OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
At Newnton Close, Configured Platforms delivered a bespoke, freestanding solution for Hill Group, combining a weatherproof plant room with an adjacent acoustic enclosure. The all-in-one system was designed to provide both functional performance and aesthetic integration, ensuring the plant area was robust, accessible, and sensitive to the surrounding environment. The weatherproof plant room featured our Series 2 deck with integrated flatscreens, adjacent to this our Speedscreen400 system with Flatscreen aesthetics housed a large ASHP. A Baffle300 acoustic roof was incorporated to reduce sound breakout, ensuring effective noise mitigation for neighbouring properties.
Key features
- Series 2 platform for a secure, non-penetrating deck to suit the roof design
- Flatscreen finish polyester powder-coated to multiple colours to align with the planning and architectural packages.
- Baffle300 roof to reduce sound outbreak.
- Weatherproof plant room system and access walkway to ensure safety and ease for maintenance teams.
- Conforms to BS EN 5162006 and BS EN 1090-32008.
Installation
The combined solution was installed as a fully freestanding structure, simplifying integration into the site while maximising efficiency and safety during construction. All parts were pre-fabricated in our factory in Leeds and delivered flat-packed to site in kit form, minimizing onsite waste and labour.
Design
The weatherproof plant room was built using our Series 2 Plant Deck with integrated Flatscreen, with the deck structurally uprated to support the significant loads from the thermal stores. Furthermore, a checker plate floor was installed over the mesh to facilitate the safe movement and handling of plant equipment within the space. Adjacent to this, the acoustic enclosure housed a large ASHP and was constructed using our Speedscreen400 system with Flatscreen aesthetics, and a Baffle300 acoustic roof. This enclosure was specifically engineered to minimise sound breakout through both the sides and roof, protecting neighbouring buildings from noise impact.

Client testimonial
“Since the increase in use of ASHP in recent years, we have struggled for a suitable solution to enclose or attenuate the noise typically resorting to steel structure from our steelworkers which has often proved to be costly, littered with design issues or long lead times. However the introduction of the product offered by Configured Platforms has changed this.
As a result, we have used their product on multiple schemes in various shapes, sizes and finishes to enclose the plant. The fast design service, short lead times and quick assembly through their approved installers along with a competitive cost has resulted in this quickly becoming a go to solution.” - Matthew Bricknell, Hill Group
