst meeting contemporarystandards of accommodation and acoustics.The Bramall Music Building provides a home for thedepartment of music, with a 450-seat auditorium,a domed rehearsal room, various studios, offices andteaching rooms. Working in conjunction with the architect,Allgood created an ironmongery specification that wasclosely aligned to the design concept of the building;classically designed whilst meeting contemporaryperformance standards. The choice of FSB bronze doorfurniture throughout the public areas compliments theaesthetic of the interior but also links the building to themore traditional materials associated with the design of theexisting buildings.The architect wanted to extend the bronze aestheticthrough to the mechanical hardware which provided achallenge as options are limited for fire rated mechanicalhardware in a bronze finish. Allgood were able to applythe unique, simulated Bronze finish to satin stainless steelhardware, continuing the bronze finish throughout thebuilding. Not only did this complete the visual aesthetic butit meant that the hardware would meet all of the fire andbuilding regulations.In addition, Allgood provided electromagnetic holdopen units, signage and door furniture to allow the maincirculation doors through to the auditorium to be held openin pockets. This created a clean, architectural detail thatprovides clear opening widths for visitors to enter through.

The £350m regeneration of Centre Point was one of the most significant developments in London in recent times. Built in the 1960s by R. Seifert and Partners, it was one the UK’s first skyscrapers and an icon of the capital’s skyline for half a century. In more recent times, the Grade II listed Modernist masterpiece had gone from vibrant commercial hub to a disused shell. In 2015, development firm Almacantar acquired Centrpoint and undertook a regeneration project developing a mixed-use space, featuring 82 luxurious apartments set neatly above the West End of London.Architect Conran and Partners was appointed to deliver the vision of a luxurious modern residence, while respecting the building’s iconic heritage and design. For such a high-profile project, every component had to be high quality, but also sensitively selected or designed from scratch to fit with the Modernist architectural theme.Allgood managed the specification, development and delivery of the near £1 million ironmongery and hardware requirements, with many bespoke elements and high specification finishes; the five-year project is among the largest ironmongery projects in the UK.Every element of the project’s architectural hardware, including handles for the main entrance and interior doors, escutcheons, thumb turns and releases, wardrobe pulls and shower door handles, was individually designed to construct a coherent and original aesthetic.Taking visual cues from the building’s 1960’s geometric patterning and monochromatic styling, the bespoke, high-specification ironmongery comprised: 800 handles, 1000 locks, 500 sets of levers, 900 wardrobe pulls and 180 shower-door pulls; all custom-made by Allgood at its manufacturing facility in Birmingham.Winner of the residential category at the 2019 AI Specification Awards, Centre Point remains a classic example of beauty in every detail and a case study in how to run a specification. Of the many bespoke pieces, Allgood designed and manufactured back-to-back pad handles for internal corridor doors. These were made from mirror polished nickel with an unusually high standard of polishing applied to all surfaces, even on the reverse.Allgood also collaborated with Samuel Heath to design and manufacture a bespoke door lever that was conceived to reflect the famous geometric architecture of the building. Allgood’s hidden fixings completed an elegant, sleek finish, perfectly complementing the apartments’ luxurious feel.

In 2015, Roger Stretton, an architect and one of the foundersof the practice Berman Guedes Stretton, and Martin Smithcollaborated to bring to fruition their shared enthusiasm forcontemporary, cutting edge, environmentally-friendly residentialdesign.On an attractive, mature garden site near Dorchester in Dorset,two 2,100 sq ft detached, two-storey houses were designedaround south facing courtyards with a one-and-a-half storeyheight living room.When designing the properties, environmentally responsiblematerials, products and processes were at the forefront ofthe specification. To this end, incorporating renewable andinnovative technologies, such as air-source heat pumps and heatrecovery ventilation systems enable the buildings to be highlyenergy efficient.Having previously used Allgood products, Roger recognisedthe brand for its quality and reliability, and consequentlyspecified Allgood’s Alite lever handles and Allgood doorsetsfor the project. He explains, “The new houses have a modern,minimalist design, so it was essential that the ironmongery anddoors complemented this approach, Allgood’s stainless steel Alitehandles and bespoke finished doors met these requirements.”To complement the interior architecture of the buildings, Allgoodsupplied doorsets incorporating fully fabricated and finishedflush doors with rebated frames to create a perimeter shadowgap. An important design feature was a clear line of visionthrough each house along the main axis of the plan. To achievethis, four special, full-height glazed doors with glazed side panelswere supplied. In addition, two 30 minute fire resisting doorswere also specified to the plant-rooms.Arriving on site, factory painted and with hinges and locksalready fitted, the Allgood doorsets provide valuable savings intime, cost and waste as well as a higher quality finish.

Situated in the north dock of the West India Quay,Canary Wharf’s Crossrail Place is a unique architecturaltriumph that houses a train station,retail space and apublic garden.Designed by Foster & Partners and constructed byCanary Wharf Contractors, the £500 million project’sdistinctive 300 metre timber latice roof has lead to thebuilding being likened to a ship moored in thedocks.Beneath it’s eye-catching facade lies Canary Wharf’sCrossrail station. Scheduled to open in 2018, it is one ofseven new underground stations built to facilitate theCrossrail project. With a 256 metre long station box, it isalso one of the largest facilities on the Crossrail network.Allgood began work on the project in early 2015, withthe task of providing an ironmongery package to matchthe high quality theme of the building.With a 25 year guarantee on all products, the Modricrange was selected for the steel doors in order toprovide a durable product that also formed a uniformappearance for the door.With the public nature of the building, security was ofparamount importance. The steel door package enabledaccess from public to private areas and thereforerequired higher security measures. Allgood installedhigh security solenoid redlocks that enable electronicsynchronisation with access control.

Situated in the London Borough of Newham, East HamTechnical College was reopened in September 2014and is now home to over 500 students. The elegantVictorian building was originally built in 1905 and isnow a Grade II listed building.Rick Mather Architects retained many of the existingfeatures of the original building whilst the new modernadditions seek to complement and highlight these,whilst ensuring functionality for users. Extensive areasof glazed tiles and bricks have been repaired anduncovered to restore the original diverse materialityof the building. Though the south and east elevationsutilised alternative materials, they maintain the redbrick and terracotta aesthetic of the more elaboratenorth and west facades.The ironmongery package presented a challenge forAllgood. The high usage of the building meant theironmongery would need to be highly functional but itwas essential that the aesthetics matched the interiordesign of the building.Whilst many of the classrooms have been modernised,the interior designer elected to match the ironmongeryto the more classic themes of the building.A co-ordinated antique brass finish was applied toknob handles, numerals, hinges and door closers oneach of the wooden, white painted doors.In the bathroom areas, where some of the originaldecor was not retained, a more conventional stainlesssteel finish was utilised to cubicle locks and WC turns

The Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) is a newcentre for world leading research on carbon innovation. Partof Edinburgh University’s estate, the ECCI acts as a social huboffering teaching, support and information on climate relatedchallenges facing society. The ECCI also doubles up as agreen business venue for events and conferences in the heartof the city centre.Originally built in 1777 by Alexander Laing, the refurbishment ofthe Neo Classical Royal High School was the first refurbishedbuilding in the UK to achieve the BREEAM ‘Outstanding’award. Refurbished by Malcolm Fraser Architects, part of theCentre’s unique design includes careful consideration of thebuilding’s fabric, prioritising sustainable and recycled materials.A facet of the building’s refurbishment was to improve itsenvironmental aspects such as waste, pollution, land use,ecology, materials, management and energy.Reaching this iconic benchmark involved sourcing materialsfrom a sustainable background. When Malcolm FraserArchitects detailed the building’s ethos and aim to achievea BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ award. Allgood proposed a FSBironmongery solution that recycles 100% of the water used inthe manufacturing process and 90% of all FSB products canbe recyled at life end. Once presented with our FSB range andenvironmental manufacturing credentials, Edinburgh Universitywere happy to use Allgood’s ironmongery solution.Overall, Allgood supplied a combined ironmongery, sanitaryand access control package that included: hinges, doorclosers, locks, kick plates, signage, grab rails, soap dispensers,paper towel dispenser and concealed electromagnetic locks.Having successfully supplied to other Edinburgh Universityprojects before, Allgood knew how to approach the project,allowing all items to be delivered on time and within the clientsbudget.

The Four Seasons Kuwait on the Burj Alshaya waterfrontboasts over 300 rooms and suites - the embodimentof opulence inside and out. This prestigious hotel,which blends motifs from traditional Middle Easternarchitecture into an airy contemporary space, wasdesigned to be the most luxurious in Kuwait, sonaturally, it required a specialist ironmongery solution.Having worked on many of the Four Seasons projectsworldwide, Allgood was initially brought in by leadarchitect, Gensler to support the development of theironmongery schedule. When Yabu Pushelberg wasappointed as interior designer, Allgood was selectedas their natural partner following many previouscollaborations on similarly large and complex projects.The showpiece of the £1 million ironmongery project isthe bespoke brass pull handle on each of the 3.6 metrehighinternal doors. Finished in a warm bronze designedto patinate over time, with a hammered texture, thesepull handles required months of consultation andprototyping, as well as a customised manufacturingprocess in Allgood’s Birmingham factory.On March 22nd, Four Seasons Kuwait won secondplace in the International category of the RIBA-GAISpecification Awards 2019. The judges commented:“This entry is of an extremely high standard. Thehardware compliments the building fabric perfectly- in the simplicity of design and universal finish. Thehotel design is well mirrored by the hardware in itsappearance and theme.”

Completed in November 2014, the Four Seasons Dubaisits beside Jumeirah Beach, just ten minutes fromDubai’s famous commercial district.California based architect WATG worked alongsideinterior designer BAMO to create a resort heavilyinfluenced by mediterranean architecture and the hotel’sseaside location. For example, the lobby sits underneathan octagonal dome finished with gold leaf that enhancesthe natural light coming through the windows.Each of the 237 guestrooms come with a balcony,offering panoramic views of the sea or the city’sextravagant skyline, punctuated by the world’s tallestbuilding, the Burj Khalifa.The luxury hotel required a tailored package toensure it’s aesthetic flair was complemented bythe door furniture.The intricate detail on the Royal Suite doors wasmatched by custom made lattice pull handles in a pewterfinish (far right image), whilst the rest of the suite andpublic areas were supplied with pull and knob handles ina co-ordinated bronze finish.In contrast, the hotel opted for a polished finish in thepresidential suite, with nickel and stainless steel thepreferred materials. A full spectrum of door furniture wasapplied including lever handles, lock cases and doorclosers, all supplied in the desired polished finish.

Named after Francis Crick, the scientist who helpeddiscover the structure of DNA, the institute is an ambitiouscollaboration of six founding research partners: the MedicalResearch Council, Cancer Research UK, Wellcome Trust,UCL (University College London), Imperial College Londonand King’s College London.The world-class biomedical research facility aims todiscover how and why disease develops in order to findnew ways to prevent, diagnose and treat conditions suchas cancer, heart disease and stroke, as well as infectionsand neurodegenerative conditions. Located in centralLondon, the steel, glass and terracotta clad buildingoccupies a full city block and creates strong architecturallinks to historic local buildings. Large cantilevered baywindows and tall glass atria reduce the building’s impact atstreet level and maintain natural light in workspaces andpublic areas. The challenge for Allgood on this project wasto create an ironmongery specification in keeping with thefacility’s elite standards.The Contego range is an antimicrobial copper product,made from a copper alloy, giving it the appearance ofstainless steel while incorporating the bacteria fightingqualities of copper.Killing 99.9% of bacteria within minutes of exposure, therange offered a unique functional capability to the researchcentre, while still matching the interior aesthetic. Contegolever and pull handles were supplied to glass doorsincluding: office and lab doors, while push plates weresupplied to the auditorium and back of house areas.Additionally, Allgood Secure supplied automatic dooroperators to the main entrances of the labs, with fobreaders fitted for Contego lever handles in higher securityareas.

Originally built in 1928, the Fullerton building was initially usedas an office, housing entities such as the Ministry of Trade andthe Chamber of Commerce.Following a brief spell as a makeshift hospital during thesecond World War, Britain’s surrender of Singapore to Japanled to the building becoming the headquarters for Japan’smilitary operation in the country.In 1997, the Building was sold for £300m and work beganon renovating it for use as a hotel. Architects 61 set outto restore the building’s existing facade. The neo-classicalcolumns and high-ceiling verandas were retained and the theShanghai plaster panel cladding was restored.However, the interior had to be completely transformedto accommodate the hotel’s 400 rooms. New additionsincluded the indoor garden and the new restaurant, where thebuilding’s historical lighthouse was kept and incorporated intothe decor.Allgood began work on the Fullerton in 1999, with a viewto supplying a high quality, bespoke package that wouldcomplement the building’s prestigious reputation.Allgood originally specified a combination of stainless steelHaft Elipse levers and matching pulls (top & bottom rightimages) in the public areas, along with bespoke FSB pullhandles for the ballroom doors (bottom left image). In the backof house area, Modric lever handles were fitted throughout,ensuring the hotel had a product that would last for at least 25years.More recently, Allgood were asked to provide new windowfittings in a polished stainless steel finish, to match the whitepainted windows in the bedroom

The British museum has seen a number of additions over the years,most recently the £135 million world conservation and exhibitionscentre which was completed in 2014. The brief required a particularfocus on creating an environmentally sustainable building with amodern interior that could hold exhibitions, as the museum did nothave enough space for them.The British Museum was conceived in 1753 after Sir Hans Sloaneexchanged his vast collection of artefacts with King George III for£20,000 to ensure that he left an inheritance for his children. Itopened it’s doors to the public in 1759 and has remained in thesame location in Bloomsbury ever since.The main building exhibits landmark architecture inspired by theGreek Revival. To fit the 19th and 20th century design of the site,the architects Rogers Stirk Harbour worked with Mace group tobuild the new conservation centre using steel frames and Portlandglass and stone, easing the transition between the exterior of themuseum and the new development.With a public building of this magnitude, there is a high amount oftraffic around the building so it was imperative that the ironmongeryperformed to the highest level. For this reason, Allgood suppliedthe highest quality hardware including: triple knuckle hinges, floorspring units and mortice locks. We specified the hinges as they aremade from 316 stainless steel and come with a 25 year guaranteewhilst the other hardware items have a ten year guarantee. We alsosupplied our Modric lever handles on mostof the doors as they aretested to grade 4 against BS EN 1906 and would provide the doorswith the highest quality and most durable handles.As science and research are at the core of the new development,the building needed to be modern, functional and sustainable.We were able to meet the sustainability expectations as all of ourstainless steel door fittings are made from 62% recycled materialsof which 95% can be recycled at the end of the product’s life.Additionally, our packaging is also made from recycled material andcan be recycled once it has been used.The World Conservation and Exhibitions centre has now been openfor 6 months and has further enhanced the British Museum’s statusas a world class institute.

Based in the heart of Clerkenwell, Hangrohe’s newshowroom aims to create a hub of inspiration, excitementand resources for the international architect and designcommunity.Interior design company I-AM created a brandexperience, integrating moving, working water as well asmore abstract, artistic features.Working showerheads and mixers are set against thebackdrop of a 4D-mapped ‘digital waterfall’ animatedartwork, whilst window display features billowing fabricevocative of water flowing from a tap.Showcasing more than 200 products, the Water Studiostrikes a balance between inspiration and expertise. Itis a working space, a creative sanctuary and studio foreducation and collaboration.I-AM approached Allgood to provide a contrastingaddition to the showroom in the form of the Holt range.Comprising of door and bathroom accessories, Holt ismade oak and hand finished.Bespoke length pull handles were crafted for the existingglass entrance doors, continuing the interior’s warmingaesthetic. Due to their exterior use, a new externallacquer was applied, in order to shield the handles fromvarying outdoor conditions.In the bathroom area, the Holt approved documentM pack was installed, showcasing the range’s abilityto cater for the disabled, whilst contributing to thebathroom’s decor.

Located on St Mary’s Street, Cardiff, Hodge House is a beautifully renovated Grade II listed eight-storey building. Originally constructed in 1915 on the site of Cardiff’s original Victorian Town Hall, the building was home to the Welsh Co-Operative for many years.Architect Stride Treglown led the refurbishment of this historic building, converting it into 110,000 sq. ft of modern office space. Working in partnership with Paramount Interiors, they specified Allgood’s Modric and Holt ranges throughout. The development, winner of ‘Workplace Design of the Year’ and shortlisted for ‘Development of the Year’ at the Insider Wales Property Awards 2020, has had its interior transformed to suit the next generation of occupiers while showcasing the stunning original features including exposed decorative cast-iron columns and riveted steel structures from the 1930s.Our Modric and Holt ranges matched this design intent. Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), which first openedon 6 July 1998, connects around 220 destinationsworldwide with over 71.5 million passengers in 2019.Designed by Foster and Partners, the 550,000m2 terminalwas one of the most ambitious construction projects ofmodern times.Home to over 220 shops and 60 restaurants and with78,000 staff as well as millions of passengers, the airportrequired an ironmongery solution that could last severaldecades and meet the high-performance demands of oneof the world’s busiest international aviation hubs.Working in partnership with Hong Kong-based KeyTechnologies International Ltd (Key Tech), Allgood doorhardware was installed throughout PTB 1 after a detailedinternational tender to select the most suitable productquality, performance, and technical support of all providers.One of the largest ever ironmongery specifications at thetime, valued at over £1 million, this was the beginning of a23-year working relationship with Airport Authority HongKong (AAHK) where Key Tech continues to offer expertadvice, onsite technical support and parts supply for AAHKTechnical Services & Support Team.Today, despite the daily demands of a leading internationalairport, many of the original pieces of ironmongery remainin good working order. This is a testament to the qualityof the specification, the products and the open andtransparent exchanges of users’ requirements betweenAAHK, Key Tech and Allgood that has ensured continuedsafe operations at the airport for over two decades.Allgood’s Modric range was specified throughout theterminal in solid grade 316 stainless steel in all passengerareas and in back-of-house and staff areas. Modric uses premium quality materials and a precisionengineering process designed to createproducts which last. This commitment to qualityminimises waste by significantly extendinglifecycles and virtually eliminating the needfor repairs.While there is the normal wear from over twodecades of heavy usage, there are still noperformance concerns. No dropping of leverhandles, and the springing on lock cases allremain in full working order.An important upgrade was undertaken fiveyears ago as the airport wanted to enhance theholding force on the electromagnetic locks onall boarding gates to improve security. Key Techspent over four months identifying and trialling asuitable replacement that required the minimummodification to the original framed glass doorassembly and deliver improved holding forceand additional security monitoring features.The team also conducted a workshop withairport technicians and maintenance subcontractorsto ensure they were familiar withthe inspection and maintenance of the newelectromagnetic locks.HKIA was so impressed by the new solutionthat it has become the standard requirementand applied throughout PTB 1 and other newterminal buildings Allgood and Key Tech have maintained a positiveworking relationship with AAHK since theoriginal contract for the supply and installationof door furniture for PTB 1, in 1998. Supplying avariety of new items over the years, includingthe introduction of electronic cylinders to helpreduce the need for physical keys and introduceprogrammable access cards to the airport.Key Tech conducts regular technical workshops,and continually presents innovative productsto AAHK stakeholders. These services areviewed as essential in planning preventativeand corrective maintenance to keep the airportfunctioning smoothly.

The House of St Johns’ is a beautifully restored andrenovated Grade I listed building in the heart of Bath, UK.The building now houses a mix of flexible office spaces,dedicated desks, meeting rooms and modern eventsspaces – offering a fully flexible working environment formodern times.Working in close collaboration with architect FelidenClegg Bradley Studios and contractors Emery BrothersLtd, Allgood provided a complete ironmongeryspecification throughout, while Allgood Secure designedand installed a security and access control system thatmet with the client’s requirements.The Modric range in a Spectra bronze finish was chosenthroughout the building as its timeless aesthetic andelegant simplicity matched the architect’s vision for thespace. Our Holt range was also fitted onto the lowerground floor communal doors and shower rooms from European oak, Holt’s super circular design providesa welcoming, warm to the touch feel that suited thedesign intent to provide welcoming spaces.Allgood Secure designed a comprehensive securityspecification for this project, including an access controlsystem, CCTV, and a video intercom system. All of thiswas backed up with powerful cloud-based software,Brivo Access, giving the staff full visibility across the siteand allowing them to lock and unlock doors remotely.The system was also integrated with House of StJohns’ room booking system, meaning members canunlock meeting rooms themselves using their accesscredentials.A key part of the security system was the installationof Eagle Eye cloud-hosted CCTV cameras. Thesecameras are fully integrated with the Brivo Accessplatform, allowing the team to view the live video feedsfrom anywhere and with ease. All of this is backed upwith expertly selected and fitted electronic locks andironmongery from the wider Allgood team, ensuring alldoors are compliant with the relevant fire, escape andaccessibility criteria.

Allgood doorsets are helping to provide exceptional fire safetyat the new state of the art science, technology, engineeringand maths (STEM) facilities at Kingston University, London.The University, which has roots going back more than 100years and has approximately 19,500 enrolled students, beganconstruction of new science and technology facilities in thesummer of 2016.Replacing the former teaching rooms on the second andthird floors of the main building, the new chemistry andpharmaceutics laboratories are providing students at theUniversity with a modern environment, packed with the lateststate-of-the-art equipment.As with any science laboratory, the consideration of safety wasof paramount importance when it came to specifying elementssuch as the doors, due to the use of flammable, toxic anddangerous chemicals.Additionally, because of the amount of traffic through theSTEM department and thus the doors’ regularity of use, theuniversity felt that reliability and durability were integral when itcame to the ironmongery.As such, Allgood supplied 15 doorsets with traditional exposedlippings. The exposed lippings provide extra protection tothe door faces and ensure they can be easily repaired andreplaced if necessary. Along with the doorsets, Alite levers,latches, surface maglocks and hinges were installed, providingthe laboratories with fire protection for up to 30 minutes.The Alite ironmongery range developed specifically for usein busy commercial environments was ideal for the KingstonUniversity STEM environment – providing a robust and hardwearing ironmongery solution.

Based in the heart of London’s financial district, LibertySyndicates has taken up new office space at 20Fenchurch Street, more commonly known as the WalkieTalkie.Famed for it’s unique design, the building wascompleted in 2014 by world renowned architect, RafaelVinoly. Unlike most skyscrapers, the walkie talkie adoptsa top-heavy shape which allows it to maximise space onthe higher floors, the most expensive to rent.It also offers a free to use sky garden for the public,situated on the top three levels, which was one of thekey factors in the building receiving planning permission.Liberty Syndicates opted to make six floors of 20Fenchurch Street their new London home, with a view todeveloping a modern and vibrant working space.In a high usage, commercial environment, Allgood’skey brief was to provide a high performing ironmongerypackage. Grade 316 stainless steel Modric pull handleswere supplied on all of the meeting room doorsalongside matching accessories and overhead doorclosers.In the bathroom areas, Allgood supplied a co-ordinatedModric range of signage, WC turns, coat hooks andescutcheons.

Opened on 3rd of September 2013, the Library of Birminghamoffers world class facilities and resources to transform livesthrough learning, knowledge and culture, providing an excitingand inspiring visitor experience for all.Designed by Dutch architects Mecanoo, the £186m building,was a key part of Birmingham’s “big city” regeneration plan.The new building is situated in the cultural heart of the city,comprising of performance spaces, rooftop terraces and alarge glass-topped central book rotunda that rises throughthe middle of the building, echoing the traditional great roundreading room of the British Museum. It shares an entranceway and performance studio with the neighbouring RepertoryTheatre, whilst the Symphony Hall and the National IndoorArena are situated nearby.The intricate steel lattice work that covers the outside ofthe building represents both the city’s industrial past andits heritage in jewellery making. It reflects and dissects thedaylight to create ever-changing shadows on the library’s wallsand floors. The golden rotunda at the top of the building sitsthe Shakespeare memorial room, housing the original carvedwood panels from the memorial room at the city’s demolishedVictorian Library.Allgood supplied a full Alite package that included doorfurniture, signage and mechanical door hardware, whileAllgood Trio supplied electronic locks and key switches. Dueto the specific requirements of the design of some of thedoors, Allgood had to supply bespoke products to match thespecification of the project.On 17 July 2014 the Library of Birmingham was nominated asone of the six short-listed buildings for the 2014 Stirling Prize,awarded for excellence in architecture

Maggie’s Centre’s provide free practical, emotional and socialsupport to people with cancer, and their family and friends.Founded upon Maggie Keswick Jencks’ view that people shouldnot “lose the joy of living in the fear of dying”, each Maggie’sCentre is designed to alleviate the clinical and dispirited feel ofhospital environments, while enabling patients to feel empoweredand comfortable.Architects dRMM, chose to use tulipwood CLT for the positiveinfluence the material has on people and for its beauty, strength,and warmth. With research suggesting wooden structures canhelp lower blood pressure and pulse rates, the Wood HousingHumanity Report found that the material has more health andwellbeing benefitsthan any other.Visiting the Allgood showroom in London, dRMM were introducedto the Holt range, designed by Alex Mowat. With an elegant supercircular shape, the Holt range is handcrafted from European oakand provides the optimum grip for users.Incorporating Holt L shape lever handles, WC turns, coat hooks,doorstops and toilet roll holders as well as disabled toiletfurniture, Maggie’s Centre in Oldham has created a thoughtfulenvironment for its users.

Designed by Wilson Mason Architects, the ManchesterCancer Research Centre (MCRC) is a state of the artresearch facility, home to 150 researchers.The iconic public facing facility has been designed withan integrated environmental approach. With featuressuch as 85% natural ventilation and rainwater harvesting,the project has earned an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.Allgood were asked to supply an ironmongerypackage that could reflect the sustainable approach,whilst catering for the building’s high performancerequirements.With the MCRC being a partnership between TheChristie, Cancer Research UK and the Universityof Manchester, there is frequent traffic of users. Itwas therefore imperative that Allgood supplied anironmongery package that would perform to the higheststandard. The package was delivered in a co-ordinatedstainless steel finish to match the clean aesthetic ofthe building’s interior. In addition, Modric lever and pullhandles were fitted on the internal doors, providing adurable and high quality product that provides a ten yearwarranty.All of the stainless steel door fittings supplied aremanufactured from 62% recycled materials, of which95% can be recycled at the end of the products life.Manufactured in our factory in Birmingham, the Modricproducts supplied enabled lower carbon emissionsthrough a shorter supply chain, contributing to the‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating of the building.

Mann Island is where cutting edge architecture and modernurban living meet English history. Situated at the heart ofthe Liverpool docklands, the £45 million ‘Building 3’ wasbuilt for commercial use and has since been leased byMersey Travel.The UNESCO world heritage site was once the startingpoint for millions of emmigrants on their journey to the ‘newworld’ countries of America, Australia & New Zealand.Now an architectural hotspot, Mann island has becomeone of Liverpool’s most vibrant and upcoming areas.Comprising of office space and apartments, the waterfrontdevelopment attracts over 25,000 visitors per day alone.Allgood were employed to supply high end ironmongeryand an access control package. Mersey Travel wereparticularly concerned about providing facilities that wereaccessibile to people of all ages and disabilities. To meetthis specification, Allgood Trio both supplied and installedunderfloor and overhead operators in addition to magnetlocking systems to create automatic doors.Allgood provided a full hardware package that incorporatedstainless steel signage, kicking plates and lever actionflushbolts to match the buildings modern interior design.Allgood also worked with the client to design andmanufacture specially made pull and lever handles in orderto match the range of glass, oak and walnut doors.As always, Allgood delivered on time and exactly to theclient’s requirements, ensuring that the building’s interiordesign and functionality were to as high a standard as thearchitecture.

The new Design Museum at Kensington, which opened itsdoors to the public in November 2016 following a move fromits previous residence at Shad Thames, has specified Allgood’sModric ironmongery throughout its interior. Winner of the Guildof Architectural Ironmongery Specification Awards 2016/ 2017Commercial category, the imaginative ironmongery solutionsmeet the architects brief; matching the building’s look and feel.One of the £83million refurbishment’s standout architecturalfeatures was the preservation of the original roof structure, whichwas central to how the new project took shape. The internalfloors of the old building were demolished with a series ofpiles, temporary trusses and beams supporting the internal roofcolumns until the new structure was built and the fit-out stagecould begin.The inherent objective of the project was to create a worldclassmuseum in the heart of London, including permanent andtemporary exhibitions as well as learning spaces – showcasingall elements of design, including fashion, product and graphicdesign.Established in 1989, the museum is known for promoting andexhibiting the best in British design as well as displaying bold andiconic international items.A British design classic, Modric is manufactured in Allgood’s UKfactory where craftsmen pay close to attention to detail, handfinishing every product. Modric has a long-standing reputationof quality built on its ability to consistently perform to the higheststandard. Operating on the unique quadaxial fixing, Modric leverhandles have been independently tested to BS EN 1906 andhave surpassed 1 million cycles, providing just one example whyAllgood has the confidence to offer a 25 year warranty on therange.The interior of the Design Museum features an array ofproductsfrom the Modric range including lever handles, hinges,pull handles,push plates, wc turns, and door signage, as wellas overhead doorclosers, magnetic door holders and unique,concealed doorstops.

Located on the surviving remains of London’s first purpose-built theatre, New Inn Broadway is a new V&A museum exhibition and office building in Shoreditch. ‘The Theatre’ - which was the forerunner to ‘The Globe’- was originally built in 1576 and was home to some of William Shakespeare’s early plays. The five-storey building has been developed to celebrate the unique history of the site.New Inn Broadway is a location steeped in history.With its origins stretching back to Elizabethan times, and now playing host to the V&A and a commercial office space there was a lot to consider during the specification process.This dual purpose presented specific access concerns for the client, wanting to easily control who can move between the museum and office space, while also keeping everything secure. Allgood’s team of security and access control consultants worked with the client and electrical consultants to create a system design that met these requirements. This detailed technical planning was followed by careful execution and installation, using the latest in security and access control equipment.The final solution involved a state-of-the-art system that allows differing levels of access across the separate areas of the multi-use venue. This work was complemented with a coordinated ironmongery package including a complete Modric Doc M installation.Allgood Secure was specified by mechanical and electrical consultants Waterman Group to collaborate on system design, and supply and fit access control an audio visual intercom system, CCTV intruder detection, and an alarm system.As this was a multi-use development comprising the V&A museum as well as commercial office space, it was imperative that the building had a network access control system to manage access and maintain security as well as allow the end user to change access rights easily.Stainless steel entrance panels were specified at the main entrance doors and at the stairwells of each lettable office space floor, with a one-way video system that calls the internal handsfree monitors.A HD CCTV system was selected to allow remote monitoring from a different site, and a mixture of bullet and dome cameras were installed and finished in a bespoke RAL finish to complement the contemporary ceiling.Allgood Secure managed the installation of an intruder alarm system which features high-end technology offering peace of mind for staff.As well as a high-tech security system, Allgood’s Modric washroom package was specified by Gallus Studio architects, particularly its Doc M package.

RHS Bridgewater – the largest gardening project in EuropeThe Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Bridgewater is the largest gardening project in Europe. Created on a 154-acre site at Worsley New Hall Estate, the garden has become a major horticultural destination winning a host of awards, including RIBA North West Building of the Year 2022.Allgood worked in close partnership with Hodder+Partners after they were invited to design a world-class visitor centre capable of welcoming up to 700,000 people each year within a decade and has already seen 500,000 pass through its doors in the first year. The building has been designed to be, predominantly, one open space allowing visitors to flow easily between a variety of areas.With this high footfall in mind, we provided a comprehensive package of ironmongery and hardware from our leading Modric range. Its simple, elegant design – developed and made in Allgood’s UK factory from grade 316 stainless steel – fulfilled both the aesthetic and performance demands of the project. The range also comes with an industry-leading 25-year mechanical warranty for further reassurance.

Opened in June 2017, RIBA North is RIBA’s nationalarchitecture centre based at Liverpool’s Waterfront. Aninspirational resource for both members and the public,it plays host to a variety of architectural exhibitions andtalks.Because of the prestigious, landmark nature of theproject, Allgood was selected by architects BroadwayMalyan to deliver a bespoke ironmongery specificationthat would seamlessly integrate with the 2.4-metre-highglass doors in the front entrance, gallery and WCs.Allgood designed and manufactured bespokestainless-steel pull plates that were laser etched withRIBA font lettering in-house at our Brearley Streetfactory. The pull plates were required to integrate with arange of glass doors, which meant detailed setting outto ensure compatibility of fixing mechanisms with thespecific toughened glass construction, to avoid any riskof unnecessary strain on the glass material.Further bespoke elements included custom-made pushand pull handles that were fitted to toilet cubicles withconcealed fixings to deliver the desired contemporaryfinish to complement the modern aesthetic throughoutthe building The project is testament to the combined effort of thedesign teams as it involved months of collaboration andplanning between Broadway Malyan, the main contractorISG, and the specialist door providers, to ensure thechosen designs translated into end products that metmechanical compatibility and performance requirements.Allgood was involved at all stages, from inceptionthrough to the manufacturing and delivery. As well asbespoke products, the iconic Modric and Mode ranges- which are crafted from grade 316 solid stainless steel- were selected for their durability and sleek design.These were specified in the RIBA staff spaces, such asthe meeting rooms, offices and staff accommodation.

built home in Surbiton is the latest of the charity’s new caredevelopments, providing 24 hour nursing care within ahomelike environment. Originally a home for injuried WW1veterans to return to, the charity now provides long and shortterm care for ex-service people and their close family. Thehome is specially equipped with 63 en-suite rooms and adedicated dementia area, with 26 rooms for residents whorequire specialist support.Royal Star & Garter’s aim was to make sure that every roomwas specially equipped to suit the individual resident’s needs.Therefore, the access control solution had to reflect thisethos. With this in mind, Allgood Tio supplied and installedan advanced access control package, containing proximityreaders, proximity lever handle sets, safety sensors andautomatic door operators.Allgood Trio worked with Scurr & Partners Architects toprovide a low key, yet highly secure access control package,that allows staff to control the access given to residents,without causing any disturbance or confusion. This met RoyalStar & Garter’s idealogy of having a secure building, whilstmaintaining it’s homelike and comfy atmosphere.Royal Star & Garter’s dedicated dementia area required anaccess control package that kept within the main interiortheme, that used contrasting colours to help residentsnavigate their way round the building. Allgood Trio wereespecially asked to provide a practical and aestheticallypleasing lever handle set, that would suit this contrast,whilst maintaining it’s homelike atmosphere. Taking this intoconsideration, we supplied our Salto lever handle set with41020 FSB lever handles; combining Salto’s efficient softwarealongside FSB’s ergonomic lever handles, in a polished brassfinish.

SROMC is the new cancer support and information centrebased at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, providingstate of the art facilities for patients and their families acrossNorth Yorkshire. Designed by IBI Group and constructed by SirRobert McAlpine, the centre offers patients the highest qualitytreatments, teamed alongside an integrated supportive care andcomplementary therapies.As always in a healthcare environment, it is imperative thatgood hand hygiene is maintained at all times to stop the crosscontamination of bacteria between users of the hospital. As doorfurniture is an item that is frequently touched by many differentpeople, IBI Group wanted an ironmongery solution that wouldprotect patients and visitors against the cross contamination ofHealthcare Acquired Infections (HCIS) whilst having a matchingfinish to rest of the mechanical hardware.Antimicrobial Copper is the most effective touch surface materialin the fight against pathogeinic microbes, killing greater than99.9% of bacteria within two hours of exposure. No othermaterial comes close. Historically, most antimicrobial copperdoor furniture has a copper-like appearance but this would notmeet the requirement of a stainless steel aesthetic. By using ourunique Contego range of ironmongery formed from a provenantimicrobial copper alloy that has the appearance of stainlesssteel, Allgood were able to provide a solution that met thearchitect’s requirements.A full specification was created using Contego range suchas lever handles, push plates, pull handles, WC turns andescutcheons complimented with satin stainless steel mechanicalhardware such as signage, door closers, locks and kick plates.By selecting the truly unique Contego range, Allgood were ableto supply an ironmongery package that matched the aestheticthroughout whilst providing protecting against the spreadof bacteria, reducing the risk of infection for the users of thebuilding.

Sowwah Square is a landmark development situated on theisland of Jazeerat Al Maryah in Abu Dhabi. The complexcomprises four luxury high-rise towers providing 285,000square metres of mixed office and retail space, as well asthe new Stock Exchange of Abu Dhabi building.Working in collaboration with design and architecture firm,Gensler, Allgood initially provided specifications for theStock Exchange building, retail area and the car parks,before later working with Goettsch Partners on the fourluxury towers.Gensler wanted a bespoke lever and pull handle designusing a semi-circular grip profile to complement the interioraesthetic. Allgood worked closely with the architects todesign, prototype, and produce the handles, using itsin-house design and manufacture capabilities. The finalproducts were installed on all 2,600 doors of the StockExchange building and have since been included inAllgood’s Mode range.Goettsch designed each of the four towers surrounding theStock Exchange in its own style. The versatile Sembla rangeof door furniture proved an ideal partner for this vision,given the many possible finishes and materials. For thisthe Sembla range of door furniture was chosen due to itsversatile range of finishes and material options. The clientalso only wanted fittings of the highest quality and durability.Sembla is made from solid grade 316 stainless steel and ismounted on Allgood’s patented Quadaxial™ rose that hasbeen tested to one million cycles without failure.The commitment to quality extended to the choices ofhardware with only the most durable mechanical hardwarebeing specified throughout the project. Allgood providedlocks, cylinders, door closers and panic devices with 10-yearguarantees, while the hinges had a 25-year guarantee.

Originally built over 200 years ago, the revamped Spitfire Studios now combines commercial office space with eight residential apartments. Due to the site’s mixed use, it was imperative that Allgood Trio provided a package that gave the building a high level of security whilst separating the residential and commercial areas.

Now reimagined as The Edinburgh Grand, the formerA-listed RBS head office built between 1938 and 1942 is animpressive building situated on St Andrew Square. With manypieces of Victorian antique brass and pewter ironmongeryand hundreds of original period doors throughout, theironmongery solution had to accommodate the traditionalaesthetic and be fit for the many demands of a modern hotel.Allgood was commissioned by the project’s architect andinterior designer, both long term partners of Allgood; KarenBrown of Chris Stewart Group and Eirini Christodoulou ofMorgan McDonnell. With such a striking, but unusual finish,finding coordinated hardware was a challenge. Severaloptions were assessed before settling on a brass finishapplied to the Allgood door closers, cylinders and joinerysubcontractor’s hinges.A collection of classic Frank Allart handles was chosen for allapartment front doors, which also integrated with the hotel’saccess control system. To match the patina of the agedhandles, a satin nickel-plated surface was given a light bronzefinish to produce an aged nickel silver appearance. Thisunlacquered, ‘living’ finish, will oxidize and patinate naturallyover time.
