The Kennel Club

OVERVIEW

The Kennel Club is the biggest investor in canine health

and welfare in the country and the first point of call on

all dog matters. Based in Clarges Street, Mayfair, their

headquarters is a space which combines tradition and

elegance with the functional requirements of an art gallery.

As such, it required ironmongery with both a classic

aesthetic and present-day practicality.

MCM Architects requested Allgood design and deliver a

co-ordinated suite of traditional bronze-effect ironmongery

and hardware with all the benefits of modern ergonomics.

In keeping with the space, they specified a natural patina

of aged bronze across all levers, hinges, locks and

concealed closers. Creating this desired ageing effect

across multiple sub materials suited to different functions

required months of consultation and many sets of

simulated samples.

Allgood’s bronze solution range is made up of a copper tin

alloy containing 92% copper and 8% tin. This composition

provides excellent resistance to wear and corrosion as the

tin in bronze adds strength and hardness.
