Sustainability overview
Sustainability is a big priority for us at Aliaxis, and from increasing our energy efficiency every year to hitting net zero by 2050, our strategy has big goals
In 2023, we made real progress in our mission to improve our sustainability. We increased our on-site electrical efficiency by 5.9% compared to 2022, we reduced our water consumption by 8%, and we sent less than 0.01% of our waste to landfill.
On the next page, you’ll see we’ve set ourselves several targets to make our operations even more sustainable, and we’re already making progress.
While our sustainability targets are ambitious, we see challenges as opportunities. Our purpose is to ‘make life flow’ by connecting people with water and energy, and we’re committed to increasing our impact on the world whilst reducing our impact on the environment.
Carbon
Aliaxis is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. By sourcing 100% renewable energy, we aim to reduce carbon emissions per tonne of product by 75% by 2025.
Efficiency
Year on year we target a 3% gain in energy efficiency. Group-wide our aim is to improve water consumption efficiency by 50%.
Waste
Our aim is to maximise the percentage of our waste recycled and to send zero waste to landfill. Aliaxis is signed up to Operation Clean Sweep and so are committed to prevent any escape of pellets, powder or plastic waste from our site into the environment.
Products
By using less material to make our products, we can reduce the carbon embodied in the product and reduce demand for fossil fuel extraction.
We will do this by:
- lowering our overall product weight by 1%.
- increasing the recycled material content in our products to 50% of the total allowed by standards.
