OVERVIEW
Located in the painstakingly conserved 16th century Riddle’s Court in Edinburgh’s Old Town, the Patrick Geddes Centre is a
world-class centre for learning. Steeped in history, culture and
architectural wonder, it reopened as a community, conference
and events space following a £6m restoration in 2017.
Allgood was selected by conservation specialist architects
LDN to deliver an ironmongery solution that would provide
modern facilities within the picturesque Category A-listed
merchant’s house, without compromising the integrity of the
original building.
Prestigious heritage hardware brand Frank Allart was chosen,
and an antique brass finish was applied to blend in with the
historic areas of the venue. Throughout the modern quarters,
the high-performance and ultra-durable Modric stainless steel
range was used.
Bespoke hinges and door closers were developed to match
the different manufacturers’ ironmongery, while Certifire
approved Alite door closers and Allgood’s integrated security
package including secure access controls, intercom and
video entry systems were employed to deliver a high-quality
finish.
