Institute of Psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud Lecture Theatre

The Sigmund Freud Lecture Theatre at the institute of Psychoanalysis in Maida Vale was being refurbished. It was clear the upgrade should include acoustic correction. The reverb in the main lecture theatre was high and many lecturers and attendees had commented on how bad the acoustics were. As they were now going to use the room for recording and remote learning it was crucially important to get the acoustics issue remedied.

The lecture theatre was in a historically important building and the IoP wanted to keep the ceiling exposed.

TK-Team conducted a site visit and proposed circular ceiling hung 800mm baffles to cover 50% of the space. Baffles were equally spaced and kept above the lighting level so as not to create and shadows.

Every body was happy with the outcome, corrected acoustics and the original detail of the ceiling was seen in all it`s glory.
